If you are able to afford to mend the kitchen stove and chimney, it will help heat the whole house. The central chimney breast acts like a storage radiator, and the whole house will be more liveable. Think l speak for everyone when l say l would contribute to a crowd fund. It would not require anything from you in return, but would be funded with good wish for your comfort. And that stove is really cute lol!

Thank you for bringing us on your journey!! what a project! As an avid gardener, I love that you are incorporating wildflowers! If you are looking for advice with regard to the turf, (If you're not looking for advice; I also completely understand!) - I personally have stopped removing turf, and instead sheet mulching it. Most of the beneficial nutrients and soil life are in the first few centimeters, so it is better for plants not to remove it. I personally find it easiest to do this with secondhand cotton bed sheets that I get from thrift shops, and mulch (leaf mold, earth, wood chips, compost or whatever you find in the forest) on top. Just sow your flower seeds directly in there. You can cut little holes in the fabric for biggest plants, After a few seasons, the fabric and grass underneath it will have composted nicely. - If you want to remove turf, you can place the turf upside down in a pile ( so the grass doesn't keep growing) and they will turn quite quickly into really good soil for your garden. also makes for a good filling of raised beds if you'd want them. best of luck, the place looks great!!

If you ever need a room with a permanent bed you could always renovate the attic and turn it into a sleeping area. But don’t listen to suggestions from us, do what is most functional for you. I basically live in my bed because its the place where I am most comfortable, I have no pain. So for me a big, comfortable permanent bed is a must. If its not that important and you want to be more flexible a pullour bed is perfect. My parents have a murphy bed but they actually used the closet in which the murphy is situated as a dividing wall to separate that guestroom from their L shaped living room. Most of the time its a tv nook with a rolling door, but when one of us stays over it magically presto can be turned into a guest room. There is no such thing as standard, just do what you need. Separate guest rooms are kinda a waste of space since they get used so little for people to stay over so its great if they can be used for other functions too. I see that in sweden they often have separate little guest houses which I think is genious if you have the ground space.

You, Rosie, so a great job of prioritizing. It’s hard to shift gears sometimes! In the summer, the outdoors; gardening, cutting grass, clearing shrub, cutting firewood, painting outside structures all takes priority over the inside work. It’s like this for everyone! My mom used to say, in the summer, the inside work suffers! I don’t worry anymore about getting EVERYTHING done because it’s not practical. One does what’s needing to be done at hand. The rest will get done later.

There is a moth whose caterpillars can also occur en masse (Lymantria dispar, Spongy moth). They eat whole trees bare. However, once they have finished eating and pupate, the trees will recover on their own. The problem will probably solve itself without having to thwart this insect!! Isn't there a farmer nearby who can help you work part of your garden? Once you have sown the herbaceous plants, it is often a good idea to mow part of the area early. In other words, phased mowing. Doing this before the grasses can set seed will suppress the grass and give the herbaceous plants a chance. An early mowing also means that those herbaceous plants will probably still bloom in the autumn. Of course, then you need good weather (rain) during the summer, but that is not known in advance. Good luck.
@lynnrouse44845 күн бұрын

To get rid of unwanted pests like beetles, attract the birds...I have seen it and it does work. even if you make your own birdseed bird food. They will eat the pests. One thing u could do with all of the turf you dig up is to make it into a rockery by putting the cut grass slabs upside down, soil on the top, and pile it up into a big mound. When all the grass has died back put big stones in the rockery and put new soil in between all the stones and plant alpines or other kinds of small plants in amongst the rocks. Just an idea ❤

Otherwise deer will have no problem jumping over it and eating your plants and flowers and fruit trees. I would focus on building a tall and strong fence first, then chip away at your other projects. It's a good security measure too. I would setup some security cameras too. Hopefully to just capture the wildlife.
