In this video we will complete the aft fuselage carry-through spar. It was actually a lot of work to make this small piece. I've also noticed that a lot of the tedious work that I had to do on the Cruzer is already completed at the factory on the Super Duty! I love how Zenith continues to make these airplanes faster and easier to build.
PRODUCTS I'VE USED:
Antislip Tape: amzn.to/2TzU32s
Adel Clamps: amzn.to/3ztVsI0
Snap Bushing (you NEED these): amzn.to/3gryDfm
Dremel Flap Wheel: amzn.to/3ztmXle
Air Hose: amzn.to/3wrqezA
Air Hose Fittings: amzn.to/3iIf2dB
Paint Gun (works GREAT for smaller parts): amzn.to/3vqDgMa
Air Filter for Paint Gun: amzn.to/3iHhfX2
USB Data Port (for Dynon): amzn.to/3iLsiOL
My Microphone: amzn.to/35likMa
Paint Mix Cups: amzn.to/2RSM4gc
Fly Cutter (for fuel sender): amzn.to/3gvgXzO

for the rivets that you are adapting/ sanding filing, if you drop them in before you tighten the screws on that part, you don't need to file or sand them. They just drop in.

The artists at work, nothing like seeing small components come together to create a part of the project. It is so satisfying to see a part completed. appreciate all the details in the instruction manuals and figures it really helps to put this project together. Thanks again for the detail video! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

There is an easy way to remove grooves from your scotch brite wheel. You take a small plank to which you glue a 80 grit sand paper, you rest the edge of the plank on your workbenche below the wheel the sand psper facing up, then you press up the part of the plank with sand paper on it to the wheel. You will then be able to shave your scotch brite wheel and have it flat again. Hope it is clear.

That is true. The problem is that those grooves really come in handy for cleaning the edges of aluminum! I just need to get a second one!

Great! We'll watch it tonight over dinner. Would you offer in one of these videos, for example, how much time you consumed building the fuselage (of course when you've completed that section). Zenith told me their quick build, which is essentially the fuselage, saves about 250-300 build hours. My sense watching your work on this section and the three videos on this same section at homebuilthelp.com might suggest the time to build the fuselage is less than 250-300 hours.

Mark can I see holes in the rear of the top cross member if so what are they for? Have they improved the seatbelt to 4 point unlike the Cruzer or I’m I seeing things. Looking like another great build
@KitplaneEnthusiast

Because of the top window over the jumpiest, there is more structure on the top skin. The holes yo are referring to on the aft part of the spar are where a bracket attached that connects a large "U" channel to the underside of the top skin. I did buy the 4-point harness and I believe they attach somewhere up there too-I'll have to wait to see how they attach until I get to that step.

Interesting...I am the 36th person to see the video and there are 4 thumbs up and no thumbs down and eight comments. That means some folks are overlooking the evaluation. That evaluation is important to viewership credit. I would want to improve that stat.

Just curious, are you keeping track of how many rivets are used or do the plans already say how many are used?

I asked Sebastian Heintz at the open house. He told me it’s around 7000.

In the inventory sheet it lists something like 7,000 A5 rivets and 7,000 A4 rivets. But no, the plans do not tell you the total amount of rivets.

FWIW... my rivet stem container filled up yesterday. My son decided to count them. 3400 + rivet stems, and that is on the Cruzer Elevator, HS, Rudder, and the bottom wing skins.

If the stems are ferrous you could use this. Amazon also sells a longer reach version so you don't have to bend over www.amazon.com/dp/B00HTN659G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_LNR0FbEP1DFKV

Mark, are ALL the rivets on the plane "CHERRY" type POP rivets? DO you fill in the Heads around the popped shaft and the mushroom head with anything to make them flush before painting? So that they look finished like a solid Bucked rivet.
@KitplaneEnthusiast
@KitplaneEnthusiast 3 жыл бұрын
There are some solid rivets, but those are bucked at the factory.
@thomasaltruda
@thomasaltruda 3 жыл бұрын
Daniel, I don’t believe they are “Cherry” or “Cherry Max” rivets, but they are structural rivets from the factory that they determine are strong enough. I don’t know if they are self plugging, I believe they are, but I’m not building a Zenith myself. I’ve flown them and they retain the pulled rivet look, they aren’t flush.

@@AnonyMous-jf4lc No since the part's are all done on the CNC, if you use clecoes to hold the parts in place, Might have to run a drill bit threw just to clean but that should be it.
