Great review!! Does the aluminum frame ride stiff or harsh? Any toe overlap when switching to 700c wheelset? Do you think a Cannondale topstone aluminum in similar spec would be better given that it's from a bigger bike brand? Keep up the vids.

Thanks! I don't particularly feel that the state frame is any more or less harsh than any other alum frame gravel bike I've ridden. That said, I feel like they are all generally somewhat harsh but with the 650b it did feel like a really smooth, fast ride. When I run the 700c I don't experience toe overlap but it is close. That was a problem I encountered a lot on the Poseidon redwood I reviewed.

As for the Cannondale topstone, it's hard for me to say without riding the bike. Looking at the spec it is very similar in a lot of ways. Usually with the big brands I feel like you pay a "name brand tax" but that bike does look like a decent value all in all.

Thanks for the video! What brand cranks are those? They look insanely light. Are they stiff? Any noticeable flex?

I honestly don't even know what they are called. I got them off AliExpress. If you go on there and look for cranks, guarantee you will find them. They were cheap so I figured I'd try them. I only use them for gravel and road but I do tend to believe I feel some flex. It's hard to say. Not changing them out though.

Could you elaborate on the brakes? I’ve seen some worrisome reviews. I’m used to really good hydraulics on my mountain bike. Im worried that it will be a pain to upgrade if they suck

The stock brake system is bad all around. It's not that they are just bad mechanical brakes, but the cables and housing are not the best. I have another gravel bike with quality cables and trp spyre mechanical calipers and the stopping power is about as close as you can get to hydraulic. So that is something to keep in mind if your purchasing this bike. Luckily upgrading mechanical brakes systems aren't the most expensive thing. What tektro calipers did you upgrade to?

I don't know if they even sell them but they are basically the trp spyres. Tektro makes one with their name on it for oem use
