Spending the night in a KURA, a traditional Japanese warehouse used in the past. We are staying at IIZUKATEI, a renovated hotel in Nakagawa Machi in Tochigi prefecture.
During our visit to this rural town, we'll visit one of the three most beautiful waterfalls in Japan, a shrine dedicated to owls, the only sake brewery in town and eat lots of delicious local food!

This fabulous video is chock full of sights, sounds, and flavors! How cool that on your second night at Iizukatei you were able to experience another room. The Kura is cozy indeed! All the food looked amazing as usual. The illuminations were lovely and uplifting. Everyone you met was so cordial, helpful, and generous. The waterfall was magnificent and interesting in its half-frozen state. And the Torinoko Sansho Shrine mixed religious belief with whimsy in a way I've only seen in Japan. The owls were endearing. Do you or Satoshi know if there are owls actually living on the grounds of the Shrine? Thank you for another wonderful adventure! Much love and many hugs. ❤️❤️

I'm so in love with the traditional buildings. If I ever built my own home, I would build a traditional Japanese house with and beautiful peaceful garden, water feature a fire pit for all year round use and of course black bamboo and cherry blossom is a must.

strawberries in America are just now becoming ripe enough to be delicious, not Japanese delicious but good enough. I’m gonna have to resort to a store bought mochi that’s been sitting around forever cutting it in half and putting a strawberry in the middle of it to somewhat figure out what what you’re eating taste like. I’m looking forward to it. I’ll have nothing to compare it to you so it should be tasty. I’m extremely jealous. Love you

I have always wanted to go to Japan since like 4th grade. Our class had a student from Japan her name was Takako and she was so awesome....she was in 4th grade and held a black belt in Karate....I remember being fascinated with what her mom made her for lunch (at the time I didn't know it was called a bento box lol) I just became obsessed with the culture....the beauty...and the food. Thank you for sharing this experience....I hope to see it for myself one day.
