In Granblue I played 60+ matches with Beatrix and spent like 10 hours on training mode with her, mostly bc I really enjoy understanding the tools of a character and how to use them in different situations, but I really felt how I was getting more frustrated than usual, so then 2 days ago I went back to my two main characters, Katalina and Anila, and it legit felt terapeutic. Just yesterday I posted a clip of Anila doing something I've never done before bc I didn't understand how to use some of her tools correctly so I just went for it and it worked and I legit popped off for such a simple interaction (using her 22H and j.U properly to close a match). Fighting games are legit magical and offer you things that absolutely no other genre offers but they are really easy to get tired and burn yourself out of them, so I'am glad that Gekkosquirrel and you are down to talk about it and make content around it (even if it's just reacting to a video about the topic)

As we get older, we need to keep the friends circle fresh. That's what keeps fighting games fresh.

ego is a difficult one because I do believe you need somewhat of an ego to perform at the highest ability but it can also be incredibly bad for mental. tough to keep in check, I've gotten better at it but it's still a work in progress.

It is tough, real talk. I really hope I can get back to it but I need to be in a specific position in life to do that. So that's what I've been working towards for the past few years. But it's great to see your perspective on it, as always.

I once asked whether I should play multiple characters in a fighting game to Romola but I didn't get the impression that she values it that much. I think she said something along the line of "it depends" , but I get your point. I have played a few characters other than my main against actual people and those were some of the most valuable times I've spent.

Ego is a double edged sword. I need to work on my mental as well

Really good video, liked the part at the end on how to fix your mentality. It was very insightful.

"Fighting games arent made to be fair" - LK I think that needs repeating and louder. Working on the mental. So my imaginary teacher was katt williams, and while i dont smoke, i have picked up that "fuck it" mentality 😂. I won? Cool. I lost? Fuck it. Onto the next one. At the end of the day, this is a hobby for me so im not going to let games bother me, but i had to learn that at an early age.

Sadly I lost my motivation sometime in seasons 2 of Strive. My first real fighting game, but I hit a wall and just kinda didn't enjoy it anymore. Have dabbled in other games but can't find the spark. Hope I can get there again.

Idk if you've done this video idea before, but based on the idea of setting minor goals you could do something like that format where it's 2 people racing to see who can compete the most squares on a bingo board first in the process locking out the other person of completing a square. You could have stuff that's plausible but rarely happens or requires a difficulty read. It would depend on skill level though. Could make for a fun collab video. Seems like the kind of thing JMCrofts or Diaphone would be up for.

bro ive come to accept my soul is just the low tier. cause every character I ever choose when picking up a game ends up being terrible

Playing the same character for a 4 hours straight, a week straight, a month straight is just bad for your enjoyment of the game in my experience. It increases the chance of a mental block building up because you’re just doing the same thing over and over. Switching characters then switching back was the thing that lead me to improve most with my main

I play because it’s fun. This is just a hobby for me. I love the LK energy

I only play with Ken so by your standards that means I'm trolling? He's been my favorite character for over 3 decades. That is why I use him only. He's my boy.

literally three seconds after he says “if u only play one character ur trolling” he says “or you’re a character loyalist”.

I'm also talking about people who compete full time here
