I have to say this video is a huge improvement in relation to the first "Start-Up Vlogs" you did. Those were cool and nice to watch, but here I was able to actually follow your steps of thinking and understand how your process in developing early stages of the app were going!

Thanks mate. Really appreciate this. I think the coming videos will be a bit of a mix. This first one took about 100 hours to make, which was brutal. I recorded way too much material and editing was a nightmare. The next episode will be a bit more fun and high level. And the one after that again more detailed. I'm trying to find the impossible balance between entertainment, providing actual value, and not being a full-time youtuber 💪📈

Thats like actually like one of the most trend hopping ideas... And the AI agent is the icing on the cake. Gym/Fitness Apps are the classical example of tarpit ideas, that like every 3rd persons tries to build way better than any fitness apps before. You could also as well try to build a duolingo inspired Todo App, which finally motivates you to get your todos done... Ai Agent included... The Marveri Idea had way more potential, since AI and Legal Tech is really a space where alot of transformation takes and will take place over the next months

The location feature (and check-ins at gyms) could also be extended to allow people to meet other users at the same gym and find accountability partners that way. Sometimes a once random bro at your local gym can keep you more accountable than friends that you don't go to the gym with.
@SamuelBoschMITКүн бұрын
I think it’s a great idea, maybe we can add a feature that allows you to find accountability partners or training partners based on your goals, gym location, and training preferences 💪📈

This sounds like a great idea, but I think the AI accountability coach will not work, because people do not care if an AI knows they skipped the gym. The largest component of accountability (in my opinion) is the fear of embarassment that comes with another human (ideally, someone who's opinion we value) potentially judging us for it. So the AI voice call is really just a higher-end notification service. What might be really cool is if you can train the AI voice to sound like yourself, or someone you know (personally, or fitness community beacons like Mike Israetel as the app grows). While it's still an AI, just hearing a voice we know might add that necessary amount of authority. Though the effectiveness of this may decrease over time, not sure.
@SamuelBoschMIT3 күн бұрын
It definitely is just a higher end notification service. But I’m unsure if people would really not care. Also, initially I might be the one personally calling hahahh
@CaarabaloneDZN3 күн бұрын
yeah, I like the idea of the app but I would probably just get annoyed if I kept getting calls from an AI
@adriankrieger40263 күн бұрын
@@SamuelBoschMIT Perhaps there are certain "trigger" words or phrases that the AI can use to add more weight to the calls. Depending on the personality of the user, this could be on an emotional, logical, or other basis. But I agree with your stance in the video, at some point it becomes a life coach haha
@SAI-bw5eg2 күн бұрын
I agree, but DuoLingo faces the same issues. No one knows except the app if you skipped or not your language lesson. One key difference though is it is easier to make fun and addictive games out of language "lessons" vs making going to the gym fun (for a broad audience). One way to add accountability for Samuel's app is to "gamify" it with leaderboards where people can compare each other's progress, similar to Strava.

True. The only way I could think of creating some sort of value is time efficiency for the coaches that normally would call the executive. So they could just check how many times they already got reminded by the AI and the coach can call afterwards if they still did not do the workout. The coach can check the whole conversation with the AI and your excuses of why you did not hit the gym. That way the coach can take on multiple athletes or executive at once and only has to check the responses given to the AI. If you dont answer the AI or have some excuses or got reminded too often the coach will still (or has to call) for real. This ensures the fear of getting busted by the coach while as a coach being able to manage multiple executives. So you would need less coaches to pay for the same amount of executives that can be handled at once. But I think, rather than just having another fitness app with one small USP regarding the notification service, this could be actually more of an "AI reminder app" or software. You could download it and use it for different kind of areas where you need to keep track of things. Connect it with a calendar, a fitness app or whatever app that makes sense in regards of tracking things and being hold accountable for it. I´m not in the market but I could imagine there are a few more areas that could use something like this, starting with fitness apps. That way you dont make another fitness app, but give an option to all fitness apps that are currently available to use the app as an add on kinda. That way u would not compete with other fitness apps and have also the possibility to scale the app itself by expanding in different areas besides fitness. So you'd be basically more sustainable and flexible in the future to create growth. Such an add on could also be implemented in companies if the setup is right (Management f.e.). But Idk the market too well so those are just the first things that come to mind. I think it can create a decent amount of revenue if done right. Still, I cannot imagine that there is a high demand that would solve issues or safe time and create growth for companies by using such an AI.

For the people who don't go to the gym and just start with calisthenic stuffs the app could recommend the user transition to a gym in the area once the user reaches a certain level. Once you have enough users maybe gyms would give you money to recommend their gym. Could make it more enticing for the user to transition to the gym by getting gyms to offer discounts for members coming from the app???

Hey Samuel, how do you feel about the mental and problem solving challenges with these startups. I guess it’s fair to say even though it’s a lot of hard work this doesn’t compare to the difficulty of the things you had to tackle during your studies, like quantum mechanics. Do you not care so much about these things, and go more for the money part? Or don’t you enjoy these rigorous scientific questions anymore?

I think startups are much more fun and require a lot more (diverse) skills than science does. Also, it’s about solving real-world problems

horrifying, i would never pay or download freely an app that puts social pressure on doing something and therefore shaming if i dont, i dont want some app to keep me accountable, id associate a negative feeling to it and delete it, it should just give me advice, encouragement and structure through reinforcement learning, keep track of progress and dynamically adjust on whats left to do, also the more compact and simple the better, i dont want no calls or gps tracking, id just want targeted, dynamically adjusting advice and exercises
