id throw in Chuck Leavell, Kenny Arnoff, Jack Pearson, Don Was, Audley Freed, and Jimmy Hall pretty nice band to have behind Gregg. People sleep on Jack Pearson. I was lucky to see him a number of times with the ABB and with Gregg on solo things. But also awesome to see the song come back full circle to Taj. Though you cant forget Jesse Ed Davis. We prob wouldnt have had Duane the slide player without his inspiration.

Been a Taj Mahal fan since I was 13 years old. He came out on stage with a stool and a banjo and started off by himself with Fishing Blues. Then the curtains came open and there was a full on band, horn section with Howard Johnson. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. When that horn section opened up it was on. Still love the man at 66.

The Allman Brothers Band live at The Fillmore East is the best and finest of the band. I bought the album when It was released in 1970-1971. The rendition of the indomitable composition is among others without compare. It fires off as depicted on the album cover of a symbolic locomotive. And it was the last any of the Allman Brothers album except for when Duane Allmans guest appearance on Derek and The Dominoes. When Duane passed, so did any interest in the Allman Brothers Band. Para te 'ika o Tangaroa. ...fish.

Cajun blues? Taj grew up in Harlem and later in Springfield, MA. His father was an Afro Caribbean jazz arranger and piano player. Taj created the first modern arrangement of Statesboro Blues which inspired Duane Allman to take up slide. Won’t say he’s never played Cajun music, but he is a master of fusing blues and other genres.
