Bought the game in 2016, a month after it was released, i was 13 back then 😅 been playing it with my two best pals ever since. It was such an emotional moment for us to say goodbye to overwatch 1 the other day 🥺

Man I was just thinking how crazy it was that I built my first pc right after OW came out and have been playing consistently since then. Crazy how you can become so attached to the memory of a game and all the fun you had with it. WoW, RuneScape, and OW have been defining games in my life. Sad to see OW go

This reminds when I played Halo 2 until the servers went offline. I forgot how we found out but we were the last NA match on the server. It was such a sad feeling knowing we were never going to play online again.

I stayed until the server shutdown with all 12 players in peace having a dance party inside the Route 66 warehouse. We were in the same place, at the same time, on the same hero. Goodbye Overwatch, and thanks harb for all the fun content that helped me learn to be a better hog player. Good luck in the sequel.

Seriously the end of an era. here's hoping OW 2 is great. Was playing OW since launch and watched Harb a whole lot after that. Havent played in a long time but it just feels so weird especially since OW 1 just doesn;t exist anymore. Will def be playing OW2 though and looking foward to Harb getting #1 in that too ;) See you on the other side.

6v6 needs to comeback. Hear me out. It had the same harmonic symphony as a concert, where psychologically everything was organized and it gives a distinct satisfaction of chrono-synchronized group effort. As you would enjoy in a concert, whether as audience or performer. In success it rewards you with a unique mental orchestra and virtual camaraderie, though in failure more frustrating. But It is what made overwatch, overwatch. Not just a typical pvp shooter as it is closer to the others like valorant now, but back then had a feel that you would describe as “battle bonded fps chess”. It is the same psychological phenomenon that earned the praise OW had from Elon Musk I believe. Now it has lost what made it intrinsically eccentric and has embraced the trends of all other current fps games where players are more individual rather than connected.

I don't get why so many say this when OW2 is ultimately the better system to stay healthy and sustainable. Maybe the prices are still a bit ridiculous but free to play with ingame cosmetic purchases is literally the reason fortnite and league are so sustainable. Having to constantly maintain servers and make new cosmetics each season for years without more ppl buying stuff makes no sense, hence they couldn't do much more anymore. Calling a completely fair decision "cashgrab" just not fair

It's been 2 weeks. I've uninstalled Overwatch 2. No need to play what feels like a watered down mix of Overwatch and a generic FPS. I keep watching old videos of Overwatch, wanting to play it again. I'm sad.

Well, you answered it yourself. They don't want to split their potential player base. If OW2 sucks, they don't want you go back to OW1, so they force you to either play OW2 or gtfo.

@@lf2334 because it would split the player base like you said people who like 2 will play 2 and people who like 1 will stay and play. That's not a very profitable business move for blizzard just force people to the free to play cash grab game

Besides, having entire servers open for such a small playerbase is also not worth it. TF2 does that, and look what you get. It's not worth having ppl control reports there, the lobbies would be full of bots
