Europe has never experienced such a long period of peace and prosperity as after the Second World War. When the Iron Curtain falls in 1989, the dream of a united Europe, in peace and freedom, seemed to finally become reality. But recently the European euphoria has disappeared and nationalists are on the rise again. "Brexit" is only the beginning.

The banana myth continues! 40:22 Bananas have always been classified by quality and size for international trade. Because the standards, set by individual governments and the industry, were confusing, the European Commission was asked to draw up new rules. Commission regulation 2257/94 decreed that bananas in general should be “free from malformation or abnormal curvature”. Those sold as “extra class” must be perfect, “class 1” can have “slight defects of shape” and “class 2” can have full-scale “defects of shape”. Nothing is banned under the regulation, which sets grading rules requested by industry to make sure importers - including UK wholesalers and supermarkets - know exactly what they will be getting when they order a box of bananas.

Thanks for this informative documentary. I have a few comments: Being part of the EU means losing national identity, language, culture, unique Christian beliefs (EU is secular) and way of life, which as shown in the documentary, has taken thousands of years to develop and evolve. More importantly, competition between European nations has been lost, which has resulted in poorer EU nations being supported by the wealthy nations. This downgrades the potential of the individuals from the poor states (demotivates the individuals), since the national aim is lost and as a result they become dependent on wealthy EU members for generations to come. In addition, the EU has benefitted wealthy members by selling their products in the larger market within the EU community. Also, illegal immigration is difficult to manage within EU as a whole, as the poor member states must take a huge number of refugees by force. Moreover, the traditional relation between the EU member countries with countries outside of the EU has become meaningless because of the rules and restrictions created by the EU. Furthermore, EU with all its institutions and power which was created (after WWII) and aimed to prevent war and not to get engaged into a war, failed to find a solution to resolve the problem between Russia and Ukraine and as a result they are indirectly drawn into a war. Finally, if this war continues and spreads (not stopped), it may result in a nuclear war which will bring disaster to the European continent. We need to wait and see whether the formation of the EU after two disastrous European wars, has genuinely helped to prevent further disasters.

None of your arguments make the EU useless nor make "independent nationalism state" idea better...Agree that the EU shall tackle with all the problems you mentioned but the creation of the EU is the cause of those problems

What a lot of nonsense. The war in Ukraine isnt the fault of the EU. Actually, Putin would love to see the EU dismantled and divided. To defend Europe the EU needs to be even more united and speak with one voice on the global stage.

"For 700 years muslims ruled the iberian penninsula" is false. Only Granada was ruled for that long. Most of the iberian penninsula was ruled for less. The north never was, the mid-north for over 50-100 years, the middle for 200-300, the mid-south 500 years (Navas the tolosa battle was in 1212) and Granada 700-800 years (which was caputed in 1492).

1: A 4th power to be addressed, fiscal power in the hands of individuals seems prudent, rather than a few representatives in the legislative, executive and judicial branches (likely fewer wars of incredible expense, if the few war hawks need to raise funds from the people rather than easily printing out and inflating from the treasury); 2: Celtic and Swiss direct democracy may be better than representative; 3: Technologies and secular knowledge in today's modern world enable individual and direct monetary and voting control, rather than old world ideologies and capabilities.

Quite informative series although a little bit hindsight-applying. But that is inevitable. Fair enough. However, this last episode engaged already way too much in spewing the mainstream propaganda and empty clichés about democracy, solidarity, diversity, bla, bla, bla, all that. I perceived it to be so obvious that it even lead me to asking this question: ''Who financed the production of it?'' (No need to answer. With the sixth episode it became very apparent that it was the globalist kleptocrats from Brussels.) In my opinion, the series should have concluded after the fifth episode. Plus the propagandistic aim would have remained more (even if not completely) hidden. Goebbels once said: ''The most effective propaganda is the propaganda where nobody knows that it is propaganda. Propaganda must not be observable. Propaganda must be aimed at the subconscious.'' I was observing propaganda throughout the series. With the fifth episode it was becoming a little bit too obvious and this sixth episode already seemed like an advertisement TV spot (albeit extended into 50 minutes in length).

This last video made me a little sad...Me living in Romania i can see all this propaganda for the west. You didn't even mentioned about the fall of communism in december 1989 in Romania, but you talked about other events from that year. You glorified so much the west and glorified Ucrain so many times(if this "war" didn't existed, did you even mentioned Ucrain? I don"t think so). It's such a huge gap between western europe and eastern europe. The people from west don't really understand yhe balkan countries and i think this last video was a great way to talk more about them. I think the west would see us different. Maybe after a non european is watching this video will say "what a big happy family!" No it's not,and we will never be! This positivity that you see in this video is not true. We still have our argumesnts and will always have them.

As a non-European, the EU is like a blind date, romantic dramas with each other, sweet talk, and relationships. But later things get old, and they lose interest in each other but self-interest. The truth color appears, and time to get a divorce. The European culture is individual, corrupt, and selfish. Materialistic, arrogant, and prejudiced, with this norm and attitute is difficult for solidarity union. It is first humanity and compassion. Politicians and lawmakers never understand.
