Stationeers How to get started on Europa

Another getting started video, this time on Europa. This is probably the next in order of difficulty from Mars and ahte Moon and the first planet where you need to look after more than just your own needs because here the environment is actively trying to kill you and mistakes here will be quite unforgiving. It is very cold and your starting solar panels are almost useless so there a few different things to do here for survival.

This is my favorite planet! My first steps were to lower my suit pressure and temperature - my battery will live much longer. Then I made a cave in the nearest mountain. It worked 🙂

was kinda wondering do the live food go bad as fast as in the other areas because of the cold wouldnt the lifespan of eggs and the like be longer?? because as fast as you can build i dont really see a way to get the eggs and mushrooms to the safety of a fridge before they go rotten with the first batch sent with the pod

I wonder if they plan to add heat transition through solid objects like walls, so you'd have to make insulated frames and such. UPD That 50/50 proportion of oxygen in the fuel was ticking me off. Somehow the ice on Europa is 100 degrees hotter than the atmosphere, and it becomes even hotter as you pump it into storage unit. If you set your gas mixer to 67/33, fewer moles of Hydrogen are added to the mix, resulting in 50/50 proportion. It still works for generators, but the efficiency is about 15% lower. You can waste some power to heat gases equally, but it's not so hard to manually set the mixer to something like 74/26 to get the ideal 66/34 proportion. Also the portable power generator is probably the most efficient power source (and the canister from your welder can last for hours), till you can build batteries and utilize the full potential of a solid fuel generator.

There is insulation in creative mode but it doesnt seem to do anything. I am not sure if it is not implemented yet or abandonned idea, it would be nice to see the prefect insulation removed. I only noticed the fuel mix when editing. I usually put a heat exchanger across the fuel lines but forgot to on this video.

There is an equation that can calculate what to set the fuel mixer to, so it always produces fuel at a perfect 1:2 ratio, regardless of the temperature difference. I found it on the unoffical stationeers wiki. If the H2 pipe is connected to input 1 (the side), then: gas mixer setting = 100 / ( 1 + Temp.oxygen/(2*Temp.volatiles) ) If the H2 pipe is connected to input 2 (the top), then: gas mixer setting = 100 * ( Temp.oxygen / (2*Temp.volatiles) ) / ( (1 + Temp.oxygen / (2*Temp.volatiles)) ) These are so short that logic circuits can calculate them.

Nice video cool to see what you did different from me. Have you experimented with Stirling Engine on that planet i use it with a basic furnace all automatically regulated 15-20 MPa burn in the furnace. Regulated feed with volume pump at max 1-5 MPa in the stirling at about 2000 degree . I have not check the power output but it keep my base running. Waste gas at the output i dump in atmos at the moment but could maybe run a second Stirling. Have to experiment. only have to mine a bit of volatile from time to time.

My base will have a sterling generator in the middle serving as the power and heater. I usually just loop the input and output to the furnace and just have to give a little blast from the furnace to keep it warm.

What hunger / hydration rate are you at? I tried it at rate 1.0 and ended up giving up after I ran out of water before I even had an ice crusher or furnace. It didn't help that it took forever to find copper on my first mining trip.

Finally managed to get a base setup at stationeers difficulty level with hydration / hunger of 1.0 on Europa. Damn, it's quite difficult. You really need to find iron, copper, gold, and silicon quickly on your first mining run and I had to restart several times because I would take forever to find one of the four of those.

I usually use the default Hunger of 0.5. You have to be quite disiplined with your build order when you go higher as you have obviously found out. Mine just enough to get what you need and get building. Tricky if you get a bad seed and cant find what you need.

On the pressure external logic assignment, when you switched from the first to the second, it appeared you didnt set the variable a for the second.
