The Stasi, East Germany's dreaded secret police, had plans to build a luxury wellness hotel close to Lübbesee lake about 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of Berlin.
MfS-Ferienheim Buchheide, codenamed FH150, was to have 180 bedrooms, a swimming pool, sauna, bar, and bowling alley - all for Stasi officers and family members.
But construction was abandoned after the fall of the Berlin Wall and subsequent dissolution of East Germany and all its pillars. The Stasi's unfinished hotel was left to rot.
