We are Heather, Bradey, Alexa and Chloe. We purchased an abandoned stone barn in the foothills of the Italian Alps and we are working together as a family to renovate and restore this old stone barn into our dream home.

Every village in Italy has a big clock tower. I chimes every 15 minutes. I have learned to recognize bells for announcements like funerals, vespers at 6 pm, early mass. They are magical.

Yes, to know you'll have that view when all that hard work is done has got to be a giant incentive! It was funny when you asked that goat "What are you doing up there?", he looked back like "What are you doing DOWN THERE??!" I did notice, when I was there, that the Italians do have a decided preference for lots of shiny tile, floor to ceiling, in bathrooms. Glad you won that battle! 😊

@@deb7518 Not anymore from floor to ceiling. Now, apart the shower area which is some 220cm, it is common up to 100/120cm and then painted up to the ceiling.

You should bar the doors and windows to keep the goats out, they could chew the wiring and pipework, and do untold damage, they will eat anything. Even netting may be enough.

I KNOW--I can't believe you leave those door ways open to them. Put up some kind of motion sensored security alarm or lighting to go off. But definitely fit some kind of temporary doors

I'm thinking the same. Perhaps a 2.5ft. tall hog wire, kinda like a child...or dog gate, used to block the entry. Still get air and light, and removable whenever. I've heard goats climb....not jump? Not sure bout that, lol.

Hi Brady, I've been following you for a while because I have a house more or less similar but smaller than yours, it's in Val Varaita in Piedmont, I'm from there, but as for the bathroom, if you want exposed stone I recommend a transparent waterproofing for humidity, protect the stone, then with a beautiful tile that matches the complete covering. Italian finishing products are the best you can find in the world, you are spoiled for choice. You will see that it will be a beautiful house. On the other hand, goats are cute, they are a bit annoying, they have become fond of them, you can use them as a burglar alarm or for milk. You are very good at everything you do, you have an excellent work team, people from Bergamo or Brescia can be heard from their accent, they are hard workers.

After stuff is done, you probably need to set up temporary electric fences for while to teach these goats to stay away ;D Other thing that came to mind after seeing you take those nails off the board, is using magnet to pick up all the metal from property after clean up starts. I would also have to say even though I'm not Italian, I'm used to bathrooms being wetrooms, so exposed wall while looking extremely nice, would seem kinda iffy to me. Especially next to bath that can easily splash.
