And in the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends! I keep recalling this every other day i see this. Freedom is coming tomorrow........

Government MUST respect rights of its citizens, otherwise at this rate, What has happen to senior citizen Besigye in the open, is an indicator that these abuses have been taking place without being seen and will likely continue to happen.

The Law was created for a reason...once tunisia and egypt took it to the streets, so did Besigye...... even if he is the opposition leader, he should learn to follow rules, not just break rules because you are the opposition leader. He claims he is fighting for the people but the truth is he wants to get into power so badly.....i wonder wat will happen once he gets there

@Uganda2day Stop insulting ordinary citizens of Uganda, who ARE NOT power-gluttons and who ARE NOT promoting social disorder. As long as ordinary citizens are LAW-ABIDING, they are less likely to be RIGHTLY persecuted by those who are OBLIGATED to maintain Law & Order in the society!

......CONTINUED Had this law taken hold, Museveni wouldn't have been eligible to run in 2011. He'd be retired just like other dictators like Kamuzu Banda, Daniel Toroitich e.t.c. What I don't understand is this, why did parliament vote this law down? What if they had refused to vote it down and just let it remain as the law of the land? Judging from the way things are going, Museveni is basically a life president. He'll only leave State House when he is dead. Until then, more craziness.

@nirbija, WHat should Africa do then. If we don't need to set term limits on presidential tenures because it is something given to us by the 'pale devil', what should we do? You know very well that it is very hard for an African head of state to lose an election. It almost never happens. Aren't people entitled to alternative leadership? What then should we do?

Kenlav44 u need to put on your thinking hat...this guys does not cause chaos. Govt give him audience by arresting him in such a manner yet they are not aware they are increasing his popularity and creating more sympathy. Ugandans are always slow to react but the bubble will soon burst and all we should pray for is we do not descend into chaos because so many factions in the nation are bitter
@SonNative13 жыл бұрын
Could a Ugandan just explain this to me because I don't get it. Sometime between 2000 and 2005 or thereabout, Uganda's parliament passed a law that sets a limit on the term that a president should serve to two five years just like in Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, South Africa, my own Kenya e.t.c. Then, before the 2006 elections, either through manipulation, threats, bribery or all of the above, Museveni impressed upon parliament to delete this law. ......CONTINUED
