this game brings back memories, the vehicles are historically accurate and I was able to ride along in them as a kid, the music is what you would hear in films and tv programs and you would have a house of culture in towns, so funny

Great series so far. Ofc, you are way ahead now, but I like to explain. If your heating plant is a bit understaffed for one shift you are fine. Unlike electricity, heat provides a bit of a buffer. So producing a bit to little heat from time to time is acceptable, as long there are enough workers available on average.

7:28 the RCO will not actually put demolition waste in there, it'll put it either mixed together in its internal waste storage or to a dump/waste transfer station connected via factory connection and separate if setup that way

I've made it to episode 8 so far, and even though these episodes are an hour long, they are so incredibly dense with useful information. I swear I can't look away because I got half way in to episode 9 and realized I wasn't paying attention when you put down the rail construction office. Bravo for making what could be dry content very engaging! Thanks bballjo. You're helping me have a successful realistic mode city in this game

Thank you very much! Often when I record an episode, I start, do the intro, and then look at the clock and it says 51mins...when I point that out it's actually real..there is no "let me just quick..." In this game.

Thank you for the videos, they are awesome! I have 1800hrs of WR:SR and still I pick up a thing or two every time! :D Nice tip about 6 container truck I guess I've missed it somehow. I had a dry-bulk storage full of cement burnt to the ground ... 2500 tons of mixed waste. I wish I knew about it back than. I love the weather in this game (especially fog, it's really cool here), but that shining white snow is killing my eyes. Most of the time I use F3 mode as a brightness filter of sorts, otherwise I can't stand it

Another option to deal with trains from the depot going to the fuel station is to electrify your rails from the beginning.
@bballjo5 ай бұрын
You can't refuel trains with electricity...we call that a cop out ;)
@MrHaggyy10 сағат бұрын
The common solution for real trains would be fuel lines. They split to the side from the two main lines and are usually integrated into regular freight and service tracks. On a freight station you would need the typical 200-450m, on a service track it's usually just the locomotive. Which one is being used depends on how flexible or fixed the train assembly used to be.

I was pretty sure roundabouts made everything slower, especially if you add nodes together so traffic stops even further away. I predict issues IF traffic becomes enough to need something other than a simple X-roads junction. Loving the series. Just bought the game this weekend and muddling through my own realistic mode. How do you control what kind of path your buildings get when connecting to a road? My buildings built off an asphalt road get asphalt paths, those built off gravel roads get gravel paths, and I don't know how to change this?
@bballjo4 ай бұрын
Its always the same "tier" of road. You can't change it afaik
@Yarmoss4 ай бұрын
Oh, thats a shame. Guess I shouldn't have laid an asphalt road to begin with for my downtown. It took sooo long for anything to get built with each building with a road connection getting its own little 5m of asphalt connection haha! Thanks for the response 👍

Does 2 road lane roundabout have better capacity or anyhing than 1 lane road one? Also you dont have a good entrances angles so vehicles enter slowly.(Or is it on popuse?)
@bballjo5 ай бұрын
I left the entrance angles as 90 to see what happens if the exit angles are better...i.e. is the internal flow better...looks like it would have been better to make both angles smoother

26:23 Consider a third option: Make this return in the same location, but do it on an individual track parallel to the one that passes through the depot, so that the train that has just fueled up, when making the return, will not block the train delivering crops. And this will also open up the possibility for the crop delivery train to go ahead and refuel on the same runabout. You solve rail traffic jam, train fuelling and train delivery with a few metters of rail at the same spot and time. Thank me later.

@@bballjo I may have missed it but I've been following along and definitely missed the double prefab research portion as well as a few utilities around the town. I think you placed a water and sewage towards the bottom two flats near the fire station. Another I feel I missed was a portion of the power lines running to the substation in front of the large heating plant. The research for prefabs was going in the last episode but I don't remember the double prefab research being chosen.

Once you are in such high debt you might recover but you lose a lot of time. It is better to completly avoid any debt. So the question is how did you play and what did you invest in? bballjo saved a lot of money by skipping the large heat plant and the water treatment and by inviting 3rd world people efficently, while rushing nuclear research. One way to get rid of money problems is to build large farms first and export the grain. If you go for a city first you are better off using smaller versions of buildings and start any kind of export, be it alcohol, clothing or even gravel and from there save money to start new projects without a loan if possible. Oil is super efficent, pump jacks need no workers and only one truck each to export, without building expensive pipes early.
