I think the begonias have to be started the same time as the Lizzie’s. They are very slow lol. Coleus is fun to grow. I grow petunias as well. They always do well. I tried them in soil blocks for the first time last year and was quite impressed so will do it again. Good luck with yours!

I just planted my petunias & coleus last night as well! 😁 I grow a lot of my own bedding plants & plants for containers to save money also. There are a couple of containers, though, that I purchase Proven Winners plants for (like the ones flanking my garage & front & side doors) , that I purchase, because you just cannot find any thing from seed that is as good and as productive & gets as large! Like Proven Winners' supertunias. (Especially the supertunia vistas!)😮 It never ceases to amaze me how big just ONE supertunia will get! Since they've been bred to be sterile, & not produce seed, the plant can send all of its energy into blooms instead of seeds. I was hesitant for a while to purchase them because they were so much more expensive, but theyre soooo worth it! I'm so glad I finally did! However, I am also wanting to sell hanging baskets on the future, & I know some peilople cant afford the Pw (or sometimes they dont NEED something that gets so huge, because they just want a small plant in a little pot), so this spring I am trialing a few varieties I purchased from Geo Seed that are suppisedly really similar to PW. Im super excited!

I have my petunias and begonias seeded also. I know begonias take a long time to grow. Last year I gave up, this year I am determined to

I’m so happy I watched this video this morning. I needed a little motivation to get going on my petunias, begonias and other annuals. Thought I was too late. I just can’t stomach paying $6-7. Per annuals and some I can’t even find. Especially for all the pots and landscape. I failed on some seeds beginning of February tried to sow impatiens’s for sun again and some others. It was a fail. Could have been that I used old seed mix from last year or just wasn’t on top of watering just right. Maybe putting vermiculite on them was a bad idea. However, the lisianthus seed is loving life right now. I find them easier to grow. I’ve got some still alive in my raised beds. I live in zone 6 NE KS. January was like living in Alaska every thing frozen in negative temps. Maybe the snow helped insulate?? Idk have you had luck with lisianthus still alive after winter?

Snow definitely insulates!! I haven’t tried having Lisianthus out in temps this cold but they definitely can take a frost

I planted bergonia seeds for the first time this year 😂😂😂 they are tiny, and I have no idea how long it takes to get to full size, but my magnifying glass tells me not any time soon😂

I might find that out too! 🤦♀️

Coleus and pansies do well for me from seed. I tried begonias last year and had no luck. They germinated but were so slow to size up. I gave up on babying them and they sadly did not make it. Would love to see how yours come along!

Hoping mine do ok! 🤞

When did you order? Where did you order them from? I usually plan my garden & farm in the fall & order seeds no later than December to make sure I have everything in time. Especially Geo Seed, because you don't know if things are sold out until your order is being prepared & shipped.
@ElderandOakFarm11 ай бұрын
But you still have time for everything except for Lisianthus! So don't worry!

Did you, or are you going to cover the petunias with vermiculite and how much do you use? (heavy or Lite) Thanks
@SunshineFlora11 ай бұрын
I am not. I didn’t last year and they grew very well
@rbirdrose11 ай бұрын
Thank you, for the answer. I didn't last year and they seem just fine. Glad I'm not the only one that skipped it.

What company do you buy your jade coleus and ambassador begonia from?

Harris Seed

Please explain why you are not planting these seeds in soil blocks. You planted the tiny snapdragon seeds in soil blocks.The pelleted seeds are easy to plant. I'm sure you have a rationale. I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for making them.

I’m going to let them grow in these cell trays as long as possible and then pot up to 4 inch pots. Last year I had great luck with these trays for bedding flowers so just keeping it the same
