Stealing a Pro's KOM + Bonus Drone Footage!

Vlog from the day in Wales, out for a ride stealing a short strava KOM on the way home, then some drone footage from the local Time trial (TT) up in Nant yr Arian. Beautiful evening in Wales!

using the PowerTabs with some bikes sounds nice... but to be honest - for me it would be too much trouble to change pedals before every ride. I'm very pleased with my power2max. Btw - fine performance, good numbers... I try to steel the KOM of the segment near to my home from a pro (similar length as yours), but no chance until now, have to get 3 sec faster... 😎

Stages and cold temperatures. My experience with the Stages is that the power reading and particular the batteries dies off quickly when it is colder outside. Summer period it is stable and late autumn,winter, and early sprig is is fuc..d up.

yeahh that could be another factor! it really doesn't seem to do great in anything but dry and warm haha

Bummer about Stages man. My MTB Stages has trouble turning off after ride and hence drains the battery even when not in use. I spoke with Stages as Sea Otter this past weekend and they said a new firmware update came out recently to help with that. Skeptical that it will help you but wanted to let you know. Hair drying it when its open and then regressing the o-ring before assembly has helped mine as well.

bottom bracked ! or stem . try to go for powertaps pedals i got 1st version of garmin pedals and its annoying if u want to move to other bike or cranks .....2nd version is better but still two things to mount / pedal ifself and transmitter/

I've just had to send my stages back due to the drop outs in power. I've done everything that stages suggests between the unit and my garmin too, so if it continues when it gets returned I'm gonna ask for a refund and look at the FSA powerbox. they made it with power2max and it's dual sided too!

yeahh they're so hit and miss, mine is the first gen had it just over 2 years old now so pretty happy its kept going for so long especially with the trouble others have had with them!

VeloVegan you've done really well. mines a gen 2 and less than 6 months old.

I have a couple of friends who have power tap and have had a few problems with dropping out and not connecting to their Garmin I don't have a power meter so wouldn't know any other suggestions.

yeahh it did have that as one of the negatives in the reviews... having said that, if i went off word of mouth for stages i'd never buy one, but mine has done me ok! i guess with all the lower end power meters at the moment they're still a quite early in their development and all having their own different problems

Check out TheDarkInstall he rides a lot and gives some good advice based on his testing. He doesn't recommend the p1's because of bearing problems in the long term. See one of his livestreams or this review of the p2m (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoe0coKhfL6Im7c) Imo for longevity and stable power readings crank based is the way to go. Even though switching between bikes is not that easy.
