hi Hannah, I have signed your petition. Hope it works, I think it will be useful for many people have things like entonox at home. I think it is great stuff, when I used to walk and fell over they would sometimes give it to me in A&E. I have cerebral palsy, I don’t walk any more and haven’t for many years. I take lots of muscle relaxant drugs and have some of them going directly into my spine I also have a colostomy and a catheter because I have problems with intestinal motility and other issues with containence. I would love to be able to access entonox some day as a more regular means of pain control. I enjoy your videos too.

Thank you so much Anika. It would benefit SO MANY people, wouldn't it? I am going to make it my mission to get it for any patient, wherever they live in the UK, who have it prescribed. The current system is so wrong. Sending hugs X

Wow, I learned so much! English isn't my first language and that might be a part of the reason, but in my mind the word hospice was kind of synonymous to end of life care. Thanks for correcting that! I'm sure anything more you can tell about it will be an education for me. Like, how long do people usually spend there? Are there other functions to it in addition to respite and end of life care? Are people who are there for different reasons somehow separated in terms of physical accommodation or activities or schedules or is it more the same? Do you have visiting hours or something like that? Do only bigger cities have them or does one need to be provided in your area? Can respite be arranged by another carer or a team just stepping in into your normal surroundings if your condition allows, or do you need to go away from home? I'm uneducated but very willing to learn ^^" thanks for taking the time to increase awareness and share this information! :)

So, to answer your questions. The hospice I go to, the amount of time differs from patient to patient. Respite is usually a couple of weeks a year, but if someone is passing away it could be days to months. Hospices offer different things in terms of beds. Some have shared bays of up to four people, and others have all separate rooms. There are no visiting times specifically at the three hospices I have been to, you can have friends and family coming to see you any time of the day or night. I guess big cities will have a couple, but there are a few around me who are in small cities, not just huge ones. End of life care can happen with a 'Hospice at home' team, but for respite you always have to go in. It's a nice change of scenery and a lovely place. Hope this helps x

Hi Hannah, it's lovely to see you again, and to hear about the hospice ... and to know that you and your mum have both been 'on your holidays'. I bet it was great for everyone being reunited again! I've signed your petition Hannah, and am really glad to know that support is growing... everything crossed that you get entonox at home very very soon. (I noticed the beautiful purple crotchet on the back of your chair - is that a blanket?) Please keep blogging! ,-)

Hi Hannah! I've been following your videos for a little while but never realised that you were from the same area as me (although in hindsight I could've told by the accent!) My mother works as a nurse in a local cancer hospice so I know how valuable they are. It was interesting to hear about your experiences of them, thank you!
