A lot of K-pop fans in general were initially turned off by how young NCT Dream's concepts and songs were, and only really tuned into them maybe a couple of years later when their sound matured a bit more, but honestly, I'm glad SM let them be kids when they were kids. They didn't force the Dreamies to do sexy concepts or sing inappropriate lyrics, etc. They were able to grow on their own slowly.

chewing gum was fr my guilty pleasure when it came out 😭 it was just so fun and one of my non kpop friends really loved it too. crazy bc we were both the emo kids in school secretly listening to the most bubblegum pop music i think ive ever heard at the time 💀 seeing mark and haechan go between the 2 concepts in 127 vs dream was insane fr like youre telling me they went from firetruck to chewing gum???? even crazier bc mark and i are the same age and bro was doing that kind of young ass concept while i was preparing for college

We Young is not my fav title track of theirs but I must say the choreo is simply amazing! It's incredibly challenging as are most of their choreos. Also highly recommend the Performance version of My First and Last with all the choreo (by the legendary Tony Testa). Dream are an amazing group of performers and their choreos are some of my absolute favourites (it was actually the dance aspect of kpop that originally drew me in years ago) Their newest album is Dream( )Scape and it's amazing. The teasers films they released first were also beautifully and creatively done. Possibly their best mini album ever...

I’m excited to see your NCT Dream journey and I think the format in which you’ve been reacting to NCT 127 is perfectly fine for this! ❤ NCT Dream’s early title tracks are for sure bright and reflective of their youth, even some later tracks like “Hello Future” or “Beatbox” retain that vibe somewhat. But their discography grows with them in variety of different genres though and having listened to their recent EP, it’s like they expanded their sound yet again 👌🏻✨

i completely agree with being uncomfortable with young kids debuting as idols. the only reason i'm okay with dream at this stage is that they were clearly marketed as kids performing for other kids. nothing uncomfortable or sexual about it, which was an issue in sm with taemin and others before him for example, and now with a lot of young kids in popular girl groups that do not have "young" concepts. For dream, at this age they only had comebacks during the summer during school break, and their schedule was not very intense. they also had so many older members in nct who watched over and supported them, so i feel like they were able to be "kids" in the industry in a much better way than a lot of others. (not saying they didnt go through any hardships due to their age though, of course they did.)

I really liked the concept of My First and Last because young boys do get crushes on their teachers and I loved the little touches of humor in the MV. By the way, the literal translation of the Korean title is "my last first love" which is so clever as you can only have a first love once. 😊 Looking forward to more DREAM!

Super excited to see you start the Dream part of the NCT Journey! The members are Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle and Jisung. Mark is the leader as well! All 7 members are in "Chewing Gum", but from "My First and Last" and "We Young", there's only 6 of them because Jaemin had a herniated disk injury and was out all 2017. He returned for "Go" in 2018 though and has been there ever since. "Chewing Gum" is so cheesy and "kidz bop" but it really is a bop, which I respect! Age appropriate thankfully, but still fun to listen to. 4/7 of them were born in 2000 like me, so I was 16 as well when they debuted and that's when I discovered them. Even then I thought it was a lil TOO cutesy, but I still loved it. SM is not a company that deserves praise much, but I can appreciate them letting kids be kids. 3:14 It's funny you say this because hair down on idols is usually the baby signal to me, like they look much younger to me with their foreheads covered and hair up is the symbol that they're going for something more chic and grown up lol 6:14 You HAVE to watch the Hoverboard performance video for "Chewing Gum". The Dreamies killed that choreo lol 7:19 I 100% get that. For me, it's different for Dream because I WAS the same age as them when they debuted and I've followed them this whole time, so I've matured WITH them. But looking at all these new groups, I enjoy the music, but I rarely enjoy the content and watching these young young groups perform. I just feel too old for all that lol and I feel bad because of how toxic, manipulative and exploitative this industry is. Numerous idols who debuted young like BoA, Taemin, Jungkook, even NCT Dream have spoken up about how mentally, physically and socially distressing it was for them. Jisung from Dream has even had to deal with being sexualized as 14 YEAR OLD like that's batshit insane and unacceptable "My First and Last" was my favorite NCT Dream song for YEEEEAARS this shit is so goood. AND it won NCT as a whole their first ever music show win! I think from "The 7th Sense", "Without You" (Both NCT U songs you haven't seen yet obviously), "Firetruck", "Chewing Gum" and "Limitless" they hadn't won on any music shows, but "My First and Last" got the ball rolling on that front. I'm not someone that cares about views or wins or accolades, but I do think it's cool that it was the NCT babies that did it first lol 9:56 Yeah this was Mark's fried hair era (it coincided with "Limitless" as well) 14:43 "My First and Last" was actually the first comeback! It was on the same album as "Chewing Gum", but "Chewing Gum" was released as their debut single first in 2016 and then included on the "My First and Last" ep in 2017. "We Young" is still my LEAST favorite NCT Dream song lol idk what it is I just do NOT like it. But I always play it on my summer playlist, it's kinda like 127's "0 Mile" or "Heartbreaker" in that I'm not crazy about it, but it fits the summer vibes lol 20:40 Super excited for the journey as well, but I do wanna say in case you're expecting otherwise, Dream have much more mature songs and some EXTREMELY different, especially more recently, but they have never truly left that bright pop sound, that is their signature. They will always have bouncy light hearted, and heavily pop influenced tracks and even still some bubblegum ones. I know you have an open mind and can appreciate it all regardless, I only say it because SOME reactors or new listeners get caught up in nctzens saying the music matures and they think that means Dream leave that sound behind and they get disappointed and negative when that's not the case.

I don’t expect (or even want) them to ditch the real bright vibrant sounds completely! Maintaining that sound throughout their discography is actually a really cool marker to see how their sound has evolved within their general concept. Super excited!

I had only listened to their songs, "we go up " being the first one , but it was not until ridin' that i learnt their names and faces. I'd say definitely they are my favourite nct unit in terms of songs. And i liked your reactions btw !!!! First time here, but enjoyed it ! I know what you mean about kid idols....yeah, it feels weird. I felt that too. But now that they are older, it feels fine looking back haha. Especially since their concept matched their ages.

there’s just s very creepy theory about my first and last mv😭😂so basically they all were in the same class, but something tragic happened and guys d*ed and their souls are still in that school, but she grew up and now she’s teacher there, the boys are ghosts who are preparing their gift that they were supposed give when they were kids😭 but they died and prepared gift (carton cars😭) as ghosts, but at the end of the mv, they saw how she now has her own happy family and red car they all dreamed of😭 whenever they approach her, it seems she doesn’t see them, so that’s where the “ghosts” theory comes from and lyrics saying “No matter where I am, even in my dreams Oh, you're the only one for me I'll risk my life to tell you There won't be a second chance You're my last love” “Even if I could go back to the past and find the way out I can't find my way back”

One of the funniest thing for me is Mark and Haechan switch between concepts in dream and 127 😂 it would be funnier if it didn’t mean they have been overworked like hell for years. Personally 127 has more my style of music, but dream’s older songs are super catchy and fun, I love the colorful videos

I'm going to be honest and say Dream is not my favourite NCT unit. However, watching their journey and their growth, is in itself pretty inspiring. They have matured and shown their talents as a unit and as individuals and that makes me proud to be an NCT fan. Oh, and "My First and Last" has never left my spotify playlist 🥰
