If kodo eats a banshee, what happens from the lore perspective? Can the banshee still possess kodo from the stomach? Does she possess the beast or the rider? If kodo eats an abomination, that is generally good, because it stops spreading plague. But doesn't it infect the kodo considering that the thing is made of multiple rotting carcasses? If kodo is a herbivore beast from lore perspective, how does it eat and digest other units? Why can't a pack kodo also eat units? They are the same thing (refer to Rexxar campaign). Can kodo beast eat away your student loans?
@devourerofnuggets8 ай бұрын
1. Possession requires a great deal of concentration. She can't move while she's casting and if she gets stunned, it gets interrupted. Therefore it's safe to assume that the banshee cannot pull of a possession while being digested by a kodo. And obviously she possesses the rider, since he changes sides and starts to attack his former allies. 2. Kodo beasts exist in a world where the Undead exists, and have therefore evolved to consume their rotting meat if need be. 3. There aren't really herbivores in nature. Every animal is essentially an opportunistic carnivore. If a cow, a rabbit or a kodo stumbles across a dead animals, they are known to eat it. The only reason they typically don't eat meat is because they are pathetic and can't kill anything. Also, meat is always easier to digest than complex plant fibers and proteins. 4. They've been domesticated and are only allowed to eat when the orcs want them to eat. 5. While kodos are massive beasts, their mouth and stomach do have their limitation. They cannot possibly fit your massive student loan into their stomach, no matter how hard they try. Unfortunately you're going to have to pay off your own loans, or atleast die so you can avoid paying them.

I finished the RoC campaign for the first time ever tonight, and Warcraft 3 is my favorite game of all time! I got hooked on multiplayer as a 13 year old and never looked back. Not sure if I'm going to get back into multiplayer, but it's been really fun revisiting the game with your tier lists. Thanks! And here's a random story about my first interaction with Grubby ever if anyone cares to read. When Blizzard were testing out a completely new MMR system on the test realm rather than the "level" system, I cheesed it by quitting 7 games in a row and then winning 7 in a row and getting first on the test realm 1v1 ladder with a 7-7 record. I was a bad player at the time, and could never get past the level 9 plateau and had like a 30% 1v1 record. I queue up again after taking a (now lost) screenshot of my next opponent. "gl hf" "gl hf" "who is this?" "im a level 9 player on lordaeron, who is this?" "i don't believe you. im the top player on the european ladder" (grubby) *3 minutes later after we have our first skirmish* "now i believe you" and i proceeded to get demolished I don't know why, but that memory has stuck with me. I'm glad Grubby is still making content, and I'm glad Warcraft 3 is still alive even after Reforged tried to kill it. Looking forward to finishing this video and the rest of your content. Cheers!

At 50:00 ish I like how you demonstrate with a slower (than pro) gameplay. It shows how fast a new/casual player is normally when just learning these skills, and not doing it too fast. I really love the idea of slow -> smooth -> fast progression, and having examples that are non-pro speed probably take away the intimidation that we need to do task fast. We need to get smooth first, and then gradually ramping up.
@dreioo87598 ай бұрын
It's such an eye-opener. I made the mistake of practicing speed without understanding why I do the build orders. Better to learn by doing slowly and get faster naturally.

19:00 23:00 - Orc is easiest to learn but hardest to master (require a lot of micro on units later on, for example to beat elf) - Elf is not that easy to learn but after you learn the basics as elf you snowball in low lv mmr, and the higher mmr is the harder it is to you and because most of people are not pro players this is the best race for beginners to feel fulfilment unless it's vs rushy UD - Human is the hardest to learn and is hard to master (require a lot of micro early on, later on it's full focus on macro. Their win condition compared to other races is unit composition, counters etc and thats unique, gain the most from game knowledge like timeing pushes, tricks etc) - Undead easy to learn hard to master. Punished by small mistakes, meta is brutal. But if you don't do mistakes on map movement you can win just by having heroes alone.

I used to play DotA 1 with the Numpad Item Hotkeys… haha. It was insanity, and I was slower than the other players, but when I started I made it work, because of course I started with Warcraft 3’s Melee Default Hotkeys. Then I copied the Hotkeys other people did in the LAN, Alt+QWASZX, in DotA 1. When Dota 2 came around, I copied Dendi’s keys (with a few modifications like 2 and 5.), Legacy Keys from DotA 1 and all, because I hated needing Alt key modifier for my items all the time.

I'm actually shocked to learn that one of the goats of this game didnt really use custom keys. I remember discovering you could do it when I was struggling on the ladder, and I did something very similar to grid system with 'Q' 'W' 'E' 'R' being my hotkeys for basically everything, including macro, and my skill level, rank, and control of everything sky rocketed. I thought this must be how the pros play.

38:18 I think it's less "this has to be a good strategy" and more "the good strategy is properly judging fights or predicting outcomes, which I can't do yet as a new player, so I have to default to playing safe." A beginner doesn't know who wins a fight, but can safely assume the beginner is at a disadvantage just by being new so fighting is bad for them. Obviously losing fights is just part of the limit testing necessary for learning, but the initial instinct is always not to. Plus fully teching up theoretically has the added benefit of learning what all the units and upgrades do (which should be reserved for the no opponent games before facing even the bots).

Funny enough, I think noobs to Wc3 don't like upkeep, while veterans/old players really understand it and start to love it. Like you said Grubby, it makes you really think differently about how you're building your army, compared to most games where bigger army = better army. It's an additional layer of complexity, since the macro side of Wc3 is relatively so simple!

I've also not touched the game for nearly 20 years and honestly if I played against players today I'd be lucky to get out the bottom 10%, but at least tells me what I'd need to know if I was to go get my butt kicked by people with many more reps than me !

i think it's easy to overburden ones self as a beginner with all these technical things and all the cool shit everyone else does. there are just a few things i think that would help a beginner in an rts game, don't play online the first thing you do if you have a choice, you want to learn the basics in a low stake environment, against cpu is what i would recommend, that is something i think most gamers are used to anyways because most single player games are like that, and it's there for a reason in pvp games, use it. mess around, lose, do some silly stuff, get aquainted with the mechanics and the cpu is there to basically test you. now the things i think that is important to get down early for your own enjoyment especially in an rts game is hotkeys, making control groups and using hotkeys, you want to be able to walk around with your hero and your units without feeling like training units and creating things in your base is a hindrance to you where you constantly camera pan with your mouse and mouseclick on things to create units etc, so hotkeys allows you to do that, using hotkeys to train units let's you see your squad or your unit still and it goes really fast, being able to just double click on a hotkey can let you jump between looking at your hero to your base and back to your hero again which is such a relief in how little effort it takes to go fix something quickly and be back to your hero. see it like movement in a shooter game, you're always clicking buttons to move around, your hotkeys should be used roughly the same way so hotkeys are that fundamental to the game, it's to allow you to move around and do stuff with your units and keep much of your focus on them because they are the active component to the game, if you're just looking at your base it's basically watching grass grow. as for what you should be aiming to do to orient your gameplay around, it's to kill the enemy as fast as possible, this means as early as you can is to try and beat your opponent, everything else trickles down from that, this means you need to know what they are doing in order for you to know if you can kill them and the only way you will start to learn when you can do this is to attack them as early as possible and from there you will figure out how you can do that and what you need to do to be able to do that, so for example you can push out a hero really fast and just go over there and kill all their workers and win pretty much, but more often than not it won't be that easy and that's when you learn to level up your hero and how to creep which will teach you what you need to do in order to kill creeps by failing and learning and when you've done that you can now try and kill the opponent again because now the basic things that saved the enemy the first time you tried just rushing over there is gonna be less of an issue, so you have more lethality in your ability to destroy someone elses base but they also have more ability to defend their base, so it kinda goes on and on til someone wins. but essentially the longer the game goes the more difficult and tricky the game gets, more units, more upgrades, more abilities etc, that's why attacking early is better because it's like a tree that branches out in possibilities in how they can survive and beat you and you want to leave as little possibilities you can to the enemy. now what makes WC3 special amongst RTS games, it's the army size, it's constantly skirmishing, with typically a rather few units in comparison to most other RTS games, it even tries to hinder you from amassing too many units by having this upkeep mechanic that tries to incentivize you to attack early or keep your army size lower, the other part is the hero obviously but something very special about WC3 is how actually strong the hero is, you will be pretty much shooting yourself in the foot if you choose to play without a hero. TLDR, if you're a beginner play against CPU, learn hotkeys and try to kill the enemy as fast as possible, and when the CPU is too easy play online against others.
