Build a jig on a jackstand to hold those plates. Work smarter. From one welder to another. I totally agree with your layout method. Never trust a base plate to be square. Especially if the son of the boss did the cuts.

Too bad MIG isn't a pre approved electrode for structural per AWS D1.1 You need 7018, dual shield or FCAW 232

I know thanks for your comment I should of explained that I was going to break off in the field they asked me not to weld until they checked if anchor bolts were correct then I went and welded with 232 but thanks for your observation, and I did have to take of base plates because they put anchor bolts in wrong
