Thank you so much! This video helped me understand the entirety of the equilibrium unit in my physics class. I missed the basics and never grasped the concepts until now.

So, there is no normal force from the object mom?
@arimardansingh21863 жыл бұрын
Thanks mam

why isn't there a normal force on from the mass on the seesaw?
@DrJennCash4 жыл бұрын
You are technically correct. There is a normal force every point that a solid object is in contact with another solid object. The force of "the pivot holding up the board" at the center is actually a normal force (I drew in that force but didn't specifically call it a normal force). The force on the board due to each of the masses is actually a normal force. For the two block-masses, they each have gravity down and normal force up, holding them in equilibrium. The magnitude of those normal forces is equal to their weight. The board actually has the normal force down due to each block pressing on it. Since those forces are equal to the weights, it is calculated the same as using the weight directly on the board, but it is not technically the actual gravity force.

A 1000 kg overhead bridge passing over a big canal is hanged by two 13 m long ropes as shown in the figure. Apply the knowledge of statics to determine the maximum number of people which can be allowed to pass the bridge at a time. Assume the average mass of a person to be 60 kg and the mass of all people to act at 50 m left from center of gravity G.
