Thank you! Glad you liked it. We figure there are enough overly serious instructors out there. We just want to teach high level skill while still having fun doing it.

So if somebody is longer you should stay outside his reach and make him attack in empty space(tai sabaki, pull back, block...), now when he is of the balance it is good time to do counter and it is easier because long arms take more time to punch and to recover from punches. When we talk offense you should maybe trap his arm, create angles or faint to make him vulnerable? Did I figure right :D thanks!

Spot on. You got it! I will be doing a video on trapping hands very soon :)

STD perhaps not the best acronym given its established usage! Although it worked as click bait lol

LOL. Hopefully it is ridiculous enough that it it also easy to remember :)

I like that acronym. Will certainly remember it! As for determining reach, I’m guessing that’s probably another thing that comes with experience? I find that my punches don’t connect because I’m falling just short even with trying to explode off the back leg. (I’m small. It sucks) My instructor keeps telling me to follow through with the blitz instead of just stopping with the back fist/reverse punch combo, but I find that since I’m trying to cover all that distance, I end up off balance, which prevents me from throwing the rest of the blitz. I do implement the distance tactic because all my partners usually have really long legs and arms. The problem with this is I’m told that I need to be more aggressive. When I try that, I usually get nailed for my trouble. Even if I block the first punch or kick, I end up usually getting a back fist to the head or eating a spinning back kick. Sorry for the novel and thanks for the video!

I thought it would be pretty easy to remember. haha. Do you use any angles while sparring? I would suggest to use some fakes to get them to throw something and then break off at an angle.... Easy to say of course
