Living like this is a mental issue. my own father is a hoarder and he suffers from mental issues, like depression. These type of people who hoard need help because they’ve neglected their health, and just accepted and grown comfort to the toxic life style. Asmond knows he is not in good living environment, he just does not care anymore. We don’t know what he goes through behind the cameras, it’s just so sad to watch, he’s crying for help seriously. My house was a mess, a MESS. worse than his. I thought I was OK. No. The "I don't sleep in the walls" argument seems valid to someone in this state. My walls were dirty. But the truth of the matter was, no matter what I was thinking about them from time to time and giving the excuse "it's okay, I don't sleep on them" but now, after some help and therapy my house I keep clean. It's effects are on a subconscious. I feel good when I just need to pick up a few things and my home is clean now.

Born in Houston, lived all over East Texas. I grew up in houses that looked like Asmon's but I don't have the mementos like him bc my family moved over 20 times by the time I was 18 & we lost a lot. A lot of the time, we either lived with my aunt/uncle/cousins, or they lived with us, and it was 4 adults and 4 kids in a small space, and I usually had to share a room with my 3 cousins. My mom kept our home clean, but my aunt wasn't big into cleaning so the 2 environments were very different. Most of our stuff was free/found. I've seen it all. I am so very, very certain that NOTHING in Asmon's house could actually gross me out. 100%. Personally, I think Asmon would benefit from storage solutions, general cleaning, and organizing. He has all these momentos, but they are scattered and buried, and there are definitely aspects of his house that cause him stress. He's a very independent person and he doesn't want anything fancy, so I imagine it is hard for him. We all would benefit from a cleaner, less cluttered, more organized space.

@@StuartRobertson-y4n No, actually. There is factual proof about depression and the habits it facilitates that has been studied for years. How do you know he is truly happy? Have you had an in depth conversation with him 1 on 1? If not, the only thing you have to go off of is what he said, and you’re not taking anything of his environment into consideration. I’m the king of the world. Look what I said. Does that make me the king of the world? The fact that you’re trying to spin what I said into a bad thing and make me feel bad by calling me selfish is pretty sad. I reiterated that I like Asmon, and I didn’t say anything bad about him, and yet you come up like a white knight trying to defend someone who doesn’t need defending. Zack lost his mom 2 years ago. I lost mine last year. I know he’s depressed and you’re 100% wrong for thinking he’s not. Have you heard him talk about his mom? The memories he shares with his viewers? Yeah, you don’t heal from losing someone that close to you. Especially not when you live in the same house, with all the memories everything invokes, from furniture that isn’t used to clothes that aren’t used. The state of the environment that he chooses to live in is a reflection of his mentality and life. But yeah, I’m SeLfIsH. Gtfo
@BlGGESTBROTHER Жыл бұрын
@@StuartRobertson-y4n Actually, it is an issue. We can make objective assessments about Zack's situation: -Living in a filthy house that is full of black mold and other toxic things is going to have health consequences. People die from long term exposure to that shit all the time. -Having poor hygiene is going to have health consequences, like having your teeth rot out of your mouth. I can look at a drunk on the street shaking with DTs and assess that they have a problem. That they aren't living life in a way optimal for their own health and happiness. Same way as I can look at Asmon and know that his health/happiness could be improved if he cleaned up his house.

We can like the guy and still be worried for him. He's a human being like anyone else and hoarders usually share similar characteristics: Depression, stuck in the past, comfort in items they are afraid to let go to include garbage. We can put streamers and popular people on a pedestal and idolize them but that doesn't mean they are perfect or that everything is fine. He puts a lot of value and has random memories about the most basic item in there (salt shaker for example). He likely feels comfort from the garbage around him. I can sympathize even though it's not exactly healthy. Even the food he eats is ritualized to a point that he barely, if ever, tries anything new. He probably has a fear of change. Leaving that house and getting rid of items would terrify him more than he'd let on. I'm sure someone will say I'm reading too much into this, as is always the case.
