I am just starting on my self taught artist journey...at a more advanced age (42). I am so glad to come across your channel. I am very excited to watch all of your videos! Thank you for documenting this for all of us.

Hi! I have started the CV on my 40s as well, a little later than you, as a matter of fact. I am very glad I jumped in! Good luck

Thank you for your nice words. I think we can be really hard on ourselves when we are going through this process. I was not happy at all with my progress in the beginning. I have felt a lot of frustration at different moments with this curriculum, but I can definitely see that now that I have learned a lot now that U been doing for almost 9 months. This gesture part is rather deceptive. The drawings look so stiff at first... but practice does bring improvement. Good luck in your journey!

Nice channel✨ I'm going to start with this curriculum. For gesture drawing I found a book called "The Human Figure in Motion ( I saw it being recommended by ArtPfrof here on KZbin). I'll try this as my reference since the people on the photos (nude) are actually moving (not posing). Let's see what happens 😁. Cheers🥂

Hi there, is there or do you have your own suggested supply list?

I followed Proko's videos on youtube and got timed gesture drawing also from youtube, from New Masters Academy's channel. You find the curriculum on reddit: www.reddit.com/r/learnart/comments/dapk62/from_the_guy_who_made_the_most_comprehensive_list/

@@shenlaw I am sorry. Can't you print the file on the reddit link? You should be able to click on the small infographics and it becomes bigger and can be printed from my side. Also, lower on the same page there is a link for a gallery view. I will add it here: imgur.com/a/EZPc28m

@@shenlaw I used cheap printing paper - amazon basics and regular number 2 pencils (HB) and 2B for most of the curriculum - simple faber castel or staedtler as easily available brands in Europe. I also used some erasable colour pencils from faber castel and later tried using some conté charcoal pencils (just to try) and replaced pencils with a staedtler mechanical pencil with 2.0 graphite. Nothing fancy. Oh, with value and light I incorporated an H pencil to my collection (staedtler). For fineliners I used the staedtler and stabilo 3.8mm that are easily found in most supermarkets in Europe. You really don't need anything fancy, but you can also get a nice sketchbook with nice paper if this would encourage you to draw. Hope this helps.

Hii, im thinking about starting this curriculum but im kinda hesitant. I cant draw past stick figures right now and im not sure if i am starting from the right place, can you guide me please
@ursamater

I think the curriculum is good and you can certainly benefit from it when you can draw past stick figures. The point of the curriculum is getting really strong fundamentals so you can be ready to tackle more advanced challenges without gaps. I think the stick figure look of the first drawings can be deceiving. I had not worked with timed gesture before and it was a hard exercise for me - and crushing! - with more time I could certainly go past them myself. But, from all I have read and seen gesture drawing is very important and I believe even more advanced students can benefit from Proko's free youtube series. Moreover, you can certainly advance way past stick figures in the first 4 weeks of the curriculum: you get to draw some structure and this is just the beginning of several weeks of anatomy there are to come. For me, the good thing about the curriculum is that it gets the guess work out of the picture, but I have made changes to the study and started incorporating some draw a box to unit 1. You can certainly swap the units and start with perspective, if you would like to; or just go through the first unit very quickly if you already know gesture drawing and figure drawing and use it as a "revision" before you tackle the next challenges. There is no perfect system, but the curriculum seems like a well curated self study path and I would recommend it. Good luck!

I found this Proko playlist which has more videos in it than the one I started with - kzbin.info/aero/PLtG4P3lq8RHGuMuprDarMz_Y9Fbw_d2ws The 1st one I was following had 21 videos and this other one has 38 videos so it's either an updated one or someone just added more videos to it, not sure but might be slightly different than the one you were using.

Thank you for the playlist. I saw most of the videos in this playlist, but not all of them, so I probably followed a slightly different thread that led me to a pretty similar path. Thank you very much for sharing!

Yes, I had some prior experience with drawing, painting and other forms of arts and crafts but I had never studied gesture and generally lacked proper training in art fundaments. I hope this helps.

Why is their a different course on radio runners actuall page?
@ursamater
@ursamater Жыл бұрын
Hi, Radio Runner has created an updated version for the curriculum (V2). I had already started the version he made available on reddit when I found out about his V2. What I read in his page is that he updated the resources and modified the order of some things based on his learning experience and that he did not have a timeframe for completion. I found the timeframe helpful, so I decided not to investigate further and continue with the original curriculum, but I might have done differently if I had not started with V1 already. Hope this helps.
