Can we take a moment to appreciate the respect Zero is showing to Wayne? He is never the focus of the video, just like a shadow in the background. The amount of respect in doing that says a lot about his character as a person. Does his part to keep Wayne's memory going, without being in the "spot light" so to speak

I have been a Static-x fan since 2001 when I was 16 when my aunt's boyfriend gave me his burned static-x cd's that he had. I had never even heard of them before then. But as soon as I put that first cd in and listened to that first song, I was in love. And now 22 years later after my first introduction to them and then unfortunately Wayne's death, I am still listening to them as if I've never heard this before. This song for some reason is really hitting me hard. I would love to see this played live. I was lucky enough to meet the band and see them play live when was about 21 (I'm now 37) when I was in Denver, CO. I remember when I met them and Tony was the first person I came across during the signing of the autographs they were doing before the show. And me being my crazy "out there" self with my weird personality, I said to Tony, "Dude! Long time no see man!" And he played along and said," I know right?! It's been forever!" Even though he's never seen me before in his life. Lol. And then I saw Wayne. 🤯 and I had made a joke about going into the moshpit. And the drummer told me I probably shouldn't cuz I'd probably get my nose broken cuz he said it gets pretty crazy out there. But all I could think of was how angry Wayne looked and how I needed to make him smile. Because that's just what I do. I try bring joy to everyone. And I mean "everyone". And sure enough I made him smile. So, just to think that I was able to put a smile on his face before his body left this world.....well, d@#n that's a huge accomplishment to me.

I think this is some of THE BEST lyrics Wayne has ever written. I watched the video before reading your post which gave some extra background as to what the song was about. The video is so heartwarming, by the way. But I also wanted to share my interpretation as a long time X fan. To me, the song is sort of tragic, but and honest look into the type of creator that Wayne was. The first and second verse, to me, is about how Wayne's obsession with "chasing his muse" and making music corrupted certain relationships that he may have had. They tell the story of how deep into this he was. Wayne wasn't an enthusiast or hobbyist; he was MEANT to make music; IT called out to HIM (twisted music pounding my head paints the picture of music that just won't stop flowing and interrupting his other thoughts). He remembers times of innocence and simpler times, that he'd possibly take back, but then counters that by saying "I'll destroy you", showing how powerful this need to make music is. So then the chorus kicks in with the hellish imagery he sees, the feeling that many things have been lost, but in the final verse he is still in his room alone, face to face with his own chaos/genius. And in the second verse he's honest with himself that maybe the music got in the way of other things (don't you hate me? I know that I would) but in the end, that's just who he is. I think this is so amazing and relatable to read from another artists'/songwriters' perspective, because I know for a fact that sometimes these songs that I "write" just really present themselves at the most inopportune times, they just write themselves, and I've gotta stop what I'm doing so that I can chase this muse because it's what I felt like I was meant to do. I may be way off with this interpretation, but it's of my opinion that great lyrics really lead to big discussions like these, make you think, and are viewed differently through different lenses. Wayne is an artist, through and through. Sometimes he may have viewed that as a bit of a curse (which I'm sure some do from time to time, it's natural) but one thing is for sure; his impact will not be forgotten. Thank you guys so much for unearthing these tunes. I'm sincerely moved as a long time Static-X fan. 🔥

I remember hearing Static-X when I was 14 (34 now) when Machine came out. Black and White was my first song I had ever heard by them. I instantly became a fan after that. Like a friend of mine said to me when he heard I liked Static-X I remember him saying "You've entered the Shadow Zone." When I was able to drive the first albums that went into my CD player were; WDT, Machine, Some Stabbing Westward, and other bands. Mainly played Static-X and Alice in Chains. I was at work when I heard Wayne passed away and the manager I was helping set up the store with was upset, like I was about the news. So, he took his phone and played WDT, Machine, Shadow Zone over the P.A. We even played some of their songs when customers were in the store. Both of us didn't care, was trying to honor an awesome singer, leader, and artist in a small way. I am glad to see them come back with these tracks, though it makes most of us miss Wayne even more but, this helps carry on Evil Disco for a long time. As a side note..if they made a game Evil Disco, I bet I won't be to only one that would play the shit out of it.

I'd like to think so.. though Wayne and Tony had a massive falling out in the last years before Wayne died.. it's one of the reasons Wayne went solo.. Wayne talks about it in a few interviews, it was a pretty bitter fight.. so there's part of me that thinks Wayne might also hate them profiting off of his vocals and image.. We'll never know.. but I am aware Wayne's family approved. Wayne's wife Tera Wray intended on releasing his stuff posthumously herself but she was so emotionally devastated by his loss that she ended up taking her own life in the same fashion Wayne died.. only hers was intentional and Wayne's was accidental. But yeah if you haven't .. look up some of Wayne's interviews .. he's talked about what happened with him and Tony in several of them... If I remember right, Tony wouldn't let Wayne use Static-X unless he paid a major amount of money and he couldn't get them to work together .. it was really bitter between them.. so he went with just using "Wayne Static" on his album Pighammer.. his one and only solo album.. And yes he did tour as Static-X with a different band, but like I said.. he had to pay a fortune to Tony because Tony was co-founder of the band.. Wayne was really upset about it. But yeah that's why I can't say I believe Wayne would be proud of this.. but I still really like what has come from it, it sounds great.. very haunting..

Lonnie W It is tough but I think had he lived and had they obviously resolved differences he would of been cool with this. And that’s probably the sad part in this tribute thing, Tony never got to make peace with Wayne and Wayne never got to make peace with Tony and probably reunite for another tour. I’m glad that the family approve of the band and Xero tho.

@Danny Dircio Its one of those things like, Wayne with a new band was never Static X, and Static X with out Wayne is not Static X. BUT If Wayne is no longer here, Static X, the remaining Band is Static X by default. That volume 2 will fill the void and Zero sounds just like him.

Indeed, they show so much respect to their fallen comrade. Xer0 purposefully makes sure he isn't front and center, which is a sign of true humilty if there ever was one. Plus, they made sure to seek the blessings of the Wells family before reforming. A true labor of love if there ever was one.

@J.T. Melanson I was meant to see the new Static-X live but didn't due to a mix-up and I'm still angry at myself for it like a year later. I hope they play in my country again soon. As I was so angry I have only now been able to check this new material out. I look forward to hearing the rest. Based on what I've heard I will buy the album if I see it and definitely try watch them live. There is a show from the tour I missed on KZbin that I will watch when I can be sure being mad at missing it in person won't ruin it for me.

I still can't believe he has passed...just so much talent, so much greatness, and it's all gone. No doubt many great albums have lost the chance to grace our ears . Just like Bon Scott from ACDC, no one will ever replace Wayne and his iconic voice but I am eager to hear Xero's take on static x. He may have passed but this song carries on his legacy. Also, its great to see Koichi Fukuda rocking again. His playstyle (movements and sounds) have made him on of my favorite musicians of alltime.

And we are going to get two of them.. it's great .. I never expected to hear these songs since Tera took her own life, she had said she intended to get help in finishing his work and was planning to release it for the fans when she did.. but she couldn't handle the loss of Wayne.. when her life ended, I thought that closed the chapter on the music since Wayne and Tony had a very bitter falling out, they were not friends anymore and Wayne went solo.. so I'm not entirely sure Wayne would be thrilled about this.. but I'll take it .. I love the band, I love what they are doing with it.. but Static-X will never be the same again once these two albums are finished.. I think when that happens.. they should let Wayne rest in peace and close the book on Static-X .. maybe get zer0 in there for an annual reunion tour or something, but I wouldn't want them creating new music as Static-X .. or continue using his image in new material that Wayne had no part in creating.. at that point it would seem like are just milking his memory dry and that seems pretty disrespectful.
@lapsisvox4 жыл бұрын
Lonnie W That would be a great idea. But I’m sure after doing all this touring and after they release Project Regeneration Vol. 2, Tony will resume Fear Factory. But I would agree with you, I’ll take what I can get out of Static-X. They’ve always been one of my top 5 favorite bands and a huge inspiration in my music.
@wrxhex4 жыл бұрын
Lonnie W While I agree with everything, yeah Tony and him were having a bitter moment back then, BUT these songs with his old recordings seem more of a tribute to Wayne. People grow and change. But I do agree after this they should stop or at least make music under a different name if they do, cause at that point I think it's just milking the name like Hollywood does with movies etc.

Kind of prophetic given the extensive drug usage that took a toll on his heart and eventually cost him his life after his overdose.
@DesertRainReads2 жыл бұрын
@@ChachaChapati indeed, it's quite chilling how prophetic this song is. Like he knew his addictions to prescription drugs and alcohol would lead him down the wrong Path. It was sadly because of his addictions that the band broke up in the first place. Had he not passed, I have zero doubt he and Tony would've made amends and resumed things right where they left off. Truly a shame, he was a brilliant musician who could belt it out and whose lyrics really touched the core. His legacy lives on though, he will not be forgotten, they are making sure of this. I am glad the band has reformed, brought these recovered recordings to the light and continues to put on great shows for us to enjoy.
