Timestamp 17:20 I've noticed if you keep the winch blade down, reel your winch line in to where the trees touch it then lift the blade, the trees act a lot better and steer more like a trailer and they also will go over stumps better as well, since they are lifted off the ground a ways, hope this helps in the future🙌🙌👌👌

I appreciate that. The trees going into the ground and getting stuck was a real struggle. Lifting up the winch would cause some of those specific tress to get stuck in the ground while others had no issues. It's a struggle but we are making it work 🤠

Timestamp 12:45 I've run into this issue quite a bit myself, I just cut off the very end where it meets the ground and sometimes the end piece pops up out of the ground to lay right and sometimes it gets gobbled up by the void, but the rest of the tree is just fine afterwards, so yeah don't waste your time struggle bussin with it, just cut the end and keep on truckin lol

@grimbandango it's unfortunately going go be a while I think. I was able to make this approach I work and I do not think having a slightly bigger tractor than what we would typically start with is cheating considering we are pinching logs for an eternity 😅🤠

when tree gets stuck use super strength to get it out. Thats what I have been doing. Then drag.

Crazy! we both started a similar challenge on the same day, same map, almost the same plot of land (I'm just over the hill on 59)! I'm also doing a survival challenge on the forestry version of the map... but i'm doing it with Mods Only! Great video, looking forward to more!

you dont have to drive the trees all the way into the sell point, just as long as the tree is some what touching the zone of the sell box, regardless it will still sell full price even if the tree is sticking out of the zone

@SkRiLiX interesting. I tested a few things out between that episode and the upcoming and it seemed I got more for smaller cut logs. So I'll have to run a few more tests with the exact same size trees, one cut one not to fully confirm

I started my survival journey on this map yesterday, and I decided to just paint my perimeters so I can easily make out how far I can harvest trees and orientate myself better as well...Just use smallest or second smallest size paintbrush and choose your preferred ground type then paint the perimeters to your property it will seriously help you adjust, orientate and build or work more efficiently and effectively because you can clearly see an edge...

You should get a Logging Trailer, and a front loader. The 6 meter long logs sell for more than any other length.

How do you feel about used equipment flipping? Buy from the used market, repair it, and sell it for a small profit. I fear they messed with repaint, and now sometimes you don't make the money back for it.

hey man just fyi, a trunk is not a stump 😉 you will still need a stump cutter, maybe you sell the tractor and go for one with a little less hp but able to get a front loader on there, a trailer is pretty cheap and it will let you take more wood to the sawmill faster. just a idea, you do you. it's going to be a while anyway till you get rolling properly, but most of us won't mind it😃keep up the good work

Can buy a square bailer for 22k.. can lift those bails by hand and put in a 4k trailer..

Why cant i download this map?! Ive downloaded and added it to my mods folder but it aint showing in game. Now my save gave from the original giants released version is broken

@calebpowell1973 so I'm on console, and I had a hell of a time with it downloading. I ended up having to do a hard restart and update and it downloaded. I did have to wait at the download screen for quite a while. It was not a fast process, lol 😅

I see nothing wrong starting a survival with a good HP tractor cause pulling logs or hills can be frustrating.

@SickSixFarms-lq7ot indeed 🤠. However when I lift the winch, which i do later in the episode, I run into the trees going into the ground and getting stuck again. Damn if you do, damned if you dont. I believe it's only a specific tree type that has this issue

@ZorchFarming honestly I think that map is an issue. I have done plenty of logging on Riverbend and never had the issues you have.

Logging is the last way I'll start a challenge. Just too many issues

It's certainly not the most enjoyable starting with logging, but for survival challenge it really is the best approach to get some funds going 🤠

How did you set this up so you had the equipment and you were at zero dollars?

@Tony_Sheldon so I did start from scratch and gave myself $500,000 from the menu. I took out $100,000 loan. I purchased the two plots of land, the tractor, weight, chanisaw and winch with it. I then spent $1,000 on the log cabin construction and the rest I basically used the soften under sculpting around the construction placeable until I reached $0. 🤠
