I’m so excited to announce the next step I’ll be taking in my veterinary journey to get certified in exotic animal medicine with @ImproveVetEducationUS
As some of you may or may not know, veterinarians are trained in the basic medicine of the most common species in vet school, but this often does not include exotic species, at least not super in-depth.
To become well-versed in exotics, you often have to do outside training such as attending continuing education conferences, or better yet, becoming board-certified.
Board certification is a step higher, and this is where you go through a specific program and pass various tests to certify that you have advanced knowledge about a specific topic, and in my case, exotic species.
The most commonly known route is to go through a formal internship and residency, and although these programs are very well respected and are great for providing advanced education, many veterinarians are unable to do this for various reasons (salary, family, location, etc.).
Although I may pursue these other paths in the future, at this time in my life signing up for the Improve GPCert in Exotic Animal Practice was the right choice for me.
Improve Veterinary Education is a postgraduate training program originally based out of the UK, that now provides courses and certification all over the world through the ISVPS, or International School of Veterinary Postgradute Studies.
Through Improve, I’m looking forward to going through regulated training that enhances my knowledge and leads to an internationally-recognized qualification.
The Exotic Animal Practice online course is taught by some of the leaders in our field, and there are even some in-person hands-on surgical workshops offered as well.
Registration is still open, so if you’d like to join me, I highly recommend checking out their website through the link in my bio.
You can use my code “IVE.EXO.PET.VET” for 5% off not only the exotic animal course, but most of their certificate programs!
Be sure to stay tuned for updates on how I like the course!
