I love how you find out in the series that, underneath the mask/prosthetics, Plo Koon is probably the most kind-hearted of the Jedi. The series makes it pretty obvious that Plo Koon genuinely means his apology, and Asohka knows it. Mace Windu comes to symbolize everything wrong with the Jedi before their fall: arrogant, disconnected from humanity, unwilling to bend or change, and unable to admit failure.

What's sad and a little creepy is, in Tales of the Jedi, we find out that Anakin kinda unintentionally foreshadowed and prepared Ahsoka to survive order 66 by training her to fight *against* clones.
@ethanhoerr2924

I thought it worked perfectly that Anakin’s unorthodox teaching style, challenging her to face the toughest possible threats, was the reason why she survived so long against so many. It was a fitting, characteristically-Anakin way to remove her plot armor as the reason why she survived Order 66.
@deserttrekkie

Initially I thought it was just something to "fill in the gaps" and cheaply explain how she survived it. But I thought about it some more and rewatched it. Like the other commenter explains, it further shows Anakins unorthodox teaching, and how much he believed in her. So now I actually see the too short tale as another opportunity to show their potential as well as convey just how much they ultimately lost. It definitely evokes feelings for me now

That whole siege of Mandalore arc was not only great Star Wars, it was just superior fiction writing. Rex brought tears to my eyes the first time I saw it, and later Ahsoka did in the same episode after the Venator crashed and she took the time to bury all the clones. It brought up a lot of feelings from when I was in Iraq and feeling betrayal from all sorts of different things I won't go into, but also how certain individuals actually cared about us while others just gave lip service. Lots of complicated emotions from this "kids'" show.

I was going to bring up this scene. The time and effort to bury a company, 144 troopers, who would have walked into blaster fire for you yesterday, while you are mostly alone with your own thoughts and knowing something terrible has happened across the galaxy to people you care about. It had to have been a deeply traumatic experience. Even with Rex she would have felt the loneliness of this work. I can only assume she was so adept on meditating on the tranquility of the force not to be broken by it.

From what we found out in the novel Ahsoka, the betrayal by the Council hit her where she was already weak. Whether the book's canon or not at this point, I don't know. But it was still interesting When Ahsoka was a young girl, someone masquerading as a Jedi came to her village to take her away. For what purposes, we don't know. Ahsoka sensed it and didn't want to go with him cause she sensed he was dangerous, only for her village to tell her "What are you doing, go with the Jedi!" Even though Plo Koon came after and saved her, it was something that caused great distress for her and the constant struggle she had to overcome throughout her life was trusting people as a result. It was her greatest weakness So not only did the council act reprehensibly by the way that they betrayed her, this was the one thing they could have done to shatter her on a personal level, not to mention the betrayal by her best friend. And THEN as she's recovering from it, the clones turn on her against their will. And THEN while she's in hiding, the people she's trying to protect turn on her. This was a recurring theme for her that she had to keep coming through again and again

Other than Anakin, Ahsoka has to be my favourite character, and that scene with Mace really illustrates not only that she has every right to be angry and upset, and it really shows how far Mace fell from grace as a Jedi in his own right. Ahsoka's leaving at the end of this season hurt me so much, and seeing what she became shows that it was right for her to leave especially given everything she's been through and it adds another layer to Anakin in that it gives him more reason to not just question the order as Jonathan said, but also to want more than what the Jedi life can give him
@occam7382

I felt like that scene was really great at showing how much Ahsoka has grown and matured as a character throughout the series. She had every right to be absolutely furious at the Council, to curse them out for all the dirty sh*t they pulled and gotten away with over the years and storm off in a fit of rage... but she doesn't. Instead, she just calmly says she isn't coming back and walks away. That says so much about her character. This isn't the impulsive, bratty, snot-nosed teenager that walked off that shuttle on Christophsis. This is a woman who, despite going on to reject the title of Jedi, arguably makes a better Jedi than most of the Council. THAT is some powerful sh*t right there, and it's what I love about The Clone Wars.

Another important part of Asoka and Rex’s arc is their very first interaction, Asoka points out that she technically outranks him but even then he shows that his hierarchy of respect is both separate and more important to him than the military hierarchy. In the beginning Asoka outranked him but she hadn’t earned enough of his respect for him to fallow her, at the end she is no longer military and was ordered executed but his respect for her as so great that he fought the chip and later went against everything he was raised for to follow her to his death (he didn’t die but he expected to.)

@@Johnrich395 Doesn't change at all? Not quite right...but doesn't change enough, in my opinion. Lucas goes on about how Star Wars is Anakin's story, but the original series really doesn't reflect that, it's Luke's story. The Prequels are Anakin's story, but it was so poorly developed starting in Episode 1, that it comes off more like Obi-Wan's story, too. Anakin's fall wasn't planned out thoughtfully enough, and while the silent scene between the distant Anakin and Padme is one of the best scenes in the Prequels, we needed more time spent on how Anakin's personality was tailor-made to end up an authoritarian and dysfunctional.
@Johnrich395
@Johnrich395 Жыл бұрын
@@rikk319 if you watch the prequels, including Clone Wars, and then the original trilogy you will see that Anakin is driven by friendship, family, and loyalty, to the extreme. He will sacrifice everything to protect and save his friends and family. There’s a scene in the ROS novel where Mace, Yoda, and Obi-Wan discuss how they would sacrifice any Jedi to end the war just 1 day sooner, but that Anakin would never do that. Anakin’s motivation to become a Jedi was about returning to free his mother, he stayed a Jedi to protect his friends and his wife, he uses whatever means necessary to save his friends during the war, he NEVER BETRAYS ANYONE (from his perspective) but his loyalty is betrayed by the Jedi who are preventing him from saving his wife, he joins the Sith only because he must protect his family, he only wants to kill the emperor to protect his family, and once his family is destroyed he only has his friend Palpatine, once he finds out that he still has family he tries to save and protect them by having them join him, he doesn’t want to kill Luke after he learns the truth, and only duels Luke in ROJ to protect his master. His ultimate redemption is only after his son is going to die at the hand of his friend, and he chooses family over friendship, but that’s the exact same choice he ALWAYS makes, and is why ONLY his children could have saved him. The shows do do more to flesh out his motivations, and you can see Vader is never beyond skin-deep, but he never actually changes his decisions or actions.
@rikk319
@rikk319 Жыл бұрын
@@Johnrich395 Anakin's own demons make him betray all he holds dear, however. Whether it's from his perspective or not doesn't matter, because as audience members we can see the truth of the situation. He says he'd do anything for his friends and family, but ends up trying to kill his best friend/father figure, murders god knows how many other jedi he knew, including children, and almost chokes to death his own "beloved" wife, pregnant with their children. Not exactly what you'd expect from a hero--but what you would expect from the collapse of a once-hero and one of the greatest villains film-making has ever seen. And I don't like the black-and-white of the so-called "redemption" of Anakin. It's one of those uncomfortable parts of Star Wars Lucas didn't adequately address. Anakin was a mass murderer, torturer, enslaver of trillions, despite the hypocrisy of having been a slave himself as a child. Killing the Emperor righted one wrong, but it didn't erase all the atrocities he'd committed. I think it was good he died in the end, because if he'd remained alive after the Emperor died, he'd by necessity have to go on trial for his numerous war crimes. If one of Hitler's underlings had shot him at the end of World War 2, he wouldn't have been released and hailed as a hero.

It took a lot of therapy and introspection to unpack everything that happened in my childhood, but I know now that confronting her or holding a grudge against her for the abuse will only serve to hurt me. Can we talk about the fact that this scene is one of the last times that we see Anakin's face in full light? In that moment, he isn't torn within himself between the light and the dark. All he wants is his padawan, his friend, to stay with him. He is fully himself in that moment and the cinematography shows that so beautifully.

I have barely spoken to my mother in nearly 4 years now because of a deep betrayal. I sternly disagreed with her once. ONCE. And she lost it on me, talking to me like I was a traitor. For the first time in my life I didn’t back down. Then my sister started messaging me, berating me on our mother’s behalf. It was hard enough dealing with just my mother, but my closest sibling and friend coming at me just the same, was what really finished the betrayal. It ruined my relationship with both of them. My sister at least tried and even begged me to come back, but I just couldn’t. Not after everything they said and did to me. My sister and I are okay now, but I still hold too much resentment for my mother to talk.

A video over Rex of Anakin from the clone wars would be so amazing because they’re both very complicated characters and this show really has that depth that most movies hell books lack. I will admit that as I get older, I see a bit of Ahsoka inside me, and like her, I've left a part of my life out of my own volition when I realized I wasn't going to get anywhere; I'm still finding my place in this world, but now I'm on a path right now that feels right for me, and I owe part of that to Ahsoka. Thank you for doing this. I got into Star Wars back in 2015 when I was 18 and watched all the movies and all the Clone Wars episodes and then watched Rebels. Ahsoka quickly became my favourite character and a huge part of it was that could sympathise with certain experiences and struggles she went through, she was easy to relate to. But I love and admire her strength of character and her values and she has one of the best character arcs and development. And she is one of the best female characters that was done right, she's not a mary sue, she has faults, she makes mistakes and has acted rashly in the past but she owns them and learns from them, using her experiences to make her into a better version of herself.

I literally just finished watching The Clone Wars for the first time a week ago, so I was so excited when I saw this video! After watching the pilot movie and Ahsoka was introduced, I knew things were going to be more rough when Order 66 inevitably came around. What I never expected was learning just how deep Palpatine's plan with the clones was, never expected to remember their names or get attached to any of them. It made the already very sad tragedy of Order 66 and Anakin Skywalker even more sad to the point where I cried for four episodes straight. I never gave this franchise a serious chance despite knowing and hearing about it all the time growing up, but now that I've rewatched the first six movies and binged this show, I am IN LOVE. Also, fun fact: in one episode of "Tales Of The Jedi", you see Anakin criticize the Order's newest form of training for battle droids, and so he gives Ahsoka a real test by having her surrounded by 501st clones - including Rex - and having them shoot at her (blasters on stun, of course). It makes things even more emotional when you realize just how differently things might have gone if the Republic wasn't so comfortable with facing droids; they never truly stood a chance when the clones turned against them, and Anakin unknowingly saved his Padawan's life with that radical training. And the sad irony is that he believes she was killed after finding her lightsaber abandoned by where she and Rex buried Jesse and the rest of the 332nd...

3 month ago did we finally get Disney+ and I finally watched clone wars. Back when it aired on tv I couldn’t get into it (there where a lot of reasons why) but now I wanted to grasp more of what happened between episode 2 and 3 and I heard much good about the show by now. I had to cry so much in the last couple of episodes! I wasn’t prepared for that „children show“ to become so deep and so much growth! You are right, the first couple of episodes are „cheesy“, stuff just keeps happening and then happy ending. But it turned into such a big part of the Star Wars universe. Ahsoka Tano is one of the best characters in the whole franchise!

YES! Alan needs to be involved too for the filming input, cuz TCW does not disappoint! Like for example in ROTS when they point out Anakin being cloaked in shadows except for his eyes in that scene with Yoda, a similar effect happened when Anakin talks to Ahsoka for the first since she left the Order: he starts off in the shadows, but then as he gets closer to the hologram, his face lights up both with physical light and surprised joy. Someone pointed out to me that that can symbolically be taken as Ahsoka returning being a glimmer of hope as Anakin fell farther down his dark path. And even then, it was only that: a glimmer.

Ones that got so much more love, like Anakin, The other Jedi masters, and Padme, as well as even JarJar getting some redemption too. I have recently gone through medical trauma (blood clots, amputations, infection etc) AND found out that my husband has been having an emotional affair with a "friend" of mine over the last 5 years. While I was literally dying in a hospital bed abput a mile from my house, instead of comforting me he was telling this woman how much he wanted to be out drinking with her, touching her and swaying with her. He also said that if he would have known 11 years ago that I would be having these health problems he wouldn't have married me. Last night he told me that if I wouldn't have taken him back he world be with her right now. I think at this point things are broken beyond repair (years of lies, betrayl and porn addiction). But I can't let him go. I know I'm terminally co-dependant, plus I have borderline personality disorder. I'm so overwhelmed with hurt and anger...I've lost so much all at once (graduated valedictorian from CNA school and had a job at a nursing home, needed a hysterectomy in February (I was trying to deal with the loss of my uterus and my ability to have any more babies). Then the blood clots and first amputation a month later. Dealing with unbelievable pain in my stump, finding out it was a staph infection originated in my bone from the amputation, weeks of IV antibiotics, then a further amputation on June 2nd of this year. Dealing with all of this I vacillate between hating hom and never wanting to see him again to desperately beg him to love me. Makes me feel so pathetic, and I wonder about the example we are setting for our kids; we are not modeling a healthy marriage. I'm sorry to ramble, I'm just so overwhelmed with emotions I don't know what to do with it all

She also reflects well with whatever person she's paired with when on-screen. Like Sabine, she was betrayed by people she put her faith in. Like Kanan, she survived Order 66 by having to do things and make the hard choices (only differences being their age and how they chose to survive). ...darn it. When I was in high school I was abandoned and shunned by a friend for something I didn’t do. And I carried that hurt for a long time. I still deal with the after effects of that feeling of being unwanted and abandoned. When I met her again at our ten year high school reunion, she acted oblivious towards what happened, but we had a great conversation and even talked a bit about the anxiety issues we’d both had in high school. In fact, a number of our old classmates came over and joined in, admitting to a variety of issues we’d all gone through, almost all of us had been undiagnosed with a variety of things. It was healing to have that talk with everyone. And then we all exchanged photos of our pets and children.
