You seem almost as excited about the game as you were about your white board when you got it, but in all seriousness it feels like you have been re-enthused with the game you always seemed to enjoy it but now it feels like you enjoy it as much as you did near the start and I love it. Keep smiling and loving your work man.

The game's looking really neat! I noticed it looks like you're using structures/data tables for item data. You may want to look into Data Assets, which I think are a lot easier for storing and iterating on data. From what I understand about unity, they're similar to its scripted objects.

Thank you for the words of wisdom, I'll be sure to look into it!

Glad to hear you're making progress with Unreal, been somewhat torn myself between sticking with Unreal or going back to Unity, but Unreal seems to have so many more features already built in that I'd have to make myself or download from the asset store (and likely pay for) if I was using Unity.

Give it a try and see if it's right for you, I don't begrudge anyone who's still using Unity, it's still an awesome tool!

Hey man! It's really interesting project and I hope it goes well. I'm 3d game character artist here but I highly do not recommend using UDIM system for game. It's mainly used for VFX industry or when you just want to make something and render it out. It's not really practical and we don't used it in the games industry. instead , I would recommend you to pack your assets in a 0 to 1 uv space. For this very simple and stylized model, packing character and outfit in a single texture map would be good enough. If you need to swap out clothing then put the clothing in the another texture map whilst maintaining consistent Texel density. That will make sure that all the asset will receive same amount of details and it is the key to achieve good visuals. For the props, it's good idea to pack multiple objects together (ideally same type of objects together (eg. cup,plate..) ) instead of making assets and UVing them one by one. More textures you use, Unreal need to draw call textures. Draw calls have huge impact on performance so it's best to optimize it so everyone can play this game regardless of the platform they play it on. But anyway good luck on this man!

After the unity 'incident' i switched over to godot, found it great, but very "awkward", it was great but felt like its still very new, so i am using it for mobile games, so i also tried out unreal engine, and i gotta say, it is in a word, different, very powerful, very strange, using blueprints is weird, but the in editor lighting and world creation and many amazing assets made it my new game engine, if your gonna make more of the devlog, please share new cool things you discover

Sounds stressful to have to switch engines while developing a game.
