Whenever I watch that documentary about the creation of episode 1 I ALWAYS think about the interaction George had with Steven Spielberg in the desert. I think that GL has been heavily involved through DF since the sale on most aspects of what dave has been writing developing along the way. Those close mentor relationships are strong and lasting. GL doesnt have to 'come back' as creative practices are collaborative and can rely on outside chats/guidance . So guidance and checking things on storylines, plot, philosophy, is it correct this character would do X,YZ etc, over just informal chats, hanging out etc

Especially with the "or I walk" attitude. One of the reason the Prequels were flawed was because no one seemed to challenge George at all. He is a great creative mind, but as a director, a part from a few key scenes, he's not that great "do it better" "make it more" isn't clear on what he wants. He has had great actors Portman, Neeson, Lee all be wooden and dull in most of their scenes. There were so many hurdles in make 4 and 5, people to challenge him, including Marcia, while prequels were all 'oh it's gonna be great'

He knew the prequels had some backlash and he knew Disney would mess up star wars even more so, and he decided to become even richer, while watching his prequels become more appreciated due to disney's bad writing and marketing. His stuff would look better in comparison, he'd be richer and then later on, people would call on him to be a consultant or creative supervisor, so it'd be like he'd be in control again, even if he technically doesn't own the property anymore.

I agree, George Lucas returning is a good thing, even if I wasn't the biggest fan of the prequels. Unrelated side note: I must have become pretty adept at picking up on Canadian accents. LOL! Often, such as with this video, I didn't know you were Canadian when I started to watch this video. I had watched one other video from you and didn't pick up on it then, but minutes into this you said the word "out" and I immediately caught that distinct Canadian accent. Heh. Contrary to South Park, "about," "out" and similar sounding words don't come out as "aboot" or "oot", whatever, but there is a notable distinction in the way most Canadians pronounce those words. "Sorry" is another one. So, I noticed it here in the video, then checked you "about me" part of the channel hme page, and it says you are from Canada. Anyway, just something interesting I noted. When he sold the franchise and Disney(Iger) said no to him having any say I feel like it was the thing that made him want to be done with it. A rule that you can't touch it after you've sold it would hurt anyone's enthusiasm. We've since seen him numerous times on set, and he has to be giving guidance even if he's not controlling those projects. They have to know he's there. They probably knew they couldn't keep him out for ever as long as people loyal to him were willing to have him on location. So why not just let him be a supervisor officially if he isn't allowed to be scripting or directly controlling things? It has to be what they're doing to at least generate a buzz. If the corporation wants to get OG fans onboard it's the least they can do if they aren't going to give him control back.

I have thoughts, if he wants back he comes back if they respect who made it in the first place, I used to watch the behind the scenes of George approving different designs crafted for the characters like General Grievous, I just hope they listen if he gives feedback or if he has any creative freedom in anything hopefully they don't restrict him a lot. I would only have two requests from George: 1 - Whether from Bob or Kathleen or whoever it may be, don't take directions from them. Don't accept "tips" from them. George Lucas simply failed to get control over the sequels as part of the contract because Bob had him over a barrel, George knew it, and there was nothing he could do. When R. K. Rowling sold the movie rights to the Harry Potter books to Warner Brothers, she still retained creative control, so your comment that it’s not hit it works is not true.
