haha, slowing it down is easy... starting it on a 50 50 mix of vol and nos..now that's an art ! .. at least for me. I went so far as to add atmospherics to the fuel lines to drain them of NOS so I can restart it on an oxy vol mix, which is relatively simple. I would like to see the video where anyone gets them from zero to full speed on vol and nos alone.. manually !!

@nico nico ... That's the only way I've run the combustion centrifuge. The trick is to be very patient and start with the throttle. No more than 10% throttle for no more than a second or two at a time before returning to zero throttle, wait for stress to drop back under 50%, repeat. The first 100-150 RPM are the longest and hardest. Once you're up past 150, you can start leaving the throttle up for longer and slowly working it up. Drop it to zero any time stress gets over 20%. Only mess with combustion lever after throttle is maxed at 100%. There are a few tricks to get it going faster, but they're harder to explain in writing.

@@asureaskie what is the only way you do it ? oxy or nos ? because I can stand upside down or paint the whole thing pink, it won't start on nos.. I tried that 20 times.. the stress rises faster and decays slower than the rpms do.. so - no chance.. but the atmospherics on the fuel line are a good solution for me, I can drain the pipe of nos and add o2 when I want to restart it, and drain the o2 and add nos when it is on full speed. just have to be careful not to drain all the oxygen carrier (o2 or nos) completely, or it will stop even with the combustion limiter on zero..

I can't believe it! I love the rocket sounds. From following your videos, I managed to get a rocket set up. I figured out the storage tanks and pressure valves and sorting system and layout etc. I downloaded your rocket ic code as that is beyond my abilities. I was soooo excited. I pulled the lever to launch my rocket and ran to a distance to watch. I didn't hear it take off. I though that was logical as I keep my sound pretty low. So, I turned up the sound and anxiously waited for the first return and the loud rocket noises. Sadly, when the rocket landed, there was no sound. . . . . Then I realized the problem. My base is on the moon which doesn't have an atmosphere so NO SOUND! I guess I will have to progress to Mars. Anyway, thanks for all the help and entertainment.

You can simply add atmosphere to the moon by editing the worldsettings file in the save game folder of your choice. make a backup first ;)

Or add the terraforming mod that Mick is currently using and start adding atmosphere :)

@@mwwoggy that might be an option, I cannot test that though, the terraforming mod doesn't seem to work under linux..unfortunately ^^ spawning 10 mols of oxygen (per cube) on mars did work with no problems I tested that yesterday ;)

It looks like the gas trader specifically does, and it might also be possible to pay for the exchange with some extra hydrogen. Not sure how *much* they'll take, but hey, good timing!

I'm curious, with all the programming and automation you've done, why haven't you coded a non-re-pressurizing airlock to save you messing with the vents every time, yet still allowing fast transit through the lock? Oddly that's one of the first things I made, as a challenge to myself to learn the game's programming language. Enjoying the series.

Why not cool the pollutant using radiators? It could possibly warm the atmo and increase the storage of pollutant without wasting cold gas!

I think an initial pass of cooling could be done with radiators or just release it all into the atosphere to cool down and then collect the cold gas back from the atmosphere for storage.

A little toxicity never hurt anyone. Terraforming means making the place feel like home, no pollution on the planet would mean it's not properly terraformed.
