It's been smoky here in Las Vegas too. Good luck to the fire fighters.

its cool how you can see the condensation level sitting right above the fire. the warm air is pushing the other air up and its condensing making the other clouds close to the right

Reasonable explanation. I do live in another part of the country. My thought is though these reporters act like it every fire has always been called a "station fire"

starting at 0:28 did something blow up ? look at the smoke and yeah California forest fires are big. Even here in small country like Latvia ( other side of the world - in EU ) I saw this in news.

I know this is a bad thing but I look at the bright side of this situation. Because of the smoke I'm getting a bunch of days off school and the sky looks beautiful.

yup, and as we fight fires to save homes we fuel even larger fires to start. the lack of fires results in overcrowded brush, such as the fire seen in this video. the winds are calm but because of the high amounts of fuel, the fire burst out of control.

how did california survive before firefighters were here? Anyways, thank God I live in Cerritos, CA. I can see smoke in the distance and the sun is orange sometimes, but not too bad like last year. Best wishes to those who are affected strongly by the fires

no, it's considered hazardous with the ashes, smoke and all. =P ADVICE TO PEOPLE WHO LIVE CLOSE TO THAT AREA: >Get your hose and spray water all over your plants. (not too much, though. you don't wanna kill them!) >Exercise INDOORS. Avoid any heavy activity outdoors; you don't wanna breathe in too much ash and smoke D: >if any of you can think of any other suggestions, please reply to this comment! :D

Its called a Pyrocumulus cloud ... DUH.. it could either drop rain and put out the fire that created it in the first place, or it can create thunderstorms and create more potential fires

"given the wealth and resources of this state, ". No disrespect hiodr; however, I often hear that California is bankrupt and cashless. Of course, how can this be? Hollywood, cutting edge science projects etc. As an outsider, I often imagine Californians as living in ET, the film, style homes or living by the sea.

Instead of the billions of dollars used to help Iraq (who could use that money against us in the future like others have in the past) we could have used those billions & the military to fix this immediately.
