Lol you seem like a cool dude. The trucker line cracked me up. Been doing van life for 6 years and now playing around with ultralight backpacking. Next stage of evolution or, my final form, full hobo. Reading dharma bums now and your videos for inspiration. Thanks for sharing. Peace and good flow on your adventures.

A old school train rider trick to washing clothes Is use a cardboard box. Sturdier the longer it will Last. Just fill up box with weather,soap and swish Around. Usually last for a small load. Also you Can line it with large plastic bag to stop breaking Down of box. I once back in the 70s one hot summer day stood Under a drive through water spray for bugs on Windshields in a rest area on I-10. People drove By, I didn't give a crap. I've been Hitchhiking and riding freight's since The late 70s. At 66 I still go out and hitch and Ride freights every summer. Watched videos before, but just subbed ya. If ya get to Spokane, WA and need to rest up Let me know..

7:35 Sunscreens lately have been causing cancer, the primary thing they are supposed to prevent. Some research suggested that you were more likely to get cancer from it than if you were cautiously avoiding sun exposure without any on. A good thing to do daily is wash your face, pits and crotch. Face is what everyone sees first and the one place people care about being dirty, pits and crotch are your two primary smelly areas. Then do regular bathing once a week. Doing this you will be clean enough for most people to not want to avoid you at all costs and you will be cleaner than majority of other hobos.

Hey! Great video! I found you via google images and came across your BivyPack. I always wondered how guys can stay so fresh and so clean clean while camping and remaining around society so you gotta have a system to mask your natural smells haha. I'm getting that soap asap and merino wool now! I shall avoid truckers offering wet wipes hahaha Btw the link to buy your BivyPack isn't working. I have a Bivy already and love it but i think id like to get a multi purpose one like yours. Do you still sell them?
@HoboLifestyle Жыл бұрын
Thanks! There's no BivyPacks available right now, but more and more people are asking, so eventually I gotta get around to making more. I'll definitely post about it. Cheers!

Something I do for deodorant that took a bit for me to figure out for my work/camping bag, is that you can take a travel sized deodorant container, pull the actual product out or just use it, and just put the product from a full sized deodorant in it. Still not small as what you have, but more space efficient compared to the normal. I've had the same "shell" for a good couple of years.
@HoboLifestyle Жыл бұрын
I once tried just unscrewing deodorant into a plastic ziplock, basically no container at all. Doesn't get any lighter, right? Haha, that was a sloppy, crumbly mistake.
@lhorschler Жыл бұрын
@@HoboLifestyle oh yea I tried that too, same experience. There's a deodorant called tussy, not kidding, it was alright and spread on like a cream but helping it all over your hands was, I don't know what was wrong exactly it just wasn't right lol.

Lol, everyone hates sunscreen, it's just nasty ;) Recently I started forcing myself to put it on while hiking in the summer. I even carry a tiny cloth to wipe my greasy sweaty face before reapplying 😖 I wonder if I instead could use just the zinc oxide/titanium dioxide, which are the most proven active ingredients used in sunscreen. They are basically white powder, which is supposed to to block the light, kinda like painting your window white. In sunscreen lotions they mix it with oils and other stuff, which helps to keep the screen on yoyr skin and distribute it evenly. But maybe mixing that zinc oxide into a regular, non greasy face cream would be better than not using it at all? 😅 Ah, BTW during summer I also use long sleeve polyester shirts. Maybe I'll even buy that special UV blocking ones one day.

Probably being an Australian, skin cancer is no joke. We get that drilled into us from kindergarten. Sunscreen is a must.

I do a lot of walking, maybe that has something to do with it. My diet is pretty random, totally depends where I am, what I stumble into, so not sure how much that helps or hurts. Great beer is good for the soul.

Not sure if you've done a video on it, if you have could you please point me to it, what is your financial situation? It doesn't seem like your strapped for cash, especially if your getting NBA tickets. Do you do this for fun? Do you have other means of income? Just curious.
@HoboLifestyle Жыл бұрын
Haha, that NBA ticket is a whole story and a good one that hasn't been told... but my buddy covered that one, no way I could have afforded that weekend. At any given moment I have somewhere between $3 and and few hundred dollars. Once I had ten thousand. Talking about the past 16 years since I started traveling like this. Currently I have no monthly bills, so I eat what I can afford, drink what I can afford, and live on. Haven't watched in a while, but I made this video about money a while ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWSUlWeIoZedo9U and I also have covered the "how to make money" and "spending money" on two different episodes on my podcast "Freestyle Travel Show" in the early days. Should I make a new video, and what should I specifically talk about?
