Arni. You should check some channels from some of the non/State sponsored YT creators like Chopsticks and Trains or Cinthia Lin. Quite unsure of how practical it would be but a collab with anyone of them would be cool.

@@jaydee6268 Embracing Xi's thought or not, it is irrelevant. But do you really understand what Xi's thoughts? He is just an elected leader that loves his country deeply.

Hi there! Welcome to Shanghai! I used to teach at East China Normal U and at Jiaotong U. I hope you have a great time wherever you're studying. If you have time, try to travel out to the rural areas in the south and west where a lot of minority people live. It's amazing to see their traditions and culture, plus life there can be like plunging back to the past -- sometimes people plow their field with a water buffalo instead of using technology. I saw you eating at Dicos -- actually, if you ever eat somewhere where everything seems kind of dirty and you're worried about food safety, the two safest choices are Dicos and Hui Muslim noodle restaurants. Dicos are always sanitary. Hui people care a lot about both cleanliness and honesty, so you'll get a great bowl of fresh noodles without having to worry that you'll get sick or that you're being charged too much because you're a stranger.

not sure how long u would be in China but definitely recommend taking advantage of its convenient train system. The Yangtze Delta region, with its center being Shanghai, has the highest density of high-speed train systems in China. So it would be very easy to travel to other tier 2 & 3 cities nearby Shanghai over the weekends. My favorite are Suzhou, Nanjing, and Hangzhou. Yiwu market is also an interesting place to see if u have time.

I am thinking about studying in Tainan, Taiwan. Since you studied in Taiwan, are you familiar with Tainan as well? Thanks!
@ArniJ.9 ай бұрын
Firstly, thanks for your comment. It feels good to hear that you like the videos. Secondly, I didn’t spend much time outside Taipei, but I visited Tainan once for a weekend. For what I could see it was largely the same from a foreigners perspective. Of course people in Taipei claim there is a huge difference between the cities, but the cities have generally the same aesthetic, mabye Tainan having a bit less people. The weather is a bit warmer down there and the food was allegedly sweeter. Still, it’s a quick train ride pretty much everywhere if you want to visit other cities.

As a chinese living at USA, it is cumbersome for me to travel to China. First, I was not able to buy a temp SIM card. Second, my wechat pay account could not be activated, becuase I didnt have a credit card in mainland china. Third, I booked hotel online. They refused to check me in, because my daughter holds USA passport. And they didnt refund me. Fourth, everybody can use digital train ticket. I cannot. Have to wait in a long queue to get the paper ticket. I am still chinese citizen. I have my passport. My china ID is expired. Yes, China is way ahead of the rest of world on digitalization. But regulation is not friendly to traveler at all. I hope it can be improved.
@ArniJ.9 ай бұрын
Sounds like a lot of hassle. Still, It feels like things are moving into a smoother direction. I didn’t have much problems with anything else than the sim card and mabye exchanging money. When those things are sorted it’s much easier to do daily tasks.

When was the last time you check your WeChat account? It's so easy to link your credit cards now..Alipay also very easy to link with cc. Buying simcard is very easy..they just need your passport and once inserted, voila..it works..make sure the VPN is already installed on your cell phone.
