@@MinorcanMullet I had to review because Ezra Sol has been handling the 'Dale Pyatt', Cashman's (red) clamshell dredge. A couple of others need attention - Donjon's Jaws, this has caused confusion And Miss Ila has been out to pickup a barge recently. The USACE 'Reynolds' Debris tug (scow) that PenguinSix was recently out on has a unique look to it

Thanks for this video. As someone who knew nothing about maritime activity before the accident, it's been nice to have people willing to explain the basics to everyone, including the boats. I live in the Tampa area now and I came from Hampton Roads 13 years ago after raising my son there, so it was interesting to hear about tugs coming from places I've lived. I agree with you, the Ezra Sol is a pretty boat! Thank you for the pics of the memorial site. In all the work that's going on, there is a need to remind people those workers being on the bridge is what kept so many others from dying. Many people will never know how close they came to losing their loved ones that night. The memorial is a true picture of how America was built and reminds us of the most famous words from Lady Liberty's poem: "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

I am amazed the tugs move those enormous crane platforms and barges so quickly and accurately. The tug captains have huge respect from me!

God has blessed my wife and I with 3 riverboats cruises. Two were on the Ohio river and one was on the Mississippi River. As I recall, the number of large exhause stacks equal the number of main engines and thus the same number of screws (propellers). These tugs are the muscle boats that are needed and required to maintain the movement of large ships (sadly missing during this tragedy).

Excellent coverage. The tug with 2 emd engines are used im locomotives. Good engine if service regularly. Worked for Norfork Southern for 18 years repairing locomotives. They didnt service them as should have been.

The USCG had a very unique tug long ago. Diesel electric tug prototype, called the Cherokee. The vessel had 4 V12 Super Charged GM EMD engines.

What a cool idea! Thank you. Did the Shannon Dann come all the way from Florida? If so, how much fuel did it take and what is the estimated cost on that trip alone?
@MinorcanMulletАй бұрын
I don't have the details to answer your question. If the tug was towing a barge, it would have been consuming much more fuel than if it was just steaming. Hard to say.

Is tug like these to take out ships from port like the DALI SO IT WOULD BE SAFE
@crusoerob8550Ай бұрын
Is the Dali being punished for the bridge accident because everything is being done but action to release/extricate the Dali is not being taken? The Dali is also sitting on the deeper part of the channel and it is a very wide ship?
@KenJackson_USАй бұрын
I think the emphasis is on getting the channel beside her opened up so some shipping can resume. They've removed a lot of containers from the Dali, which has to be done before attempting to remove the tangled trusses.
