Genuinely curious why fiverr is better for creatives? Often artists seem to undersell their art for competitive rates that the website itself undersells. Like I know the bad with ai, I think it’s a good tool but tool only (critics said a lot of the same with photoshop 30 years ago), and from the other comments it seems like the trendiness is the problem with the gimmick of the video. But I hated that fivver trend. And some KZbinrs took it wayyy too far affecting the person/creative vs an image search algorithm with creative results. Like I’m glad the only work taken away from a creative was Kelsey’s own work, the results were disappointing, but she put hours of her own time in it vs wasting someone else’s time for a gimmick. Idk, I feel like I’m going too hard on the pro ai when there’s a lot of issues and Google keeps firing their ai ethics employees. But fivver always felt gross and exploitative and set the expectation for cheap artistic labor. Is it not as bad as it seems?

Agree with everyone who complained about the pointlessness and moral questions re: doing an AI video. But I have to add: What is it with DIYers putting “vintage” rugs (some really are) in bathrooms. It’s a terrible idea, especially if they really are old (way to ruin something venerable!). Rugs for bathrooms need to be washable for obvious (ugh) reasons. And need to be able to manage frequent damp conditions and spills.

I am not a fan of AI and how it's trained on stolen art. I use Planner 5D. If you pay a small fee (like $5 a month or something) you can completely customize everything for height, width, color, all of that. And it puts things to scale and is just pretty easy to work with once you get used to it. Plus they offer a rendering service too, and you can do 2D and 3D floorplans.

I feel like the ai angle was a fun attempt for a video but seems like a time waster in the grand scheme of design choice. It's not very intuitive or creative. If you can whip up a mood board of your exact wants in under half an hour, that makes the ai aspect kind of pointless imo

To hide the back wall in a non-permanent way; use magnets. For example: use thin multiplex boards (which you can paint, wallpaper, etc). Attach strong magnets to the back of the plate. Use metal brackets on the wall to correspond with the magnets. Easy removable back wall!

I think part of the reason why you were "not getting the results [you] wanted" was because of the fact that you already knew what you wanted as the final product from the AI and it wasn't producing a picture of your thoughts 1:1 -- you simply have too clear a vision for your space already and AI cant match that at the moment :)

yeah, i thought the exact same thing. all the images we saw created are bound to have stolen art in them or at least stolen art was used to train them. this is actually really dissapointing. and thats not us refusing to move with the time. some things are just ethically wrong, and ai training on stolen art [or bots trained on stolen written works] is just one of those. i didnt watch the whole video, because i honestly really am not intersted in ai, but i did watch the short conclusion, and while kelsey end up on "my brain is the best tool", there was still the "give tips on how to use ai for interior design" and ai just is morally questionable at the least, when its all built on stealing people's work. and, as you said, an aknowledgment of the backlash at least wouldve been... Yes, AI is here to stay. However, that doesn't mean it's not worth being vocal about ethics in how it's implemented. I think it's super obvious with the strike of the WGA that right now, corporations are only interested in speculating on its potential to make money. And therefore, they don't care about how it is affecting people whose work is being used without consent for the data sets. And they also clearly don't care about how it is affecting job security for creatives. We can have AI *and* care about these things, to be clear. We need to just ask for it. If I had a platform of 2.16 million subscribers, I would not be throwing my hands up and saying "Oh well. This'll do well with SEO. And if people don't like it, at least the negative comments will drive up engagement," because that's an extremely cynical way to look at things. And if you're a conscious enough person to care about sustainability, but not this, that selectiveness doesn't go unnoticed. It's super uncomfortable, as a viewer. It emulates the greenwashing of much less moral corporate entities. I like this channel, so I hope this honesty comes off as constructive and not just complaining for the sake to complain.

ai as a technology being here to stay is one thing, but in the current tech landscape, it’s nothing more than a bunch of nice taglines and predatory techniques. i get wanting to be uptodate, but I don’t love this move, especially with a ton of artists (independent creators, khm) being loudly against it, since this technology uses their artwork without their consent. it’s the amazon of software, and, just as amazon, it’s pricing out actual human creators.

for the laundry room another renter friendly DIY was using magnetic strips, thin wood strips like a 1"by 2" and a thin board of choice material. With the magnetic sticky strips attach to the strips of wood adding the strips to them and screwing the wood strips on the wall with the magnet strips facing you and then adding the magnetic strips on one back side of the thin board after having it cut into what ever shape needs to cover the pipes and wires and such, then just stick them together an Voila! it comes off the wall for easy access and its not heavy to move around and not very expensive

Laundry room: you could mount some furring strips on the back wall so you can mount a removeable panel covered in that tin tile or whatever. It's a tricky place, If you want a wood table top, you could mount it with a cleat and brackets underneath if there is enough space between water heater/appliance, etc or with a cleat and maybe hanging chains from the ceiling to support from that direction if there is not enough clearance between appliances.

I'm a BFA Digital Art student and just finished my thesis project (that took two years to do) showcasing how AI can be intergrated into my 3D art practice. While I mostly used a neural style code, I've played around with Midjourney (and even a free one just like it!) and something I'm noticing is everyone doesn't include negative prompting. For example, in your layout design you could've given the ai "no furniture," or "no drawing" and also used terms like "architectural" probably would've helped you a lot more! When I'm first working with a new prompt I start very big and basic of terms just to see what the AI will give me, then I slowly add in the specfic details.

I know lots of people are claiming AI is an extinction level event. But these AI design videos provide comfort in that clearly AI is a long way off from Skynet. I’m a time fighter so I suppose I’m biased, but I think graph paper would work so much faster. Anyone else ever received advice to draw your room dimensions on graph paper and use paper cut outs for furniture? It’s so much easier for the average person to use. Bonus? You can get recycled graph paper and it’s compostable/recyclable.

I would love a procreate tutorial on how Kelsey/team uses it. I feel like all the tutorials are just ART and I just want the shortcuts for a color dropper or whatever. I thought this video was great though! I know the hot take is just to hate ai, and there are a LOT of problems with it., but Kelsey wasn’t going to outsource another designer. She definitely didn’t save herself time by using ai and trying different prompts. She gave it a lot of thought and attention to each program so it was an honest try and an honest review that it’s not for her. And the way Kelsey used each ai tool felt very similar to browsing Pinterest, but with the slight bonus of being able to customize some results to her space. Considering ai is going nowhere, I really liked watching this process and it felt ethical, educated, and, what ai should be, a tool in the process not the end result.

i have a suggestion about incorporating AI into interior designs. You guys should MOST definitely need to do more research, there are so many other interior design-based AI tools that is better. MidJourney is not cutting it, unfortunately. it's meant to create art, not accurately create a floorplan. it's using the prompt and pictures given as "inspiration" hence why you'll never get a floorplans / images that represent your actual space.

If you’re trying to cover the pipes in the laundry, maybe attach some floating shelves to the wall, but make them slightly deeper than normal (so that the death you want “begins” at the front edge of the pipe). Then built like a “fireplace cover” type thing with cutouts for the shelves, so that you essentially build a small wall that’s will sit on top of the bench top. Then just attach it to the back wall with a bunch of Velcro picture strips to hold it in place. That way if you need to access the pipes you can just pull the fake wall off and access them. Hope this helps 😊

I prefer taking a photo of the space and then drawing over it on Procreate on an ipad. I trace the walls/windows/features, then on new layers draw over them and you can paste in images of items you want in the space. When i designed our bathroom I took a picture from the hallway - it was tricky as it was a narrow space, so I had to use my imagination a bit to fill in the gaps from the photo. Then I drew in the bath position, I copied the floor tile texture from the companies website, and drew in the wall tiles myself. It helped everyone else in the house see my vision and was a great next step after the mood board. The bathroom is finished now and everyone absolutely loves it :) I'm doing the same thing to realize the design for our media room

Uploading a picture of your space as part of your /imagine prompt usually works better for rendering a made over image of your prompt. In general, midjourney basically works by rendering from 0 every single time it works, and it does this by filling in the next pixel based on statistical probability. Kind of like how chatGPT generates text by selecting the next word based on what's statistically most likely. So you're always going to get some things that aren't there, and it's always going to be hard to work in certain elements that it wasn't trained on as much

For the laundry room, I would go with something like a closet system like AURDAL, BOAXEL, or JONAXEL from Ikea on top of the washing machines. You could tile the inside of the side walls of the units? Or sliding panel doors that can be tiled? I would personally avoid tiling the wall area directly for ease of access to the pipes, plus the textured wall is nice! I would go with curtains to hide the pipes using the railing tops from a closet system, if I was planning that space.

For your laundry room maybe have the wood top over the machines and then have a faux wall that connects to it with hinges so it could drop down for access. Then on the faux wall install the detailed tin tiles. Not sure about shelving...😅

cool. for some unknown reason we have to watch you use AI to plan to decorate the most simple room imaginable. just because yall think this is here to stay doesnt mean you have to use it. arent you the person who talks up and down about not driving cars for moral reasons but for some reason we can just not only hand wave all those concerns under the guise of "technology is always right", but you also inexplicably compare it to the thing that you yourself have issues with. I just really don't understand why this was necessary. wasted 3 full minutes of the video trying to get the thing to spit out a picture when you could have 1) done it yourself or 2) hired someone else to do it. but now this is "inevitable" so you just *have* to use it. I honestly wouldn't have gone so hard against yall doing this, but yall have always tried to position yourselves as sustainable, thoughtful people so its a little surprising for you guys to just simply be okay with this without many other thoughts.

AI at this point is more of a novelty. It’s not set to be anything serious such as being used for this type of drawing. People use it in canva for imaginative but non realistic things. We played with it in that game way and it was hilarious. It could stimulate your imagination or copy a photo but your drawing is like drafting and that requires lots of math. I don’t think it will replace the human minds creativity because that doesn’t follow set rules.

I'm an architecture student and i think the reason why AI can't generate floor plans is probably because planning is a systematic thing. in technical planning, there is always a purpose why you put something in that specific space-- a thought process such as studying location of doors, windows, light and wind source, circulation, orientation, measurements, etc. it's not something AI can identify. at least yet. drawing floor plans may lean more to science than abstract inspiration which AI does.

I just feel like that for this particular case of using AI, Kelsey was never going to hire out a desginer herself because its literally what she does for a living and it was used in a way to get inspiration, so I dont exactly understand the criticism here. It didnt feel any different than someone using pinterest or other sources of inspiration to create a mood board/ design plan for themself. Obviously there are seaparte issues with AI creating art, but i just dont think thats a problem in this video

the question is not whethet thid particular design job would have gone to a human instead, that's just the general problem with midjourney. the issue here is TSG promoting midjourney, which is a fundamentally unethical tool.

My favorite way to design spaces is to use the Sims 4. I can find custom content furniture pieces in almost any design I need for free, plus the sims 4 base game is free to play now. I can create a floorplan in build mode and furnish it however I want. That's how I redesigned my real life bedroom when I moved.

I have use so many apps that requires me 0 effor to make anything manually. Myprofession is contractor, i am not an architech so i just need simple 3D room designer to communicate with my client regarding the design of the building. I'm using android so my best 2 apps that can create professional floor plan are 1. Floorplan creator (VERY SIMPLE AND USER FRIENDLY) 2. Room planner. Room planner can render the 2d plan into realistic room with lighting and all and can be viewed in 3d from 360° angle

Omg guys everyone is complaining about how AI steals work from other artists... She is not creating art! She is just getting inspired to style her physical spaces! And please lets remember that this channel has done a lot of dupes of expensive designer items, which is ok... AI used in this manner is NOT stealing Art! There is nothing morally reprehensible in using a tool in this way... Getting inspiration on Pinterest and copying others is basically the same thing

Hello, I agree with your view on AI but I see that besides being in its primitive form the perception is already flawed, with people in power mistaking it for a ready substitute and letting go employees. On the ethic perspective I also wish the only sources were public domain or authorized used by creator, so not only a tool to be perfectioned but in need of stricter regulation and inescapable of human control. Playing around with design-specific programs look fun, I hope you can finalize your vision! The stripes coffee table is so cool

For your laundry area….a piece of wood across the two appliances - as big as will fit - and then built a removable shelving unit to sit on top filling the space perfectly, and keeping it as lightweight as possible, in case you have to remove it to get to anything behind it. It should be backed, too, so nothing can fall behind. This will give you space for all your laundry needs. Collapsible laundry baskets are a must, and can even be hung from hooks (mine hang from a large Command hook).

I really didn’t like this :( I’m sorry, but I agree with what others have said about AI and regulations. I also feel that maybe not enough research was done before using the AI in regards to how it’s stolen other creatives work because I believe if the proper research has been done, you wouldn’t have chosen AI to do this part of the project, as fellow creatives. I love this channel but this didn’t sit well with me.

So glad to see the top comments are anti-AI its becoming a ridiculous topic that so many youtubers are using, but it literally had the trajectory to depleat availability of a variety of jobs, if youre going to mention AI, at least use your platform to talk about how detrimental its potential is and not an excuse for running out of creative flow.

i have a bias: not into ai video itself is very weak, ai doesn't give you what you want, so you just do it yourself, why then talk about those ai instruments if you didn't test a bunch to fish out those that useful for diys and design? at the end, the only thing we get is your own ideas, ai showing up for nothing and honestly could be cut out with those results.. but! i know content creation is hard work, and you need easy videos to make that will still generate clicks and views, i get it so yay for trying! if you really want those ai clicks, try to make stuff like ai generates something, and you make it reality kinda thing, maybe? /pos /no judgment
