Steak pie is my favourite dinner, even when I go out for dinner it must have it on the menu :) I love all the crusty bits that stick to the pie-dish and I adore the mushy bits underneath. I don't include veggies in mine but that's only because I don't eat veggies at all BUT I do love bought mashed potatoes (from M&S) just because they have no lumps in them, absolutely splattered with Fruity Brown Sauce.....yummy yum yum. Thank you for all your videos, I love watching them xx Jean from Scotland. Stay safe take care.

that pie and mash at the end looked like it was made in utopia,on top of mount Olympus by a think tank led by Albert einstein.that food looked so fantastic that I could cry inside out!I haven't eaten that well in decades!absolutely incredible!that's how steak pies are supposed to be made.not filled with bisto gravy powder and sold on the high street for a king's ransom!

OOh, I am drooling. Alas, I am not having steak pie tonight, and only came for the window shopping to get my taste buds tantalised, but I think a steak pie might be on the menu for the weekend! PS It took me how old to learn the flour/seasoning the beef in the container trick?! Ha ha
@jamesgoacher16062 жыл бұрын
I saw an instance in which the rim of the Pie Dish had been lined with a bead of pastry for the top to stick to. Bit puzzled as to why they would want to do that. Whenever some recipe calls for a long slow simmer I put it in the Slow Cooker. Mine simmer nicely and I don't have to keep an eye on it. Your child is nicely fed. Will you adopt me? I am potty trained and can speak Scottish :-).

Thank you for sharing this.. I did like the handy tips(like leaving the beef in the tray it came in, and adding the flour and seasoning to that, I always appreciate less washing up).. Plus chopping all 4 carrots together.. (now why haven't I thought of that? ).. All these seemingly little things can be really useful.. Now, I don't want to miss the apple pie video if you make one, or a bolognese..

Yum never had steak.pie here in the states but going to give it a try towards the fall. Too hot to turn in the oven now. We don't get leeks very often in my area. Wonder if I could add anything else? Enjoy the videos so much. Thanks from across the pond!
@maggiedoor60932 жыл бұрын
I don't always add leeks but add mushrooms instead. I do buy leeks and slice, wash very well ( three rinses, they hold dirt) and freeze in a ziplock bag to use as needed for soups and stews.

Can I ask a question? Do you like liver and onions and if you do, what’s your recipe? Mine is lambs liver soaked in milk overnight (throw the milk away when ready to cook). Cut into chunks, dredged in flour then shallow fried - then add to an oven bowl with sliced onions and some bacon rashers then cover with a bistro gravy mix. How my parents used to cook it…
@singledadscookbook2 жыл бұрын
I dont, which is weird from someone who eats haggis. Your parents recipe sounds spot on.

You could, I would do it on a low temperature for a long time. It all depends on your slow cooker. I have a video making Stew in a slow cooker on my channel

Nice, but it's not a pie, it's a stew with a lid!
@0251-u4t Жыл бұрын
That's not a pie. It's just casserole with pastry on top. A pie has pastry underneath.

A proper steak pie only has a top pastry.
