When I first saw him in the trailer I laughed because he looks like my dad. He instantly became one of my absolutely favorite characters. I first saw Ray as the villain in Dexter. I knew it was going to be a great performance. RIP. I would love to dive more into his story but I think this is where being adapted in animation becomes key to extend that legacy.

Ray Stevenson was an unexpectedly perfect cast for a dark Jedi. A BIG guy, and a real physical presence and a sense of fairness and nobility. McCann will be a fitting choice. Hes got that same dark air, and can be noble, and he can act. And boy does he EVER carry a strong physical presence. I think he can do it, and he seems to have known Ray too. The character of Baylan Skoll was complex and deep. It needs MORE story. Not less.

Sooner or later, the torch must be passed or be put out. I like to think Disney is learning. I love the idea of Rory McCann "The Hound" being cast as Baylan Skoll The only slight concerns I have are in regards to his look and voice. Ray Sevenson as Bayban Skoll had short white hair in a crew cut and beard and I have some trouble seeing Rory with that look. And Ray Stevenson's way of speaking was very formal and elegant, similar to Count Dooku but not quite as deep. I'm used to hearing Rory with the gruff voice of the Hound. However, good hair and makeup can do wonders, and I haven't seen everything that Rory's been in, so there are probably many depths to his range as an actor that I'm unaware of. In short, I have faith and I'm excited.

I think it would be easy to skip the sequel trilogy timeline with the Mandoverse. TFA, TLJ and TROS were basically happening in a matter of a couple of years. Anything that happens at the end of the Mandoverse can easily skip over and continue after TROS

I think we grew very attached to Ray's depiction because of his sudden death. The character is in the same position as T'Challa from the MCU. Rory McCann could do a great job too, though.
