@ Cooking with Shereen, i do not mean to sound like a food nazi, lol, i hate that, i just want you to get the real thing in Cincinnati chili, i.e. they never use pre shredded cheddar cheese in a bag, it has a powder/cornstarch on it to keep it from clumping together, things like that, so that is why i want you to tell me when you get your chili, no disrepect meant at all ma'am, but like i said, they are strict with their procedures, sorry if it came across disrespectful, forgive me, God Bless, p.s. , your husband is going to love this, you may get some nice jewelry out of this, lol.

I was worried when you reached for a jar that said nutmeg, and was pleasantly surprised when you opened the lid, and there were three whole seeds in the jar! Nothing goes with spinach or a béchamel better than nutmeg, and nothing says nutmeg better than fresh. What a wonderful video. What a spectacular kitchen. What a remarkable instructor.

Just made this for Thanksgiving, and it was a huge hit! Definitely by far the best creamed spinach I've ever made, and quite possibly the best I've ever eaten. Thanks for the recipe! Pro tip: use Gold Medal Wondra flour, it is extremely forgiving and makes the bechamel practically impossible to screw up. Also, I added about 1/2 cup sauteed mushrooms just before adding the spinach, and it was a great addition. 10/10, will make again.

Mrs. Shereen, btw, swiss gruyere is my # 1 favorite cheese by far, & in a recipe frozen spinach it is the best deal at the grocer if you cannot get fresh spinach, & the frozen spinach is a great alternative because it's cooked down, & if you buy 16 ounces of frozen, it would take 3-4 pounds of fresh to equal that as it is already wilted down & most of the water is squeezed out.
@CookingwithShereen4 жыл бұрын

The creamed spinach I ever had was gloppy spinach with a gloppy bland white sauce. I am so anxious to try this! In fact, I will make a batch for myself, and probably eat the whole damn thing. I'm trying to get more greens into my diet, and while I love spinach, sometimes it gets a little old. Does this freeze very well? And I love gruyere cheese... That garlic tip is making watching this so worthwhile! On the milk versus cream issue: the butter is made from cream, so it gives it cream flavor, even if one uses 0 percent fat milk. I tend to not stock low fat milk, or zero fat, because I like the taste, of a little cream. My Mother used to really cook like a French woman: used butter in everything! Thank you, for reminding me of her memory! :) ... I am thinking I could make this, and then use it in spinach lasagna ( I just got a pasta maker- any excuse to try it ) ! I love white sauce! I used to just use cream of mushroom soup.
