@joyusachoobarb3 жыл бұрын
@@MrPolGonzalez it's modular synthesis. Look it up
@bricelory95343 жыл бұрын
@@MrPolGonzalez being modular synthesis, there are different modules (sort of a synth equivalent to a guitar pedal) that either generate waves to create sound or are used to modify those sound waves - either through telling when to start or stop the sound, change the nature of it's sound, and so on. One of the features of a big system like this is that you can have various stages in the whole process be randomized (either totally or in a range you specify), so it generates the changes on its own. If you're familiar with the idea of procedural generation in video games, it is a lot like that but for sound. So the human involvement was setting up the parameters and controls, having each device affect others in specific ways and once it has been set up, it will continue to generate sound based on those settings until a human comes in and either shuts it down or changes the settings. In this video, no one is pressing a key or thing like that to make the notes. It's all been programmed, basically, and he is letting the program run for the full video.

On the 1st of January, fireworks scared my dog off. We got a call from the local shelter two days later saying they'd picked him up that very same day but just didn't have the time to check his microchip and call us. When we got him back, he just wasn't the same. He spent the following weeks deteriorating, not eating, lethargic. He was so energetic just one month ago. I took him to the veterinarian two days ago because that's the earliest I could get an appointment anywhere. They found cancer everywhere. I don't know how he maintained so much energy but I know that I'm grateful for the 13 years I got to spend with him. I don't think I'll ever be the same without him, and that's a good thing. Even now without him, I continue learning lessons in life, love, and what it means to be healthy and happy. This session reminds me the sunrise that day and how excited he was to eat some new food I'd gotten him, while he wore the new neon vest I'd gotten him. I'm still teary-eyed but now have a smile on my face. Thank you.

But it's absolutely in the realm of reality to assume that machines can have something you could call feelings or conciousnes as an emerget property. I'm not claiming that his synths have feelings. This is beautiful. Almost an awareness to it all even though you know there isn't. I know this has been explained before by some industry professionals on a documentary or something, but even from this video you can start to feel it speak.

This is perfect. I Listen to this in the studio to warm me up and get me inspired. I’ll play a guitar (less notes the better) through the pedal board and jam over it (Big sky involved) It puts me in the right headspace , vibe. It’s like having a drink before djing at a party It gets you in the mood. Thank you sir. Snow drift is another one ☝️

This is beautiful on so many levels. It’s also precisely why I am unable to find peace “making original” music in the modern era. Is my input valid when you can set a minimal amount of voices with minimal programming and come away with something as visceral and inquisitive sounding as the blade runner soundtrack? Funny, too, now that I consider the themes of the movie itself. Thanks for this!
@KOSMIKFEADRECORDS3 жыл бұрын
Cool but is synth music the only music that matters? how to get modules to bring acoustic sounds in? sampling? is non spacey drifty patches even possible? grooves and performances are still important things to try and perfect.. just escape all genres and textures and hand yourself over to notes and rythms... what we are hearing is missing alot of awesome musical cues.... so by no means is this "complete"..... unless all you wanted to make was something sleepy or relaxing.. then it IS COMPLETE

You aren't giving enough credit to the state of mind you attain while you're creating your music :) No matter how good AI becomes at composing, you'll only ever experience the end product of that process, unless you do it yourself.

Since I discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago I have created a playlist with about 8 of your longest videos and I've been falling asleep to it with it playing all night 💙 I've done this with loads of vids in the past but yours are easily the best I've found. I love how there's so much going on and it changes so much over time but you hardly notice. I find a lot of other ambient vids are just the same over and over for hours. Yours are a journey. I'd love to spend a day and night with u and ur equipment to see and understand how the magic works. Sorry for rambling on. Lol. But thanks so much for your videos. I love them.

I have absolutely no idea what’s going on here, or how this was all set up, but it’s absolutely incredible. I’ve never heard something that transports me to another place as much as this does. I think ambience of it, and assurance that the soundscape isn’t going to rapidly change like a song does makes it so immersive, really feels like I’m in some alternate world where this plays constantly

I have a supremely hard time staying on task when plowing through mundane math problems for college. My mind constantly wants to jump to anything else and I find myself procrastinating. It can be exasperating to see yourself waste time that you could be using to study. I find this music solves that for me as it helps clear my mind of distractions and focus on the work at hand. Overall has helped me greatly in my studies and i will most definitely be checking out your other work.

I have no idea how this all works but it’s absolutely amazing, looks like something straight out of an 80s sci fi flick. Always wanted to get into modular synths but all those cables look so overwhelming for someone who has only used plug ins.
@elliotr90953 жыл бұрын
The cables are just routing. It’s all the same concepts as plugins, just replace LFO with “control voltage” where a lot of things can become LFOs/audio-rate modulation oscillators (“fast LFOs”). No presets, but... you can take a picture/make labels lol. And very, very expensive. I am sure this setup was well over $10,000. With modular, part of what you’re paying for is the workflow/experience of using it, and the freedom of routing. But you can do everything you’ve heard here with softsynths.
@stateazure3 жыл бұрын
If I had bought this system altogether just like this, three years later I still don't think I'd understand how to patch it. I started with just a few modules, much easier to learn and understand how it works that way.
@ENIGM233 жыл бұрын
@@stateazure Maybe because that not the point. Music isn't only about tech stuff. The fondamentals of synthesis is important of course but don't try to understand everything right from the start. Sometimes you just need ears... Maybe you guys should give it a try and download voltage cable modular from cherry audio i learned a lot off workflow elements on this plugin... And it free
