The Statue of Liberty is an iconic landmark of New York City. On the final day of July, 2018, three friends and I climbed to the crown. Only 500 people are permitted to do this each day. This video log will show you our entire experience from beginning to end and help prepare you to climb to the top as well. Highly recommended!!! Thanks for watching!

Got to say you sold NYC very well, especially the Statue of Liberty. I did not realise you could go up higher and on upto the crown, so will show my daughter in law this, as she is going to NYC in December. Looked real cramped but also real good fun and man them views were awesome. Well done on getting up there and talking the stairs down (I always do), thanks for taking us along, cheers Alan

Randy, This was the first place I went to see when on business in NYC in 1986, and always visited every year in the 1990s when I was working frequently in NYC as a consultant. I especially appreciate your 1979 photograph, as I also have a photo very special to me that I took from the Circle Line boat with the statue and the Twin Towers and we will #NeverForget. You have made an excellent video tour of what it is like to climb the crown - feels like we are with you!!! Your videos are so special no mater where you take us. And there is no trip to Manhattan that is complete without lunch at a deli! I want the hot pastrami, THANK YOU FOR THE TOUR, . . . Mike

You know i always look forward to watching your clips and wish you continued success!
@AmericasParks

Really kind of you, Robert! Yeah, channel made some big gains over the summer as the Sequoia and Yosemite videos "popped." Picked up most of the views and subs through both of them. Then a few weeks back they both hit a wall and things slowed down. Crazy KZbin algorithm picks you up and then dashes you to the ground! :) Hope you guys are doing well. Will get going on the 911 Memorials then plan to tackle the Montana trip. Enjoy the weekend! Hard to believe it's been almost 3 months since we were in San Diego.
@RobertLWard
@RobertLWard 5 жыл бұрын
What do you mean by the " KZbin algorithm"? KZbin is weird. My videos sometimes go thru " Hot" cycles also and just die. Kinda strange but over all ive been doing better with the views by sharing on other sites mostly. Lately some nice comments from subscribers as well so its all about posting new material. Im shooting for like 10 more clips by years end and try and get to 30,000 views over all.
@AmericasParks
@AmericasParks 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, KZbin has a complex computer system (it's always changing and no one know how it works) that rates videos on what it thinking is important, Naturally those are the ones that will should up early in a search or be recommended for a viewer. The key is cracking the code to get picked up by the computer. Much of it is determined by total views and interactive comments from others, etc.
@AmericasParks
@AmericasParks 5 жыл бұрын
I just keep reminding myself that the videos I make are primarily for friends and family. Don't want to get caught-up with finding my significance (as many do) in likes and subs.

I remember seeing The tops of the enormous cranes from my bedroom window in Lower Manhattan, in 1972 as the towers were nearing completion. I remember years later when I was a teenager I had a vivd dream that a plane crashed on Pitt Street which was the first street just outside that same window. A few years after when I graduated High School I had a courior job near Wall Street, and would regularly deliver to both towers My father moved to the midwest shortly after the tragedy, and sold the Co-Op apartment I grew up in
@AmericasParks
@AmericasParks 4 жыл бұрын
What an incredible story! Thanks for sharing that. Really fascinating to me because my father worked in lower Manhattan when they were constructing the Twin Towers too. I was only 8, but he had stories of their construction. He was transferred to, yes, the Midwest (Chicago) in the mid-70's. I moved back to the east coast (NJ) with my family just 2 months before the tragedy in 2001. Again, thanks for your comment! We all have special memories of that building.
@Unconsciouzone
@Unconsciouzone 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply, and my apologies for the typos. (I was typing in the dark) I too was tranferred to Chicago In 1969 to stay with my Great Grandmother for the summer. I was five when I left. I remember my aunt tried to convert me to a Cubs fan, but my heart was in New York at the tender age of five and I rooted for the Mets that whole summer. I remember they took me to a game at Wrigley to watch the Cubs vs Reds. Johnny bench hit a homer in that game, and I might have been the only kid sporting a shiny Mets helmet which my aunt begrudgingly bought for me in lieu of a hot dog. Our apartment was the Masryk Towers Coop which featured an amazing view of the Pitt Street pool, and over the top of that the amazing NYC skyline completely unobstructed. We could see the tiny billows of smoke from the Pan Am building when the helicopter crashed there in '77 The Bedroom I mostly occupied as a kid growing up was the only room in the house that faced west, so I was the only one in the house that could see the tops of the towers.

I wish I was never up that early, but I have to wake up at 5am everyday for work. Haha, that line for the statue is insane. It makes me wonder when they have to put "this is not an exit signs" up in places that are obviously NOT an exit. But you know they had to do that because multiple people tried it. Such a great experience to be able to go up to the crown. Not many people get to do that!
