@@analogfool go to a gold smith and get some custom designs. you can choose whatever material you like (for example white gold, which is usually not sold in random online design stores) and support an actual human being. most of the time it's not more expensive than buying from a design brand (even small one) cause you don't have to pay all the marketing etc. in the price. you can bring them inspos and work on a design together. if you are looking to invest and are looking for good quality materials, always good to go to craftswomen.

I'm a knitter and even started an etsy shop to sell quality hand knit items and a few months ago I went on the Gucci website, just to see what designer brands are charging, assuming they made good quality wool and cashmere knitwear. Yeah. I was SHOCKED when I realised that most of the sweaters where acrylic or polyester, you know, like what you get at h&m lol. I found one cashmere sweater for over 1000$ and it wasn't even hand knit. Idk what these brands are thinking.

BVLA and Anatometal have the best jewelry in my opinion. Great quality and unique designs but they are pretty pricy. They don’t have the lower quality metals such as “surgical steel” so they only offer things like titanium and gold

Make your own. Racist Chinese will make anything from a drawing in a week or two and that'll be bad, but decent, and yours. They'll share info with you. Search for better equipment in your local area and grow from this. I'd do this. Can't stand 99,9% of poor jewelry, but this is the way for me. The Chinese is like some sort of jumpstart with OK custom product ready quickly, you can try find local designers with sort of a conveyor for new designs, I'd honestly prefer China to anyone else at first.

I’m just going to say that most “rich” people are aware of this and don’t buy “luxury designer jewelry”, chanel is widely referred to as costume jewelry. If they wanted to buy branded/known jewelry of quality, they go straight for cartier, vca and bulgari which deals with pure metals. Not even tiffany anymore. I am a gemologist and I am aware that even those brands with the pure materials mark the prices up so high, way beyond the value. I mean de beers and Harry Winston are a complete scam when it comes to gemstones. So personally I only buy from independent jewelers to get pure metals and a better quality stone at the lowest cost, usually you can even ask them to source something for you and have it made. Most of these luxury designer jewelry simply feeds trends which idk, maybe influencers want? But people who buy for quality are definitely not fooled. It’s the same thing with their bags, some of the higher level name brands are using the same quality leather as michael kors. Chanel and LV are currently known for their ever decreasing quality, and issues arising, while their prices are at an all time high. Top grain leather not bad, however for the full benefit of leather, lasting, aging appearance of the bag, I recommend everyone to buy full grain leather bags only. Don’t waste your money on top grain or worse those plasticy tote bags with a logo. There are amazing options from italian and French brands that are below 400 and they will last! Anyway thank you for this great video and making people more aware. Please consider your purchases and buy better buy less where you can afford.

Loro piana, Brunello cucinelli, Celine, delvaux, moynat, moreau and even loewe are all in the highest price bracket I’ll mention, but from Sandles, cashmere clothing, amazing leather bags they really have it all, and these are items you will buy only once and even can pass to your kids. They last. On the slightly lower tier I would say mansur gavriel, furla, acne studios, boldrini selleria, Roberto pancani and coccinelle. These brands all have great, all rounder bags. Helen Kaminski has amazing hats visors and raffia bags for summer. My recommendations for bags are: Celine classic in black Mansur gavriel small zip tote, any colour you like Loro piana Sesia micro or their ostrich pouch is very elegant. I completely forgot to mention longchamp. I love their bags and they are definitely affordable. They have a mini bag for around 250 that I am definitely considering buying. Bally, furla, Ralph Lauren and mulberry also have great bags for everyday use. You honestly only need one to three bags. An evening bag, a day bag and a tote of some sort. Remember your style is totally unique to you and what suits you might not be what influencers are wearing. Don’t waste any more money on trends! You can also check second hand websites like vestiaire, vinted and eBay for amazing deals. If the leather of a bag is damaged you can take it to be repaired also. Im going to be honest. Ive met way too many millionaires/billionaires who buy fake items, especially clothing and shoes, because the real version is simply not worth paying for. But of course they’ll never admit this and even take sponsors. You don’t need brands to feel good. @@afrommation5279 A few more of my favourites for clothing include Eleventy, letanne, Joseph, Eric bompard, missoni, aethel (which uses cariaggi and Loro piana wool), etro and even Lacoste makes beautiful polo dresses which are just amazing in summer. I seem to have forgotten valextra and mark cross bags in my original answer but they are fabulous also. I’ll recommend you to stay away from Max Mara, this might be shocking but Ive bought trousers for 200 pounds where the hemming falls out and they lost their shape, just not worth it. There may be other brands to avoid but I can’t remember them all, I’ll get back to you on it… When you buy clothes look at their label and try to get the best % of natural materials like linen, cotton, cashmere, silk etc. depending on what suits you…. 100% is ideal. Cashmere is fantastic and usually non/ wrinkle. As for bags like I said full grain only. Invest in things like bed sheets and great kitchenware for your ease at home. Also one or two good perfumes, my choices are Lost cherry by Tom Ford for autumn and winter and Jo malones freesia and English pear for spring and summer, but this is completely personal to you. Most importantly experiences and trips. Where possible, eat well. Don’t worry so much about clothes and bags, just a few great quality versatile pieces that fit authentically to you. Think long and hard before buying anything at all, preferably make a list and remove things you don’t like anymore. Make a vision board with all the pieces and see what matches and can work together, go from there. Work out your body type and what fabrics work, what styles and cuts work and what colours work. There’s no point in buying great items that don’t suit you… if you have any specific questions I’m happy to help

IMO Gucci silver jewelry is priced well for designer sterling. If she likes the design and can afford it, it will probably hold up well over time. Just know anything with enamel is more sensitive, as enamel is prone to cracking/flaking, more so on silver than gold pieces.

Sophie Shohet did a Chanel unboxing where she had purchased a small silver wrist pouch thing, and it was so poorly made she said it looked like a cheap fake. I distinctly remember seeing a post a few years ago from an OP who bought a Chanel rep purse for ~$500 USD, and OP's mom bought the real thing at like ~$5k-6k USD. I have very acidic skin…even plated jewelry breaks down quickly! I invest in 14 karat golds. 14 karat has a gold content pure enough to be true to color, but also has longevity. Etsy is my go-to for the most reasonably priced, handmade gold materials straight from the jeweler. I would also recommend (in fine jewelry investing) becoming familiar with the Mohs scale of hardness for gemstones. I prefer to wear my jewelry and not worry about my lotion or perfume changing the color over time. Rubies are fantastic for this, along with sapphires. Emeralds typically contain inclusions that are filled with wax…which breaks down over time. Sapphires come in an array of colors. There are also TONS of other great stones that have great scratch resistance and will easily become an heirloom. Credit goes to my father who owned a jewelry store growing up, and letting me ply with the Diamond loop ❤️👏🏻

Cubic zirconia is surprisingly hard - an 8.5 on the scale, which is the same or a bit higher than topaz. If you're looking for a Diamond, but don't wanna deal with the unethical sourcing - moissanite is fantastic, and it is just 0.75 less on the scale than diamonds

The lead isn't an impurity, it's there by design. That being said to the best of my knowledge it is not actively harmful to the consumer the way lead paint is but I would worry about the people making it.

The lead makes the glass more sparkly, and once it's in glass form it's very chemically stable so it's not possible to absorb enough to hurt you. It is very probably bad for the workers and the environment though.

@@katarzynapuchaa128 hi katarzyna, if you are buying from a retailer/ organisation, either online or in store, they should be certified by the World Fair Trade Organization (wfto), which takes a bit of research because it's not always stated on the product itself. I am only familiar with European companies who have been certified, EZA and Contigo for example. Another company which offers beautiful silver jewelry is Pakilia, which is based in Mexico. I do think some of those ship worldwide though. Hope this helped a bit!

So thankful this was recommended to me. I have a small illness that makes me extremely cold (mostly in the winter) so I only go for wool or cashmere, absolutely no synthetics. It really helps me feel more comfortable. I noticed something... The cheap sweaters are like 14.99 at H&M or 30 max and the quality is poor and normally 100% acrylic or something with like 2% wool. There are decent brands from about 70 to even 300 that are 100% wool, recycled wool, or even cashmere. However, once you go over that price range, the quality goes back to what you can find at H&M but you have to dish out mega bucks. It's crazy. You have to do research. I've found a lot of midrange stuff is a great balance of quality and price. You can find a peacoat that is 100% wool, minus whatever lining, for $150.00 new and keep that for decades. I lucked out and got a $130.00 100% wool coat for $10.00 at a thrift store about five years ago.

I dont know about the US, but where I live people that actually have a lot of money (oftentimes generational wealth) would refrain from buying anything that even has a slight hue of tackiness. They would just go out in noticeable high quality clothing that would never had a visible brand name/ design on it (with the exception of Burberry coats and Barbour Jackets). All the tacky, extremely overpriced stuff seems to be bought by influenced young people hoping to gain status by it - but they are by no means really able to afford this lifestyle. And why do they buy it? Because they see it on famous people that (for the most part) get that stuff handed as free goodies for promotional purposes OR its rappers and other newly rich celebrities/influencers that fall into the hype beast trap as soon as the first check comes in. I just recently seen a chart that Louis Vuitton makes most money with under 30yrs old customers.

Coming from India, the country which collectively holds the largest volume of gold, it's mind boggling to see people settle for 'less' while paying a bomb just for a brand name. Like, gold jewelry buying in India is very mathematical, the jewelry is weighed, the brands are asked to make their best offer for the gram rate, there's a making charge added (this is where the brand value will add the most premium but it's not atrocious like these brands, and many times, more than the brand name, it's the intricacy of the design that makes a higher value added here), and wastage charges (cost of the discarded gold due to making it, this may be higher for gem encrusted jewelry).. Like, yeah you may pay extra from a prestige brand for 'cool, hip' designs (like Mia from Tanishq), but u could also buy gold, go to the local jeweler and pay them reasonable rates to make custom pieces in a much more affordable manner! This seems like daylight robbery and like the first design you showed, it doesn't even look artsy enough to warrant that markup! I'd expect JAR level artistry for these rates

You should always check on the Materials when you buy something regardless the brand. I totally agree that luxury brands these days are nothing more than cheap fast fashion that do not bring anything of value to the customer most of the time. There are exceptions as DIOR, Bulgari and others have dedicated fine jewelry lines that overcharge just as much. Most fashion houses do not survive because of their outstanding quality or Design but in exclusivity and prestige associated with them. And cheaply made branded jewelry is like the lowest entry point that will get you that flex...

@@LisaFevral I absolutely agree with you and to be honest, fashion brands (luxury or not) do not really educate the customer openly what kind of materials they use. Of course, there are always exceptions and initiatives that do try to make processes/materials (and so on) more transparent to the customer. But more often than not, it will come down to one's own research. Just to add "another two cents" - if we take a quick and somewhat superficial look at the big luxury houses, they are doing to much e.g. Homeware, Decor, Bags, Jewelry, fragrances -you name it- in too little time when you look at how often they churn out new collections. They are cutting costs and more often than not turning aways from the few areas they specialized in in the "golden days". Louis Vuitton is a prime example going from luggage artisan to basically an all fashion/lifestyle brand. This, in itself isn't bad per se, but I'm interested to see where this will lead to in the long run!

Can even find vintage resellers who exclusively sell jewelry found from estate sales. Prices usually lower than these cheap high fashion costume crap.

if you want less expensive jewelry that is nice quality and won't tarnish, look for vermeil, stainless steel (which can be made in different colors and is the cheapest) or sterling silver and the stones can be less expensive gems like topaz instead of diamonds. also gold filled instead of gold plated.

Stainless steel is amazing. It's so cheap, if not marked up by a brand, but so durable and hypoallergenic (for my skin atleast, am allergic to costume jewelry metal) you can wear it to showers, workouts and sleep. Some gold colored stainless steel maintains the color even better than gold plate. The price to quality ratio is unparalleled.

I would honestly really recommend going to vintage jewelry resellers if you’re looking for fancier pieces and don’t mind inscriptions and slight wear. My mom and I share 2 rings + 6 necklaces + 2 bracelets + 3 pairs of earrings that are vintage and range from 60-134 years old with really unique design/cuts that are handcrafted and in total cost around $2500. Most of them are gold with diamonds or sapphires and much higher quality than more expensive and newer jewelry we’ve bought

Luxury and designer brands haven't been about quality for awhile across the board. I would rather shell out that kind of money to a smaller sustainable brand who pays their workers a fair wage and get items that will last a long time. Also, resellers often suck, but they have the right to exist and do what they do. Chanel can go f*ck itself. Never been a fan of the brand, especially knowing Coco Chanels involvement with Nazis and the brands willingness to cover up as much of that info as possible. Luxury fashion isn’t even luxurious anymore! The only items I go for when I do shop are the clothes, bags, and belts. Even still, I make sure to check the composition of the clothes. Really liked this video. At least they are "honest" about using brass and glass and not pretending for it to be gold or pearls. It's like they're saying: We know that the materials are sh!t and you know they're sh!t, do you still want to continue and buy this stuff only to brag about owning Chanel or Versace jewelry? Wow this came up in my recommended and I took a chance and clicked. I have never been a fan of big brand fashion house jewellery, it has always looked like costume jewellery to me and not authentic at all. Being Indian I have grown up to appreciate gold and silver jewellery so we usually stick to those only because we know they have value and quality. It always baffled me that people spend hundreds and thousands on big fashion brand jewellery! Thank you for explaining and exposing the scam of all this brass jewellery! That’s not to say that wearing brass is a bad thing, but to describe something as gold and describe it as brass is just shameful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, you have a new subscriber 💓 x
