How about making factory test ports on your equipment?
@jeffshore6824 жыл бұрын
Ok, I have a few problems- first, it doesn't look like the instrument was set to zero before taking the reading? Also what I have learned is that you have to add both readings together and disregard the + or - signs in order to measure the total static pressure.
@45KevinG452 жыл бұрын
Wouldnt the kink in that hose ontop of the manometer affect the reading?
@kwacz15 күн бұрын
i have a manometer reading measuring the pressure drop across my furnace filter. At what reading should the filter be changed? The theory is if I run the filter until it gets to this magic number than replace it I am not replacing too soon or too late.
@golgo113812 күн бұрын
that depends, is this for commercial or residential, do you have pets, do you have allergies, etc. for a home its not unheard of to change your filters monthly, bi-weekly if you have pets. changing filters is probably the cheapest maintenance you could do to extend the life of your unit. so do it often.
@kwacz11 күн бұрын
@golgo1138 the filter has been in there for the last 4 months. It looks relatively clean still with just a very small amount of dust on it but barely visible. I know that manometers are more for commercial use but I just wanted to try to change the filter based on its reading and not time since obviously the time can vary depending on the time of year as well.

Have you come across static pressure causing the ECM motor to I have wind up noises or cause vibrations on High cooling setting?

Thanks for the video it was very educational and helpful. I have a Carrier 58mca-060-16110 furnace with air conditioning installed in a small room at the center of the house with grates in all the walls to the surrounding rooms(house is on a slab and doesn't have return ducting). The filter is mounted on the side of the furnace(one side exposed to the room) and sucks the air directly from the room.I have a digital manometer and want to check pressures on the furnace. I have a few questions if you don't mind. 1. Does the one probe need to be held in front of the filter or just anywhere near the furnace. Or is it needed at all, at least for the filter drop. 2. Does the probe inserted above the heat exchanger and below the evaporator coil need to be anywhere specific in the space. My coil is offset to the left side directly over the heat exchanger (no room to insert it) but there is a lot of open space to the right of it that's probably not directly in the airflow. Thanks

It was hard to tell exactly where the probes were placed in relation to the evaporator & air filter. Was the probe after the air flows through the evaporator or before it? After the return air enters enters the air filter or before the return air passes through the air filter?
@golgo113812 күн бұрын
in a commercial package unit total external static pressure is measured in the return before the filter, and in the supply after the blower

The air filter in my AH is at the very bottom of the AH so it’s impossible to not go outside the box when measuring static pressure

No, I believe your total static pressure is around .5 From what Fieldpiece says about this manometer, the top number is the difference between atmosphere and each port and the bottom is the total.
@shifter82072 жыл бұрын
The bottom is the difference and the top is p1 or p2 reading depending on which one is selected
@Faruk6512 жыл бұрын
No, it's not. You can see the minus sign bottom number. That can't be the total.
@richcohen83412 жыл бұрын
@@Faruk651 you disregard the minus. This particular duel port manometer reads supply and return at the same time. If you had a single port, you'd take supply, return and add them disregarding the sign for total static pressure.

It seems to me that what one is trying to measure is the pressure drop across the blower as this is an indicator for how hard the blower is working to move air.. So rather than saying where the probes should not be placed, might it be easier to just say where they should be placed? I.e., one on each side of the blower. Thanks!
@golgo113812 күн бұрын
every component of your unit is an airflow restrictor. Filters, evap coil, heat exchanger. you must measure before the filter and after the heat exchanger
@RealFuzzyPickLE530 Жыл бұрын
Ive seen multiple seminars that touch on the topic of SP, qnd according to industry experts, this is wrong. It does need to be on the other side of the coil, as we are not measuring box static pressure, we are measuring system static. Also, having the probes, especially on the positive side, that close to the blower is going to give you inaccurate readings. We are supposed to have in the neighborhood of 2-5 ft of smoth flowing air to get a fully accurate reading. This is a fairly poor video, Lennox.

I am not an hvac guy and I know you are supposed add those two together to get the total external static pressure. This guy must be very dumb.
@Faruk6512 жыл бұрын
Looks like the system is running around 0.7wc which is higher than 0.5wc, so it is not running in optimal settings. 0.1-08 is ok with the new furnaces as long as the equipment is not undersized. Again I am not an hvac guy but know some basics, probably better than this noob.
@TerryRGraham2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say he is dumb. I'm not sure if he just misspoke on the numbers or if he doesn't understand how it works. You'd think they would correct it though.

The top number is the combined system pressure. The Bottom number is the P2 (look at the arrow on the screen). To get the P1 you have to hit the P1/P2 button (Upper left)

I have a lot of issues with this video. We know where you put the positive and negative pressure tubes on which side. Oh wait.... And the tube on your test instrument is kinked. But, I really struggled with having that style of flexible connector on your lab equipt. Get the stuff that meet codes or have your students install B.I. Mostly useful video, but I won't be showing it to my students.
