I think it's time to accept the fact that the "SAW GURERRA DONT CARE ABOUT CIVILIAN UWU" rhetoric is not only false, but a severe misunderstanding of the character. I believe that Saw genuinely does care about civilians, and that makes his dedication to doing whatever is necessary to inflict casualties within the Empire, regardless of civilian collateral damage, even more significant. Saw understands that when people fight wars, bad things happen, and limiting yourself and your allies to only being able to fight when you're sure nobody that shouldn't be hurt doesn't get hurt doesn't make any sense, in any context. A character not spending several minutes of screen time brooding about things doesn't mean that they don't care about things. Sometimes, these things are intended to be implicit.

I understand the limitations rebels has with violence. They are running on Disney XD and contrary to clone wars they don’t want to alienate the little kids in their audience by getting carried away with the dark stuff. I mean Cartoon Network literally had to put a pg 13 warning before every episode later into the show. I wish that whatever animated series they make next runs on ABC or Disney’s new streaming service so it’s allowed to go all out.

Violence issues bahh, most kids see things far worse, for example: Dragon Ball, Samurai X, Bleach, Naruto and even watch Teen Wolf series. I never saw anything wrong in Clone Wars that kids couldn't see. When it comes to the movies, they don't care about it and i'm sure they know that kids will watch them. Things can be done with subtlety. Disney does what it pleases them.

You're giving the Death Troopers too much credit, they're like Boba Fett when it comes to competence (and I'm talking about on-screen appearances, not other materials that buffed his skills to his looks).
@mformacaroni15377 жыл бұрын
sadly that's not the case, here is a quote regarding them "Death troopers were elite stormtroopers in the Galactic Empire's military. Stormtrooper candidates who excelled at their training were reassigned to the advanced death trooper camp on Scarif. They were required to exceed traditional stormtrooper standards, including height and weight, and had to meet certain ideological standards. The candidates were also subjected to a battery of physical tests and classified surgical enhancements, making them "beyond human". Additionally, death troopers had to complete more rigorous training than standard stormtroopers, including training in exotic environments. They were mostly assigned to small groups, with each trooper specializing in a specific skill set". So what we are seeing on Rebels is the fully trained and at their peak supposedly.

I also agree with you Alex, rebels are defiantly shying away from death. This is what I've always been disappointed in Of rebels. only problem with that is it gives away the existence of the death star to the rebels. They never knew about it's existence till the destruction of the holy city on Jedha and even then it was still not believed until the battle of Scarif. I think the whole point of that scene was to make Saw appears as a Psychopathic and delusional man to Ezra and Sabine since is pretty much proved it already with his extremist label.
@GAdmThrawn7 жыл бұрын
What I like most about this episode arc was that much like Rogue One, we got to see how different Rebel cells handled themselves and the Empire. There was a clear distinction on how the Partisans and the Rebel Alliance to Restore the Republic believed in what they thought was right, conducted war, and operated. Saw has tunnel vision in his search for the Empire's super weapon and is not willing to deviate from his course and neither does he care about who gets in his way. Unlike Mon Mothma or General Dodonna, he doesn't plan for the long term, and instead wants to destroy the Empire wherever he can find them or at the very most hurt them enough. I do think that there is a bit of inconsistency with him as one time he's willing to blow up a station with dozens of Imperials, next he's stunning and knocking stormtroopers unconscious, and then he's willing to blow up a whole ship with enemies, allies, and civilians alike. There was one moment in his fighting with the Deathtroopers where he was about to kill the commander but then it cut and turns out he only missed (from only a few feet away; does Saw have stormtrooper aim?) While this may indicate his mental instability, I think it has more to do with the writers of the show and their unwillingness to keep Saw a consistent character. Oh for sure, Rebels has no qualms with deaths but unlike TCW, they don't get up in your face about it. It's always in an explosion, a far away blaster shot, falling, or off-screen. They don't bring the camera close to the character's faces either or when they do it's mostly stormtroopers and it's okay because they're faceless. The deaths in this episode have been inconsistent as well. First they're willing to kill people, then they don't, and then they do again. Yeah, where does Sabine keep her paint? ...Does she have lube on her as well? I really hate how they changed the Death Troopers. The voice scrambler is abandoned as is their sensor systems within their helmet and with smoke no less! Hell, even standard stormtrooper helmets are supposed to be equipped with vision enhancements! The show devalued their intimidation and made them less elite, and thereby less of a challenge to the Rebels. I did find the fact that their commander was a woman a surprise as these troopers are physically built to be more masculine. I think that this is the work of the cybernetic enhancements but I'm not sure. It's a shame that she wasn't saved by the explosion. I would've like to have seen her appear more often now that we lost two significant Imperial officers.
@tTaseric7 жыл бұрын
Scientifically it makes no sense that a woman is a deathtrooper since death troopers were meant to be the strongest, tallest, smartest in the ranks (Men are naturally all of these characteristics) But i think it would be cool to see a Death trooper appear more often.

I am disappointed by the Death Troopers in this episode, it has completely diminished their role overall. I'd rather they had stormtrooper's in that role since they acted like the portrayal over every Stormtrooper in rebels. I can only hope that they redeem themselves either later on in rebels or through other expanded material. They can start their path of redemption by executing Ezra first and eliminating some Rebels. Alternatively let's see them actually destroy some of the Ghost crew members except for Hera and Chopper. That way the Death Troopers can be what they were meant to be, Death Troopers.

@mformacaroni15377 жыл бұрын
True the Jedi have the force on their side, though that didn't save them from the clone troopers. Again my issue is that I feel rebels is diminishing the threat of the empire, the only character who is legitimately a threat is Thrawn and his Tie Defenders. Everything else, the star destroyers, the Arquitens cruisers, the stormtroopers, AT-AT's and all the things that represent the might of the Imperial army don't feel like a threat. Another thing is the Death Troopers in this scene felt very weak, when I saw them I thought they were going to be a major threat but when the fighting starts that changes. They didn't fit the bill of being the Elite of the empire with perfect body and ideological mindset, rather just another grunt. I was hoping Rebels would present them as a bigger threat, bigger than how they were in Rogue one. Honestly as a character I find Ezra weak, I feel in comparison to Kanan, Hera and Sabine he doesn't seem like he evolved much. This episode with Saw could have really challenged Ezra more about having good morals and being slow to act over being a radical, getting results but being forever stained. That being said all of this could come from the Finale. The empire's true might, Ezra's downfall (Whether death or corruption) and the stakes, the price of war overall.

I agree. Rebels nerfs the crap out of the Empire. We see stormtroopers decimate the crew of the Tantive IV, only to lose a few of their own. The Death Troopers killed every rebel that was with Chirrut and Baze. Hell, the Empire basically destroyed the rebels on Hoth, forcing them to go into hiding. When I watch this show, I literally don't worry at all about the characters, because I know by now they won't die. Hopefully that changes in the finale.

The thing I liked least about the Death Troopers here is that the one who we get to know a little bit dies with no pomp or circumstance. She was actually winding up to be an interesting character. Thanks as always for your review! I thought the episodes were quite good - although the continued incompetence of the Empire grates a lot. I am hoping Thrawn can take the Rebels down a peg or two next week just to level the scales a bit. Judging from the preview clip, however, combined with bits of the first trailer, the Ghost crew appear to be able to steal a TIE Defender. I really hope that does not happen because it is becoming ridiculous what they manage to get away with. Luke, Han, Leia? Pfff, second rate heroes compared to the Ghost crew. Which is one of my main gripes with this show. It makes the accomplishments of the "original" rebels seem much smaller.

when saw mentioned a civillian cargo ship i was personally hoping that it was just a civillian ship that just happened to have that kyber crystal but they didn't know that, it could have been a way to show the audience how rutleles saw was towards civilians by him possibly attempting torture or even beat them

I think being around the kyber limited the Death Troopers' options to fight. They know its volatile, the rebels dont. Once it was unfrozen she made it a point to leave the room at once.

Remember the rogue one trailer with the death star hidden in shadow? And we see it get revealed? I was expecting it to be in the back ground the whole time shadowed, and after the ghost leaves it gets revealed.

T.J. Corcoran The one thing I didn't like. I knew Titus was a side character whom seldomly appears but I like him being a bumbling idiot.

What kind of ship was it in which Sabine and Ezra and the rest turned up in an Javin in the first episode?

I'm surprised Saw wasn't seriously injured in this. I wonder if we'll see him again; we're clearly moving towards Rogue One, and time wise I'm quite sure we're not far off it. I've had a feeling for a while that Rebels was going to directly show how Saw collected some of his injuries, or at least establish when they were manifest. An aside showing he was starting to struggle breathing due to the exposure to the gas on Geonosis, for example.

Overall better action and storylines. However, as they continue with the lack of serious consequences I fear that we won’t see Ezra and Kanaan dead by the end like they should be.
@tayetrotman7 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. The biggest dumb imperial blunder for me was when that female officer had her light cruiser fly over the crater on Geonosis to stop the Ghost escaping, nobody(not even a small child) would ever put their ship in such a vulnerable position, I could not believe it when that happened, it was so obvious the Ghost would just blast the ship apart from underneath!

The Death Troopers in this episode sound like RvB troopers, especially the commander

The whole idea of Death Troopers is that they are the 00 agents of the Empire. Degrading them to the same level as Stormtroopers is just sad. First, horrible aim in the fog, and being able to speak without the garble? I mean, the whole idea of the garble is so that the Death Troopers can only communicate with each other!

I suppose we have to imagine the rebel base on Yavin 4 more busy than actually shown. It felt so abandoned in the episode.

If the death troopers spoke, it would have been better if they all had Dee Bradley Baker's clone voice. It would make sense if the death troopers were clones of Jango Fett.

I didn't like how they ungarbled the death troopers, but i think i found an in-universe explanation. When the door first opens and we see all the death troopers together, they have garbled voices. But when there is just one trooper left and he has to order around regular stormtroopers, his voice is ungarbled, making me think that he only ungarbled it so that normal troopers could understand him.

The scrambled voices are for death troopers to talk to eachother. If they were to talk to a normal storm trooper (like that one trooper who does) the storm trooper can't understand the death trooper if he scrambles his voice. That's my reason for the unscrambled voice

I think it's important to keep in mind that this is a cartoon for kids. It's not aimed at adult super fans, so Disney is kind of doing us a favor in keeping it interesting for older audiences by tying it so closely to the more adult properties like that movies, books, and comics. In fact, no star wars media is aimed solely at adult super fans because there aren't enough of us to keep the franchise financially solvent. Disney throws us a lot of treats in a show that isn't *for* us. They're also developing a new generation of super fans by giving kids a jumping off point to check out the more mature media later, which is also pretty darn cool.
