Thank you. I grew up thinking that maracas were like toys. I just came back from Barcelona and saw a maraca player in a band that blew me away. The rhythms he could make from them was incredible.

Well, professional.... There are many kind of maracas. You have to find a sound that you like. I made my maracas myself and I don't really like the plastic maracas like the LP, but they are loud and good for salsa bands. I wish you good luck!

I ordered a pair of small ones from Sam Ash.. once I got the rhythm I fell in love! Ordered a pair of large, natural hide Pearls (50% off!) similar to what you're using here... it's only as complicated as you want to make it. I like the way you explain the 'short' sound.. a little tougher with these little ones, but I got it.. had no idea how many different ways you can use them.
