Totally agree this is a great game. Once you get past the steep learning curve after a few turns it really comes to life. Definately needs a second play as you really have to optimise your strategy from turn one.

Going through the tutorial mission was a good idea. It gave you the chance to get familiar with the actions. I assume that this game changes alot depending on the number of players. When there were only a few players, Engineer was able to absolutely dominate and destroy the station quickly. Other characters did not have the actions to prevent it. With more players this dynamic probably changes. More people are trying to make sure that officers do not get to the bridge or close to the reactor.

Actually this game plays well even down to 2 players. The point being that the less players you have the easier it is for someone to see & block your strategy. Thus in your example actually there are a number of ways players could block the gains an Engineer would be hoping for, whilst maximising their own gains. A low player game can thus be highly strategic. High player counts are more crazy fun though.

@@egoDEATH33 Yes, but that is inherently dissatisfying to me. I do not want to "waste" a couple of rounds to prevent the opponent from doing X, while I am not entirely sure are they even trying to do X. I would rather advance my own goals as it is less risky and instantly satisfying. Perhaps with more experience this evolves to a more interesting meta plays, where all parties are hiding their own agendas and there are bluffs and double bluffs etc. Then it becomes more interesting.
