Totally agree. It's as if she saw Jennifer Saunders being an (intentionally) appalling interviewer in "More Bad News", thought it was a genuine documentary and decided, _"I can ask much more unimaginative, facile and ridiculous questions than that in an attempt to create a non-existent scandal surrounding a band on the road..."_

Real deaf more like! They're great but do you like Beethoven, Sinatra, Jim Reeves prob not. It's just different tastes. You only have to see 100,000 fans to know they are well liked. As long as you like it is what it matters. Great riffs & choruses. You should like CCR (Credence Clearwater Revival) not heard, then check them out. A similar swamp band.

The greatest sadness in the history of Rock is the demise of the THE FRANTIC FOUR, the greatest Rock Band in history. No matter what your bias or ignorance is, STATUS QUO are the most sincere and genuine and authentic Rock Band to plug in or hit a snare or cymbal. As the great John Lydon said in a BBC interview in 1977, the reason that THE SEX PISTOLS liked and respected STATUS QUO was because " they don't care what you think " Therefore, QUO's attitude defines what PUNK Rock is. There are some very intelligent musicologists who've drawn comparisons between The Ramones and STATUS QUO. This is due to the two bands creating their own brand and style that appears to be simple, yet is complex and unique. The demise of the Frantic Four has parallels to SPINAL TAP's. absurdity. When they reformed in 2013 and played sold out shows at Wembley Stadium, and other major venues, Francis ' Frame ' Rossi said that when they looked into the crowd they saw the toughest and hardest men and women openly and uncontrollably weeping as the greatest Rock Band of all time came on stage . For the first time since 1970, Rossi didn't say " ow are ya then, alright? " Which is his trademark intro. This was a very special and auspicious occasion in the history of the Universe and all the Gods were watching and listening. As the two greatest Guitarists and Bass player vocalists of all time conferred with the best swing/shuffle Drummer of all time, they launched into " Junior's Wailing " which knocked the first 50 rows back a metre. The Bass player and Vocalist that performed the vocals on the first 4 songs had multiple sclerosis, yet he gave the best performance of all 4 members. Within just a few seconds they launched into " Backwater/Just Take Me " a LANCASTER/PARFITT classic from their 1974 album called QUO. The crowd were exploding in rapture as the greatest Rock Band in history played the best riffs and rhythms ever heard. When Francis Rossi said " What can I say " Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan, the crowd went berserk, absolutely wild. He was talking about the Bass player and Drummer he had personally driven out of the Band in the mid-80's. Alan ' Nuff ' Lancaster on Bass / Vocals, John 'Spud ' Coghlan on Drums, Rick ' Reg ' Parfitt the best Rhythm Guitarist of all time / Vocals and Francis ' Frame ' Rossi the best Lead Guitarist of all time /Vocals otherwise known as The Frantic Four. Unbeknownst to all STATUS QUO supporters, we had no idea that when we heard " Pictures of Matchstickmen " in 1968, or " Down the Dustpipe " in 1970, that we were hearing the birth and fledgling sounds of the future No.1 Rock Band in history. if you ever want to meet the most ardent Rock Music supporters and you've got a few hours to listen, then have a chat with someone from the STATUS QUO army. Whether they are a Factory worker or a Lawyer, they'll give you the same reasons why STATUS QUO stand alone as The Greatest Rock Band of all time. RIP Alan Lancaster & Rick Parfitt

In 1992 Diesel Park West toured with Quo in Germany probably about twenty gigs. At first we like most people regarded them as a bit of a joke. At the first gig in Hamburg we watched them and basically had a laugh at their expense taking the piss. However by the third gig we were in awe of them. Their sheer work ethic and professionalism was a wonder to witness. We never seen anyone soundcheck so thoroughly. It's no coincidence that they have done such great business. Also what goes on between those two Telecasters is unbelievably tight and has a real magic about it. Status Quo are quite possibly the most socially important band in British rock n roll over and above all ( that's ALL) others.

I am a live sound engineer...and toured for 25 years. I was with an 80s rock band for 12 years... I was both their sound guy and their tour manager. 4 of the principle members had always stayed together...while a 5th band member had left for some years, and returned halfway through my tenure. These guys had been through marriages, kids, divorces, bad business deals, financial troubles individually...and as a band. They had been through feast and famine...and finally settled into a regular working schedule.... short run in the spring.... fairly extensive summer tour... with a short 2 week run between Thanksgiving and Christmas. By the time I quit, in 2012... the band had been together for about 33 years. They still got on amazingly well, but did have their ups and downs... I had my ups and downs myself, with them. It got quite ugly on a few occasions. But they were still very much a band, and still trucking along. There is just no way to spend that many seasons of your life together, and not have conflict. People change over the years... interest change, habits change, preferences change, priorities change. To keep all that balanced among 5 band members, management, and crew...is no easy task. The travel alone, is enough to make you mad sometimes, then add on top of that the workload... its a lot to deal with. But at the end of the day... if things turned bad, and the band had to fight something together... they always had each others back. Being on the road eventually became their version of summer camp. A chance to take a break from the pressures of home, and other business interests. Knowing they had a few solid hits over the years... was enough to keep them working at a steady pace...on a schedule they all decided on together...something they could all tolerate, the families could tolerate, etc... It became quite a nice gig. But there are still tons of pressures to keep it all up and running. Francis is like a Pete Townsend type personality... very guarded, while Rick is just more down to earth and simple. Of course they are going to have an issue now and then, after decades in each others faces. But it doesn't mean they don't place a high value on each other, in many ways.

Being on the road for months, playing the same music night after night, seeing the same faces day after day... living on a bus, eating not the best food, not having family around, having to "turn it on" every night... certainly not an easy lifestyle. And not for everyone. The recent "retirement" of David Paich of Toto is an example of the body just saying "that's enough". It's a brutal life. But for the fans, every concert has to appear fresh. Some people might have waited years to see these performers. Can't disappoint them, not matter how rotten you feel. And when all the bills for the tour are paid, the bus driver, the food, the assistants, the management, the techs, the hotel bills, maybe there will be some money left over for he performers. Then there's the adrenalin rush and the drop. the depression, cramped dressing rooms, the depressing hotel rooms.. Give the guys credit. The average fan just doesn't realize what's involved in a tour. This video does a good job in filling in the gaps.

I don't understand how a band has been successful for 40 odd yrs (@ when this doc was made), and are playing in really small venues, and crappy hotel rooms. You would think they would be playing in stadiums or arenas, and crashing in 5 * hotels. Also, people who keep asking Francis about Rick's death, and saying he doesn't care, just because he doesn't publicly show any emotion about it, really should watch this. They both admit they love each other, but more tellingly, is Francis' 'wall' when being interviewed. He's been in the spotlight and interviewed too many times to air his real feelings in public. Maybe when he's alone he becomes sad sometimes over Rick, maybe not, but both are OK.

NEVER TOO LATE IS A VERY INTELLIGENT ALBUM. IT IS ONE OF THEIR BETTER ALBUMS. PROOF THAT IT WASN'T THE MUSIC THAT FORCED SPUD TO LEAVE THE BAND, IT WAS ROSSI. FRAME IS WHAT I CALL ' THE ANTI-QUO ' MY 'COMICAL' ATTEMPT AT ELEVIATING THE DEEP SADNESS AT LOSING OUR GREAT BAND IS TO CLAIM THAT ALIENS ABDUCTED THE 'REAL' ROSSI AND REPLACED HIM WITH 'THE ANTI-QUO'. SOME OF THE POST-FRANTIC FOUR ALBUMS HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE UNDER THE NAME STATUS QUO, WE KNOW WHICH ONES I MEAN. THEY BETRAY THE QUO TRADEMARK. THEY BETRAY THE GENUINE QUO SUPPORTERS. I AM A VERY PASSIONATE MUSIC LOVER AND I LOVE 'BLESSED ARE THE MEEK' FROM UTI, BUT IT'S NOT QUO!!!!!!! IT'S ONE OF MY FAVE SONGS TO SING ALONG TO. I ALSO LOVE BANDS LIKE DEAD KENNEDYS, GANG OF FOUR, SEX PISTOLS, RAMONES, I LOVE A LOT OF ALTERNATE AND DIY BANDS AND ARTISTS. I LOVE THE STOOGES AND MC5, BUZZCOCKS, IN AUSTRALIA, THERE WERE AND ARE 100'S OF AWESOME ROCK BANDS LIKE CELIBATE RIFLES, LIME SPIDERS, SPY VSPY, YOU AM I, THE SAINTS, RADIO BIRDMAN, NEW CHRISTS, X, the Meanies, Frenzal Rhomb, and Screamfeeder & the Hard-Ons FROM THE 'MEAN' STREETS OF PUNCHBOWL, SYDNEY. THE CASANOVAS FROM MELBOURNE, WORDS CAN'T DESCRIBE HOW GREAT THEY ARE, THEN THERE'S THE SCIENTISTS WHO ARE A MAJOR INFLUENCE ON SEATTLE GRUNGE SCENE. AFTER PLAYING 'NIGHTRIDE' ON MY DRUMKIT, I'M CLOSE TO EXPLODING ( I HIT MY KIT VERY HARD, WITH VERY THICK STICKS ) SPLINTERS COME OFF THE HIGH HAT, SOME HIT ME IN THE FACE. I ALSO LOVE MOZART. I LOVE ARTISTS THAT ARE TRUE TO THEMSELVES AND THAT'S WHAT THE SEX PISTOLS LIKED ABOUT QUO. THE SEX PISTOLS RESPECTED QUO FOR NOT CARING WHAT THE MAINSTREAM AND MEDIA THOUGHT OR SAID ABOUT THEM. I WOULD'VE PREFERRED QUO TO STEER TOWARDS HARD RHYTHMIC ROCK, EVEN ANTI-COMMERCIAL ROCK THAN SOFT MAINSTREAM/COUNTRY MUSIC. PROBLEM WAS THAT ROSSI KNEW WHERE 'THE BODIES WERE BURIED' PLUS HE'S THE BEST LEAD GUITARIST AND SINGER A ROCK BAND COULD WISH TO HAVE APART FROM REG PARFITT. SO ROSSI WAS PROBABLY IRREPLACEABLE. I LOVE THEIR 60'S PSYCH POP/ROCK AND THEIR TRANSITION TO MA KELLY'S AND DOG OF TWO HEAD. SOME PEOPLE MAY SAY THAT THE 80'S AND 90'S QUO APART FROM THE EXCELLENT ROCK TIL YOU DROP ALBUM WAS ALSO A NATURAL CHANGE & TRANSITION. THE FACT THAT QUO HAVE BEEN FUNCTIONING FOR MANY DECADES IN DIFFERENT FORMS MEANS THAT THEY'VE BEEN ABLE TO 'COME BACK' AND PRODUCE SOME OF THE BEST ROCK ALBUMS, NOT JUST BY THEM BUT BY ANYONE, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, 4TH CHORD, QUID PRO QUO, BULA QUO (ROCK TRACKS ) THESE ALBUMS ARE VERY CLEVER AND WELL PRODUCED. I FEEL THAT CREEPIN' UP ON YOU IS ONE OF THEIR FINEST MOMENTS. I PERSONALLY LOVE RIFFS AND FITLCENTURY, IN FACT I THINK THEY ARE BRILLIANT. THE IRONY IS THAT QUO ARE DAMNED IF THEY REPEAT THE 3 CHORD BOOGIE AND ALSO DAMNED IF THEY TRY DIFFERENT STYLES. THE QUO JOURNEY IS A ROLLER COASTER RIDE. HANG ON TIGHT.............................OR JUMP OFF

People have no respect for what the Quo gave to the world, the critics can say what they like but none of these critics contributed anything to the world of music so who the hell are they to ridicule the mighty Quo with their endless "3 chord" rubbish, if it's only 3 chords then let us hear these critics play them.

I mean..., they probably can. I love Status Quo and their music is good but simple. Pick up a guitar, learn to play shuffle and 3 chords in the time key 4/4 and there you go. Play it in a verse chorus verse chorus solo chorus pattern and you'll start a Quo cover band in no time :-) Now, notice how I don't say that simple music is bad. I love Quo and I love boogie rock! Obviously it takes effort and knowledge of the instruments to play as tight and good as Quo does - I'm a music student, I should know.
