It feels like a nonstop panic attack I need a break from just to breathe. Today our kids and I grieve and miss my husband, who we lost to bipolar disorder, on Father's Day, which is not helping. You are not alone in the struggles. I have had two meltdowns in the last two weeks as well. The tougher our battles the better the rewards. I heard a pastor say once that sometimes God puts His children to bed in the dark, once the test is over you will be better than before. You are an inspiration when I go through it. Thank you for explaining Blaze's mother, Ms. Larue. I grew up the youngest son of a lay preacher in Texas, but I'm old enough, and with the kind of life, that coming out wasn't an option before my parents died over the last 2 decades. I feel like my own mother would have been like your character, but worse. My heart breaks as a middle-aged man that some young adults still have to endure this when they can't yet tolerate the consequences of having it out once and for all with parents.

Great interview with Eva! Grief can destroy you for sure, without you even realizing it. In 2015 lost 4 people close to me, which was traumatic enough; but I have since lost both of my parents in the last 4 years, and sometimes the grief is overwhelming. I've been medicated for Generalized Anxiety Disorder for 13 years. Getting my diagnosis was a blessing. Validation and medication saved my life. Hello Maurice, Thank you for the interview with Eva LaRue. It was such an interesting interview. Maurice I hope that you feel better. My father suffered from mental illness. He was an alcoholic, and a heavy smoker (Philip Morris cigarettes), he died in his sleep on Father’s Day in 1984; he was 57 years old. Take care Maurice. My prayers are with you.

I've been a father for 31 years and this past weekend was literally the first Father's Day where I wasn't consumed with self-loathing and was in a good enough place to truly enjoy, appreciate and accept the love and appreciation I was shown by my kids and my wife. And I don't know if I would have begun this journey to better mental health without your activism and advocacy. I really mean that. You have done so much good for so many, please take comfort in that and take care of yourself. Thank you for this episode of State of Mind, and for all you do both here and on GH. My wife and I watch every evening on my dinner break and it provides me with an hour break from the daily grind and on Sundays I love watching these discussions.
