Looks bloody amazing, and I love that Sucker Punch have been bold enough to change characters and era by a few hundred years. 1603 is the beginning of the Tokugawa shogunate which went right up until the end of Shoguns. So the novel Shogun is set around 1603 (Lord Toranaga is basically Tokugawa) Not only are we blessed with the awesome Shogun tv series this year, we’ll have this game to look forward to as well.
@ErikDayneАй бұрын
Changing characters also explains why you’re not starting out with your skill tree maxed out. If this was a sequel with Jin Sakai it would be odd if you started the game with an empty skill tree.

Japan in 1274 (Mongol invasion) compared to 1603 (start of the Edo period) are wildly different moments in Japanese history. Super excited to see what they do with the overall bold shift in setting and time period.

Firstly Mount Yotei resembles Mount Fuji, this is a detail not many people know, and horses started appear in Japan after Mongolian arrive. Using Black n white scene is clearly a tribute to old (Akira Kurosawa) samurai movie, They even a SAMISEN music as contrast to the RAP they put in the new AC For a Western developer not from Japan, all these details shows that they put effort in their research, and I appreaciate that

I follow a KZbinr named Tmartn2 who does gameplay walkthroughs, he was how I was introduced to Ghost of Tsushima. I actually didn’t know Louise was a fan of this because I started following her channel with the Mandalorian so I’m super excited to see that she likes this too. I’ve never actually played the game as I’m an Xbox kinda guy and this is a PS exclusive but MAN this story is epic and emotional. If this sequel game does as well as we all expect it too I would LOVE to see a Ghost of Tsushima movie one day. Heck make it as a Lord of the Rings style movie trilogy, if it’s made by people who love the source material that would absolutely SLAP.

Ghost of Yoteï The protagonist's name is Atsu. He reveals that Atsu's journey takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Our story takes place in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, a region of Japan known today as Hokkaido. By 1603, this region was outside of Japan's rule and filled with sprawling grasslands, snow-covered tundras, and unexpected dangers. This is a far cry from the organized samurai clans that lived in Tsushima

@JayEmersonthemanАй бұрын
@@Big4ofThrashexactly. Pretty sure they’d do SOME tie in but if sucker punch is smart.. they won’t do a distant relative like that to force it. I would prefer they do something along the line of including Jin as a LEGEND in one of the legend quests or have a quest in which someone briefly mentions the tale of a GHOST on the island of Tsushima that helped rid of it of mongols 300 years ago. That would make it hype enough to know he’s lore without tying it in too much for fake glory points.
@JayEmersonthemanАй бұрын
By “fake glory” I don’t mean I wouldn’t like the game if they made her a relative cause I’m sure they’d write it well BUT I just don’t see myself caring too much when it’s 300 years apart so Jin would be at least a good 8-10 generations removed especially during this time period (20-30 years being a good number to estimate between gens back then with life spans being around 60 average for the oldest in those two time periods).
@ErikDayneАй бұрын
(Potential spoilers for anyone who has not played Ghost of Tsushima) Hey Louise 👋🏼 This just gave me an idea and I wanted to see what you think about it. On a scale of 1-100, how much would you like to see a Ghost of Tsushima movie trilogy? I’m thinking if it’s made by people who love the source material, that could be Lord of the Rings levels of epic, with intense action sequences, emotional character beats, set in this massive world. I’m thinking of the LotR battle of Helms Deep night battle except it’s that time when Jin invaded that castle at night before Lord Shimura could attack the next day. I’m thinking of the final fight between Jin and Lord Shimura and it reminds me of the Luke vs Darth Vader fight from Return of the Jedi. I’m thinking of Jin’s friends like Yuna, her brother, and the crazy guy that sold Saki to the Mongols, and it reminds me of Luke Han and Leia. And then the part where Ryuzo betrays Jin! The final battle against the Mongols where the camera pans out and you see that Lord Shimura actually did show up with his army to assist the “Ghost of Tsushima”, because even though they have their differences, Lord Shimura still knows in his heart that the “Ghost” is still his nephew that lost both his parents and he only wants to protect the people of Tsushima from suffering the same fate. And that reminds me of the battle of Helms Deep when it seemed like all hope was lost, but Aragorn and Theoden rode out anyway only to find Gandalf and Eomer and the Rohirrim waiting on the hill to save the day. Second question, how do I already know that on a scale of 1-100, we will both agree this would be a 101 😂 I can only speak for myself but the Ghost of Tsushima tattoo leads me to believe you will concur 😂
@seniorordenanza2387Ай бұрын
Aight excuse me while I go play Ghost of Tsushima again. Also fun little fact, looking at the year this game is set and the time Ghost of Tsushima is set, it seems about 300-400 years has passed. So unfortunately our boy Jin has long passed but I would not be surprised if he’s either a legend or even a legacy type of mission where we get something that belonged to him like his armor. Wonder if he eventually settled down with Yuna?

@erikdayne5429 it's set similar to 'Shogun' which is 1700s japan and also similar to 'blue eyed samurai', plenty of opportunities in that period and suckerpunch have already stated they wanted a fresh slate for a new character.
