That’s why nothing happened , lol nothing too see here , everyday activity. Sad part is a lot of people make fun of places like this, down them in so many ways , as I’m guilty of too, but we all have to remember sad but true this is a way of life for some folks, all they can afford to keep afloat. I mean look what’s happening all across the u.s, I don’t know about any other cities, states etc but here in southern Cali where I’m at the homeless is out of control, like bad I’m sure you’ve seen on the news or witnessed yourselves. And as sad as it is it’s like there ok with it “ the uppers “ it’s like a normal everyday thing for most it’s like it doesn’t even phase them anymore, and that in my eyes is all around just nothing but all around “sad” I had so much pride for my country, state etc, now not so much, our flag should be green cause that’s alll they think about, sad all around in my opinion.

I was down and out for a while when I lived in NC, and would stay in my van for a week, then get a motel for a week. There was a motel I tried out, that was very cheap for a week, so I stayed there. The first night, I was watching tv, and there was a loud knock on the door. I opened up and there was a big, black Bertha type lady standing there. I mean, she was scary looking! But, she was all sweet to me and asked me if I was interested in buying any drugs. I said no thank you, I don't have much money and I don't do them anyway. She then got a smile and said "Hey, you're really cute! Would you like some female company tonight?" I was like, oh shit, what do I say! So, I just politely told her, "Thank you but, I really don't have the money to pay for company, and I'm really tired from work today. But, I appreciate the offer". She just smiled and said "Ok then, well you have a good night and get rest, and be careful around here. I'll keep an eye out for you to make sure no one messes with you." Lol. I about jumped every time I thought I heard someone walk past my door!

I was born and grew up in Huntsville and all around north Alabama. My family was very poor for the most part and when I was in highschool me and my parents would live for extended periods of time in motels not much better than this one. I never heard a lot about this place specifically but people just kind of know what to expect with a lot of the motels on this main road university. These places are rampant with drug addicts who just pan handle and do all types of shit for money. I remember living at the motel one of the dudes mentioned in this vid Southern Comfort and some dude trying to sell me and my cousin Ice ,which is meth, that type of shit was normal. It was kind of surreal seeing Tommy G make a video one of these shitty Motels where I'm from, the ville is definitely a good place to live and is growing a lot but there's bad areas there like everywhere for real.

@DrOlds7298 Жыл бұрын
One of the things I learned is to look how many vehicles in the lot are local registrations. In Huntsville.Ala it would be easier because Alabama uses a coding system on it's licence plates. So a car with a plate beginning with '47' (Madison Co.) is a 'local' car. As would '39' (Jackson) '44' (Limestone) '50' (Marshall) & '52' (Morgan) which are the 4 counties surrounding Madison/Huntsville. (IIRC the county directly North in Tennessee is Lincoln Co.?)

@@DrOlds7298 they changed so now you can get a random two digit number, like 78 is common....can be from anywhere in the state, but yes, you used to be able to tell the county by the tag. I guarantee HPD was sitting in the parking lot or next door the entire time he was there.

This reminds me of a place I stayed at in Indianapolis. When we got to the airport and told the cab driver where we were going, he turned around and said “you don’t want to stay there.” But we had no choice at that point. At about 3 am the gas station across the parking lot form my room I guess was getting robbed and the sound of the police PA speaker woke me up with “come out with your hands up!” And then when we left a giant rat scurried across the lot in front of our car.

My old neighborhood. Used to be called the Red Carpet Inn, it was probably worse in those days, back in 2006 someone shot the front desk woman dead in a robbery. I remember when I was 17 I had nothing to do on the last day of winter break and I walked around the neighborhood. I walked by the motel across the Olive Garden from this one, then walked into the now, Bama Inn parking lot. I noticed police were watching me the whole time and turned their lights on when I got to the Bama Inn. Everyone on the balcony went inside ASAP. Police asked why I’m walked to “ every motel in north Huntsville “, they pat me down, had some questions then sent me on my way. After that a random junkie approached me and asked what happened, I said “ they searched me “, then he said “ Oh, they searched huh!? “ then walked the other way. I think some of the motels along North Parkway are more run down, or look it at least.

The motel he stayed at is a shit hole, but he had to pass million dollar homes to get there. He is on the busiest street in the 2nd largest city in Alabama and the richest per capita. The cops sit in the parking lot all day and night....he is literally next door to a Range Rover/BMW/& Porsche dealership....I assure you he was in zero danger except from the bugs.

I live in Huntsville and actually work at a hotel on the same street (university drive) about a mile and a half away and it’s crazy the difference in the properties so close to each other. I would never stay at Bama inn. I refuse to even go in the parking lot. Unfortunately the only Olive Garden in town is right next door and happens to be my wife and daughters favorite restaurant 😂but that’s as close as I’ll go.

Bro you have to go back to Huntsville for another episode. I’ve lived all over the world and many types of different environments, Huntsville is one of the best places on earth. Cracks me up you went there and did an episode on a hotel that you could probably find pretty much anywhere in the US. 🤣

Tommy, whenever you go to South Carolina, please get in contact with me. I currently live in Alabama so seeing this was my sign, I’m an upcoming artist out here in Birmingham but originate from SC. I would love the chance to be your contact when you are able to make that trip. You got a great, positive thing going here, shedding light on places who don’t get that. I would love to keep in contact to set this up & have us shed some light on the way me & a lot of my family/friends came up but also to just build a genuine connection for the future. Blessings, stay faithful & rooted through your journey & i truly do hope you see this & it peaks the interest in your heart. Hope we talk soon brother 🙏🏽

I use to to deliver pizzas to the Bama Inn. High quality place, I always got tips there. Also special shoutout to the Econo lodge and Motel 8 across the road.
